Suing the Phishers Spring Hill FL - Spring Hill FL, Phish, Spring Hill FL Phishing, Spr... - 0 views

If the confidence trick is the oldest scam in the book, then phishing is merely its latest incarnation. But thanks to the efficiency and anonymity of public networks, this relatively simple ploy has been elevated to a crime of mass proportions. Phishers typically hook their marks by sending emails that appear to come from a trusted third party (such as a bank or email provider). Once their marks click on an embedded link in the email, they are sent to a site that mimics the trusted site's appearance and asks them to reveal personal information, such as a password or Social Security number.

http://melissarocks98.blogspot.com/ Real Florida Haunts The St. Augustine Lighthouse is definitely considered one of the most popular locations when it comes to the most haunted areas of the city. True ghost stories have been documented about this location in popular television shows like Ghost Hunters, and various other types of media all throughout history. Many lives have been lost in and around the area of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. These losses as well as a lot of unexplained phenomenon are the "fuel behind the fire" when it comes to paranormal activity in this location. The following represents some of the paranormal activity that is believed to occur at this location: The St. Augustine Lighthouse 1. In the year of 1873, on the 10th day of July, there was a tragic accident that occurred while the lighthouse was being constructed. Five kids were riding along a type of cart that assisted in bringing in supplies. They fell in the water as a result of the cart breaking. A black girl that is believed to have been a servant, as well as two other girls drowned. Many stories circulate that these girls swing on the swing set on the grounds, can be heard playing and laughing, and can even be seen looking from the windows of the house on the grounds. 2. On Ghost Hunters, a shadow was documented on film moving on the top level of the stairs inside the lighthouse and even in front of the window in the lighthouse. It is believed that this is a spirit of a light keeper that tragically fell from the structure. In addition to this, a woman's voice was also recorded in digital audio recordings that the TAPS Team took. The TAPS Team has determined that this area is definitely haunted and has returned to document even more occurrences. 3. Many different sounds have been heard in the Museum on the property. None of these sounds seem to be threatening. The employ

Optimist Lake now completely empty | Fox10tv.com - 0 views

  • Matt Barrentine MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A lake in West Mobile has disappeared. Ironically it's vanishing act was the result of record rainfall that drained Optimist's lake and flooded two homes in the process. Now neighbors off Cody road want the lake back and the drainage problem, caused by an undermined dam, solved for good. Completely empty...? Before last week's heavy rains, Optimist Lake was a pretty little lake surrounded by homes off Cody road. Now it is a brown, muddy bog filled with trash and dead fish. Marlon Brooks was looking over the damaged dam that traps the water in the lake. He said, "It looks like the water has undermined the dam out there and pretty much flooded out the woods out back out here." The Bamboo Steakhouse restaurant sits on the lake. They just started having live music on their deck on Monday nights, but owner John Nguyen is worried if folks will show up tonight. He told us, "It's going to hurt my business if I don't get this back. It's the biggest asset to our restaurant."

Housing Counselors Warn Foreclosure Rescue Scams Still Common - 1 views

It was agreed by nonprofit housing counseling agencies and housing rights advocates that foreclosure rescue scams are still common in the Bay Area, and there's no need for homeowners in distress to empty their pockets paying for private attorneys. Because of the sudden death of the family's primary breadwinner, Tatakamotongas of East Palo Alto suffered from mortgage payments. They decided to seek help with obtaining a loan modification to lower their monthly payments and due to this they came into contact with a scammer rather than legal help. "The advice they gave me was 'Don't make any more payments at all. The longer you are backed up, the more we can help you.' And so of course I believed them," says Mele Tatakamotonga. The scammer was a private attorney. He told them to stop paying their mortgage so that they will qualify for a modification and charged them $3,000 for the assistance. But as expected from a scammer, after paying the fee the phone number had been disconnected. "Foreclosure rescue and mortgage modification scams are continuing and getting bolder," says Vanitha Venugopal, program director of Community Development and Investment at The San Francisco Foundation. Homeowners must pay for help with loan modifications and other housing issues because scams continue to be rampant, advocates say. The Tatakamotongas finally found Community Legal Services in East Palo Alto, a nonprofit law office, which collected the family's money from the dishonest attorney, and assisted them with obtaining a loan modification. Maeve Elise Brown, Executive Director of Housing and Economic Rights Advocates (HERA) in Oakland, another organization that offers free legal aid, warns that scams are commonly carried out by unscrupulous attorneys. Brown also says that the media needs to be wary of running scammers' advertisements. Many homeowners looking for help contact scammers that they find through television and radio ads.
