Great site that offers teaching and learning materials based on CURRENT TOPICS in the NY Times. Students can post their opinions, take quizzes, take part in self tests, check out the word of the day, etc. Today's "fill in the blank article" is based on the story of a cat from Co that was lost for 5yrs and found in NYC!!! Read article, then try to fill in the blanks!

This site even offers 12 ways to use this blog everyday. I like the feature that reads the headline of important dates with a brief story in our history.

Great site to teach American History. Has an archive section where students can research look up famous people, places and events and objects from the 1700's. There are also fun educational games pertaining to history.

I love the Now and Then section. It takes various historical sights and compares them from now and what they were like then.
  •
You can also write your own newspaper, which is useful in multiple subjects.
  •
Can be used for students on many levels: coloring pages, writing postcards and stories, great for project-based learning. A Gp. 1 favorite!

This magazine is very accessible! I have seen the multiple reading levels used in the classroom setting. Students are getting the same information but the text is written with vocabulary and structure that is appropriate for their current reading level. Great Magazine for any classroom!
