review The Assistive Technology Blog: "There's an App for that!" Not AAC It features a picture schedule which can be customized using photos from the iTouch photo library or using photos contained in the small iPrompts library. The second feature is a 2 picture choice board which can also be customized with pictures from the iTouch photo library or the iPrompts library. By turning the iTouch to landscape mode, when the student touches his choice the other choice is shaded. Finally, the last feature is a visual timer. "his posts serves to announce a blog for my resource room students and families at Wells High School, Maine. I will post articles and references that I am using as I set up a resource room for our digital students. I will pose questions and ask for the wisdom of the crowd. I hope my students, parents, educators and friends will help build this site as a resource to all. Thanks to Istvan for this unique photo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/i_csuhai/2984029909/"

PHOTOsyms is a fun and easy to use program designed specifically to create custom symbols from digital photographs. It is an ideal tool for parents and educators who do not have access to more complicated symbol making software. The primary innovation of PHOTOsyms is that it empowers more people with the ability to create countless numbers of photographic symbols (photosyms), which can be used within a symbol-based communication system such as PECS. This will allow students to obtain symbols that are customized to their specific needs, so that they can expand their vocabulary and thus communicate more effectively and consistently in more environments.
