"Save as DAISY" add-in for Microsoft Office Word now incorporates a "Lite" version of the DAISY Pipeline. You can select to generate the DAISY XML for further processing, or you can generate a fully conforming DAISY file set with full navigation and full text synchronized with audio. The audio is generated by the default text-to-speech (TTS) engine on your Windows computer.

"Choose up to 10 photos and record 10 pieces of audio to create your own spinner. Press or shake the spinner and it will randomly land in one of the segments. Press the settings button to add your photos to the spinner. It will load your photo folder to choose from. Press record to record your audio, then press stop, play it back or re-record your audio."

Wordle is a toy for generating "word clouds" from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends. Create your own.

What is RTI? Response to Intervention (RTI) is a multi-tiered approach to help struggling learners. Students' progress is closely monitored at each stage of intervention to determine the need for further research-based instruction and/or intervention in general education, in special education, or both.

Response to Intervention could easily be implemented through the use of web 2.0 tools. Maybe we should start a discussion forum on RTI and have people contribute specific ways/tools that could be used.

Begin with ME! is a project that provides a rich environment full of resources and support that allows teachers and teacher consultants to work together, share ideas, and learn new ways to help all students, including those with special needs, become better writers. 1. When appropriate technology tools and strategies are integrated into instruction, all students, including those with special needs and those at risk for academic failure will become better writers.\n\n2. Given adequate training and support, teachers can comfortably integrate technology into their writing curriculum.\n\n3. Supporting struggling students in the general education classroom can be effective and easily replicated.
