"The Listening Room was ABC Radio's premier acoustic art program, broadcast each Monday on Classic FM at 9 pm from 1989 to 2003. The main presenter was Andrew McLennan. Its producers worked with Australian and international composers, writers, performance artists, electronic media artists, environmental sound recordists and sound designers. It won an array of national and international prizes.  "

Horowitz have just finished their third session at NASA's Vertical Gun at the Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, recording hyper-velocity impacts in the giant near-vacuum chamber that lets planetary geologists simulate and understand the forces that have shaped terrains on earth and throughout the solar system.

"Volcanic Drift presents the subteranean sounds of Yellowstone's super caldera, lathed into vinyl records, and played back through a pair of custom built subwoofers. Because a portion of this audio extends below the range of human hearing (the infrasonic), these recordings are felt as well as heard. To prevent the records from skipping, the turntable is mounted on a vibration dampening seismically stabalized pedestal designed to absorbe the architectural resonance."
