Feedback is a phenomenon which is not uncommon in sound art. Steve Reich's Pendulum Music used swinging microphones over speakers to create different tones in a certain rhythm, already back in 1968. There is something primeval about feedback, the way it can run out of control and become chaotic. Because of that, it's no wonder there are still a lot of artists working with it.

"His latest piece includes some of those elements usually present in his installations but instead of being fixed in rooms and sculptures, are used in an improvised performance called Small Movements, in which feedbacks, grains, objects, tiny spaces, delicate rhythms and thin drones interact to create a beautiful dynamic continuum of microsonic silhouettes."

"Double Mouth Feedback is a multi-channel sound installation. The source material for this project is generated from vocal recordings from participants. The recordings were created in response to a series of prompts asking the participants to manifest their experience of gender through vocal sound. The vocal composition was created with electronic composer Bruno Coviello. The installation incorporates the material aspects of sound, using wave patterns, interference phenomena, and vocal superposition to structure the composition. Multiple Frequencies, pitch shifts, and expressions are woven together to collectively imagine a more inclusive and expansive gender system."

"WaveCloud-M is Matlab-oriented simulator which uses the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method to solve the linear acoustic wave-equation numerically. It originates from a simulation tool which I designed in 2010 to model rooms for my PhD thesis, which is called WaveCloud (without the M). The original WaveCloud project relies heavily on parallisation on a GPU and facilitates a means for large-scale modelling. Even though it is a powerful tool, it relies on specialised hardware and can be somewhat cumbersome as it requires some machine-specific tweaking. I have listened to feedback from many users, and accordingly, I decided to create a new version of WaveCloud, which can be run 'out of the box' from within Matlab, and does not require building any third-party components. This version only shares the name with the original WaveCloud, and its engine was re-designed from the core."

"Two recent exhibitions by Icelander Jónsi and a current one by Oslo-based American Camille Norment reveal how innovative and impactful these two sound-based artists really are. While they certainly differ, they also have much in common. Both utilize sound - melodic and dissonant, subtle and emphatic - in immersive installations that respond to and also transform architectural spaces. Both are acclaimed musicians and composers; their experience as live performers no doubt influences their artworks. For both, sound in their work is music, or song, and also a primary material - they sculpt with sound. Both artists' works are also palpably soulful: they affect visitors sonically, visually, emotionally, and - very likely - spiritually too."
