March 7, 2009 YouTube - Joe Pass - All the Things You Are - Likaholix Joe Pass Joe Pass (via last.fm) I have been also adding Music to my Likaholix page especially music by older Jazz Greats Likaholix Rocks and is so easy to use- Joe Pass recorded a series of albums during the 1960s for the Pacific Jazz label, including the early classics Catch Me, 12-String Guitar, For Django, and Simplicity. In 1963, Pass received Downbeat magazine's "New Star Award". Pass was also featured on Pacific Jazz recordings by Gerald Wilson, Bud Shank, and Les McCann. Pass toured with George Shearing in 1965. Mostly, however, during the 1960s he did TV and recording session work in Los Angeles. He was a sideman with Louis Bellson, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Della Reese, Johnny Mathis, and worked on TV shows including the The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Merv Griffin Show, The Steve Allen Show, and others. In the early 1970s, Pass and guitarist Herb Ellis were performing together regularly at Donte's jazz club in Los Angeles. This collaboration led to Pass and Ellis recording the very first album on the new Concord Jazz label, entitled simply Jazz/Concord (#CJS-1), along with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Jake Hanna. In the early 1970s, Pass also collaborated on a series of music books, and his Joe Pass Guitar Style (written with Bill Thrasher) is considered a leading improvisation textbook for students of jazz. Fred Wilson and Seth Godin http://sethgodin.typepad.com/ both have the ability to capsulize. capsulize - put in a short or concise form; reduce in volume; "capsulize the news"! It is a skill mostly prevalent in Poetry. I use Disqus and am currently having this site rebuilt and it is not installed yet ! I miss it but still have access to post with Disqus on other sites ! Having reached the ripe old age of 72 I have a lot of time to study web content platforms this is what I call blogs since the term blog,s to me is semantic jazz! For years I read Etc a magazine published by the http://www.generalsemantics.org/ I had tapes by the Late S I Hyakawa and Antatole Rapport ! Even once attended a lecture by Hiyakawa in Miami ! There are two web content platforms that are very informative which I enjoy for specifice reasons! http://www.eliasonfamily.info/blog/ and Seth Godin ! The both possess a a conversational style. This style says to the reader I am talking to you not shouting out to the world ! I had the benefit of a wonderful education and by the time I graduated high school had read Homer, John Dos Passos, and a lot of the great books ! Today a lot of platforms are being authored by Geeks who are well educated but not in the Liberal Arts ! So many write in bytes and bits ! I was banned from Mahalo for my reblogs and Freindfeed for not posting in a designated area! I was crushed can't you tell ! Most of these sites are run by Geeks who can only communicate with machines not people ! Gone are the day's when you get a well written letter on Crain Crest splattered with ink from a fountain pen !

It is no secret Gotham Gal is one of my favorites and is a top content creator ! I once posted a comment on her husband's web site that I still took notes on Crain StationaryWith A Quill pen ! http://www.crane.com/ My mother was very well educated and in our house Etiquette was king ! We had beautiful Crane Note paper and I still remember even though I was born in 1936-having to write hundreds of thank you note's to people who attended my Bar Mitzvah ! I of course used a Parker 51 Fountain Pen that I got as a gift ! When I turned 21 I had my own Crain Stationary that was blind embossed with a simple line in the left hand column and the store where I bought it had to register the embossing ! The stationary got me a lot of response from politicians and other people I wrote , they must have thought I was important ! Presentation is a very important element in any communcation ! I was always jealous of my Friends who attented Catholic School since their penmanship was a work of art ! They had the Palmer method applied to their fingers with a ruler ! I didn't meet the ruler method until I went Hebrew School ! I went to Detroit Country Day School for grades 1-12 and there was a lot of pressure applied to read and write ! Steve Ballmer also graduated from that School a long time after me and I know dam well it gave him an excellent base for a career ! Most of the people at that school were Harvard Bound since the headmaster F Alden Shaw was a Harvard graduate ! Me I went to the University of Miami and majored in what they call today Communication, with a minor in Statistics and it was the fifties so we all got 5th Degree Black Belts in Rum Drinking on a beautiful island 90 mies from Miami - Viva Ritmo Latino ! A good education will help you understand the Human Condition a long with a few wacks from a good Psychiatrist ! Both these elements temper your ego and make sure you are not a snob !
