The modern definition of learning, school, and college is an evolving mix of education and technology jargon. So what does that mean for high school students wondering about their college readiness? Simply put, it’s a whole new ballgame from just a single generation ago.

HOWEVER, none of this, for a moment, displaces the teacher. On the contrary, it amplifies teacher skills. It may also facilitate the ability for teachers to play to their strongest card:

Since education is often focused on memorization and reporting of information, some people wonder if having all this information will change the skills our children need to learn. It is a wake up call to teachers and educators that we need to teach not only in the present, but prepare students for the future.

Ultimately the importance of technology or its absence pales in comparison to the importance of a teacher's attitude, effort, and success. More opinionated academics and nonacademics alike need to view teachers in action and see whether they connect with their students and get the job done. Some of these wonderful and successful teachers will have beautifully planned and integrated technological endeavors, and some will have a whiteboard, chalkboard, or a circle of desks in the center of the room.
