SLJ Summit 2010: Tom Corbett, Cushing Academy on Vimeo - several interesting points, including seeing the library as not so much as the repository, but the portal to books, information and training users in digital literacy, which is a new skill set. I liked his illustration re: what is must've been like when the transition going from the horse-drawn cart and the first automobile took place, and the similarities with print to digital, etc.

Interesting article that addresses free speech and it's limitations in a school environment. How will we respond?

Planet Nutshell produces short animated videos to explain products, services, and concepts. One of their series of videos is all about the Internet and Internet safety for K-12 students. The series is called NetSafe and it has 17 episodes that were produced for the Utah Education Network. The videos are labeled with grade levels so that students in high school don't watch videos designed for K-3 students. (Via Free Tech for Teachers)

This post has great ideas for people to take care of their "digital footprint" online and has probably one of the funniest, but to the point videos about digital footprints that I've ever seen. We're definitely going to use that in our district with students!

Students at Burlington HS took on the task of learning about Digitla Citizenship and built this site. I love how students interviewed teachers and students, and also the school principal, and also posted examples of good/bad practices. Points to the fact we need to work on this concept and that of a "Digital Footprint"

A fun way to illustrate respecting the privacy and intellectual rights of others :)

10:44 Documentary by AT&T - Don't Text While Driving Watch AT&T's new 10-minute documentary titled "The Last Text," featuring stories of real individuals whose lives have been adversely affected by texting behind the wheel. Includes a short video on student reactions to the video. Videos can be requested for download. AT&T created this documentary as part of its "It Can Wait" campaign because we want consumers be safe while using our technology. We are grateful and humbled by the bravery of the people who agreed to be on camera for the documentary. We would have no story to tell without them.
