SEOUL | Thu Jul 14, 2011 5:48am EDT SEOUL (Reuters) - Apple Inc's Korean unit has paid compensation to a user of its popular iPhone after collecting location data without consent, lawyers and court officials said, the first payout by the company over these complaints.

News Corp bought Myspace for $580 million only 6 years ago. They turned around and sold it to another company for $35 million, Specific Media. Justin Timberlake, who also now owns part of Myspace, is part of an attempted revitalization of the networking site. Another interesting note from the article--News Corp offered Myspace back to Tom and he turned them down.

I read this article when the story first broke and it came to mind when I was reading the Goffman material. There's been a lot of stories about missteps on Social Media, but this was one of the funnier ones (the Red Cross has a nice sense of humor!).
