DNA Extraction Lesson Plan - 0 views

  •
This is a lesson plan all about DNA. The students will use a banana and extract DNA from it and observe it under a microscope. I think that this is a cool and fun, interactive way for students to obtain a better understanding of DNA.

Ice Cream! - 0 views

  •
I think we all remember this being our favorite science lesson ever as a kid. In this lesson, the teacher will explain to students about freezing point depressions and exothermic reactions. Of course, in the way of making homemade ice cream. I loved this as a student before and I will definitely use it in my future classroom.

Seasons - 0 views

  •
This is a simple lesson based on getting young students involved in making observations of their surroundings. In particular, the season change from summer to fall. Students are allowed to go outside and make their own observations about how the environment has changed. I would use this with younger children, kindergarten or first grade, because it is a great start to get their senses awake and start the process of making great observations.

Causes of Pollution - 0 views

  •
This is a lesson plan involving the causes of pollution. This lesson talks about the negative effects pollution has on our lives, things that cause pollution, and ways to help make our Earth a cleaner place. The students are allowed to be creative and find their own ways to stop pollution and become active. I would use this in my future classroom because it allows all of my students to be involved in helping the world we live in.

Make a Battery - 0 views

  •
This was a fourth grade physical science experiment that can be used when studying electricity. Although it is not completely free it uses minimal household items so the cost is very low. The students are able to see what goes on inside a battery by completing a circuit. I would use this in my classroom because the students become actively involved in learning and it is something new and "shocking" for them to discover.

Bill Nye- The atmosphere - 1 views

  •
This is another 23 minute by Bill Nye that informs children all about the different aspects of the atmosphere. I would show this to my future class when we were learning about the atmosphere and air systems. Bill Nye is always informative and fun so the students love watching him.

Food, Excercise & Energy - 3 views

  •
This site gives you a great lesson plan idea on teaching students about nutrition and what is really in all the food they eat. This is both a science and math lesson because after the students find out how much fat, sugar, etc. is in most of their favorite foods, the concept of energy is brought up to show the students what they need to do to burn all the calories off.
