RSCC Occupational Therapy Assistant Program

Purpose To provide mobility to citizens in a 16 county area. Eligibility The program provides public and medical transportation. Residents are asked to schedule an appointment at least 72 hours in advance. Medical trips have priority. Fares One-way trip is $3.00 or $6.00 for a round trip within the county of residence.

Driving and Community Mobility A medical doctor wrote and asked if we do "driving evaluations," and if so, what exactly it is we do. As the co-editor of a text published by the American Occupational Therapy Association, I was challenged to respond in a brief manner.

CDC fall risk program

I actually taught this program under a PT when I worked at Greenfield Senior Living. It focuses on strengthening, balance, and walking which decreases chance of falling with the aging adults. Studies have shown that falls are reduced by 35% by using this program.

Includes two home/mobility/ADLS assessments by registered OT's. Must meet qualification criteria (limited to counties in California).
