Gooru is a new service (still carrying the Alpha label) that aims to provide teachers and students with an extensive collection of videos, interactive displays, documents, diagrams, and quizzes for learning about topics in math and science.
A great Search Engine site, but with more features such as a Library of resource organised by subject area. Unfortunately very U.S. based, but for some subjects that wouldn't matter.
The science dept at school has just started experimenting with creating units on gooru - so far they are impressed! Thanks for sharing the link. I've marked this assignment as complete on Lore for you.
The Khan Academy has generated a lot of discussion in education. The academy supplies a wealth of resources However... do these resources contribute to good teaching and learning?

"About Us: British Pathé is one of the oldest media companies in the world. Their roots lie in 1890s Paris where their founder, Charles Pathé, pioneered the development of the moving image. They were established in London in 1902, and by 1910 were producing their famous bi-weekly newsreel the Pathé Gazette. After the First World War they started producing various Cinemagazines as well. By 1930 they were producing the Gazette, the Pathetone Weekly, the Pathé Pictorial and Eve's Film Review, covering entertainment, culture and womens' issues. By the time Pathé finally stopped producing the cinema newsreel in 1970 they had accumulated 3500 hours of filmed history amounting to over 90,000 individual items. Over the last 30 years this material has been used extensively around the world in television programmes, home videos, advertisments, corporate productions and, most recently, in web publishing."
One of the resources we (my TL hat on now) use from Wheeler Centre is for VCE English students - "Texts in the City" sessions - videos from past years are online. Thanks for sharing. I've marked this assignment as complete on Lore.
