Templates for TONS of books - 1 views

  •
I LOVE this website. It offers templates to make tons of different books. Matchbooks, shutterfold, flap books, wheel books, and pop-up books are just a few the site offers. I love the fact that most of the books come as a pdf that you can save for use later. Most of the books can be used to create a "Lapbook". I will post a link to a site that explains how those are made.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page it lists what books are best to use for the amount of information you have.

Free online books to read. Some of the books also contain audio links in which you can hear the book being read. Great practice for anyone learning to read. I like these because adults who may not be able to read to their children can enjoy the experience with their children and learn also.

This is my favorite author's website for his children's books. His most recent books, The Graveyard Book, Coraline and Odd and the Frost Giants, were written for older children. You can watch the author read eight chapters of The Graveyard Book on videos he has posted to the site.

Great source of highly motivating books for kids. I found out about them when I lived about 10 miles from their company. They run deals periodically, so check them out. Not as cheap as Scholastic, but they are hardbound and last.

Actors from the Screen Actors Guild reading stories for children a-loud. A helpful activity for ELL and all beginning learners so that they can hear English spoken using stories they will enjoy!

This site has actors reading stories, which is a wonderful model for building fluency and especially for experiencing prosody (expressive reading). I like it best because it has some of my childhood favorites like Harry, the Dirty Dog (read by Betty White!). There is also a good story for Black History month (White Socks Only).
