I agree, I think it is definitely something that we as educators need to take some responsibility for... and as you mentioned the ACMA have produced some wonderful resources.
Our school has made internet safety a focus for the last 3 years in a number of ways.....
Firstly our Stage 3 students have participated in ACMA workshops for the last three years, we have also run both staff and parent workshops... again supported by ACMA.
All students K- 6 have also participated in school facilitated cyber-safety workshops and our teachers are currently implementing the modules produced by ACMA.
Our Year 6 students have also participated in the Cybersmart Detective Program .. which again was a great experience.
I would strongly encourage all schools to take advantage of the terrific resources out there and dont wait till you have an issue before you do something about net safety........ Be Proactive!!!!
And yes ... perhaps it is something that we could explore at the next LT network day.
