This looks like a great app for creating digital stories on the iPad. It allows you to draw characters or use pre-loaded ones, and then record a voiceover. Has some good reviews, too!

Here is a great review of a new PBS website which allows you to create a habitat based on the needs to a fictional  character. Once the students have finished creating the habitat, they could download it as a JPEG. Has some great tips on ways it could be useful in the classroom, too!

My StoryMaker lets you control characters and objects - and creates sentences for you! Once you are done with your story, save it online or print it out in the Library. I really liked the way the story was made and the structure it provided for the students

Create a text based, comic style movie with simple animation. Its very simple, quick and effective. No easy download at this stage or character voices but very easy to use.

Students use a WebQuest to discover how their favorite story book characters use simple machines.

Excellent site to grab movie clips, great search capabilities. Eg can search for characters/ mood/ setting etc. Excellent resource. Need to download clips at home as proxies currently appear to block.
