The Rasmuson Foundation is a private foundation that works as a catalyst to promote a better life for Alaskans. Since its founding and first grant of $125 in 1955, the Rasmuson Foundation has supported Alaskan non-profit organizations in the pursuit of their goals, with particular emphasis on organizations that demonstrate strong leadership, clarity of purpose, and cautious use of resources. The Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC) is an inter-tribal, co-management agency committed to the implementation of off-reservation treaty rights on behalf of its eleven Ojibwe member tribes. Formed in 1984 and exercising authority specifically delegated by its member tribes, GLIFWC's mission is to help ensure significant, off-reservation harvests while protecting the resources for generations to come.

The Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO) is an international, nonviolent, and democratic membership organisation. Its members are indigenous peoples, minorities, and unrecognised or occupied territories who have joined together to protect and promote their human and cultural rights, to preserve their environments, and to find nonviolent solutions to conflicts which affect them.

IAPH supports research to address the special health needs of Canada's Aboriginal people. The Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health (IAPH) was established in June 2000, along with the twelve other Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Its role is to lead a national advanced research agenda in the area of aboriginal health and promote innovative research that will serve to improve the health of aboriginal people in Canada.

The Alaska Native Science Commission (ANSC) was established in 1994 to bring together research and science in partnership with the Native community.  It serves as a clearinghouse for proposed research, an information base for ongoing and past research and an archive for significant research involving the Native community.  ANSC provides information, referral and networking services for researchers seeking active partners in the Native community and communities seeking research partners..

The NCAI was founded in 1944 in response to termination and assimilation policies that the United States forced upon the tribal governments in contradiction of their treaty rights and status as sovereigns. NCAI stressed the need for unity and cooperation among tribal governments for the protection of their treaty and sovereign rights. Since 1944, the National Congress of American Indians has been working to inform the public and Congress on the governmental rights of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
