This site is really fun, and I think it would work for ALL ages:-) When I use it is when the kids are learning about a plot graph. We will read a short story that has clear elements (exposition, complications, etc), then the kids will have to change the story into their own words, showing me in each cartoon slide, that they understand what those elements are.

Voki - Personal Avatars - 2 views

This site enables you to create a speaking avatar. It can be used to teach characterization or for presenting information in which students need to use oral language. The avatar can speak from recording your voice over a phone or typing in text.

This is a great way to make an avatar of yourself to add to a blog or website. I'm hopefully going to incorporate this into one of my projects for Mrs Hudiburgs class. Hopefully it will be as easy as it looks. So far it has been, just waiting for it to upload!

I put a Voki on my blog last semester. It was fun to do and I could see some benefits if we could use it for students who have been absent or who may be home bound for some reason as well as the other possibilities.

A great way to give a daily message to the students. Can have the students record lunch menu for the class to hear each morning.

Voki is a free service that allows you to create personalized speaking avatars and use them on your blog, profile, and in email messages. I personally have two of them on my teacher website. Sometimes you have to spell phonetically in order to get the Avatar to pronounce things correctly, but other than that, it is a blast creating them.

With Yacapaca, teachers can create quizzes, surveys, tests, etc.; discover, modify and share assessments; mark automatically, analyze with tools that improve your teaching, and more. Students use Yacapaca to learn faster and have fun while learning. They can even set up their own, completely personalized e-portfolios. This would be a great classroom resource for teachers as well as students. The e-portfolio options would be a great way for students to showcase and reflect on their best work.

When you register on this free site, you get access to already created assignments/tests and you have the ability to create your own. You can then check the results and have immediate data.

MyPyramid Blast Off Game - 1 views

  •
This website was designed by the United States of Agriculture. This particular activity teaches the importance of getting a variety of food from the food pyramid and the serving size of such in a rocket ship format. Students can reach Planet Power by fueling their rocket with food and physical activity. "Fuel" tanks for each food group help students keep track of how their choices fit into MyPyramid. Students will understand the food pyramid better and have fun while learning about it!

This website offers a neat way for students to create their own books. I know that I've had some students who just hate to write, but I really think if they could create a story on the computer with illustrations they would love it. The stories can be printed in a paper copy, published online, and ordered in hardback form. I just think that this website would really appeal to elementary age students and would be a fun way to publish some of the work that they do.

This sounds promising. It would be much easier for me than a scanner.

This sounds great for elementary or middle school or perhaps a specialized project for secondary.

This looked interesting for organizations or groups at school. However, when I checked out the web site, it wasn't what was described here.

This is a fun website for creating picture frames, animations, word montages, creative messages, custom images and more. You can invite friends to share ideas and work. This could easily be used for creative work in the classroom.
