Watch this video and in class discussion answer the following questions: Is the epidemic of cyberbullying virus already in our school? Who has it? How fast is spreading around us? What are the consequences of this virus in students' life? What can teachers do? What can parents do? Is any cure available? What campaign do students can do as prevention or intervention? What can we do as school community to care about each other? After the discussion, in groups of 5 students will create a poster about how as school community we can work together to cure this epidemic. Posters will be paste around the school.

Prevention is an essential component to stop cyberbullying. Younger students used to know what to do if someone is bullying them, however, they struggle of how to do it.  Your task is to read and go through the steps of how to stop cyber bullying; then in groups of 5 create a prevent video for 4th and 5th grade students.  Once your video is revised and ready your team will visit a classroom and present the video to the students.  Your team will motivate the students to use technology in an appropriate way. 

Amanda Todd is currently an example of the anti-cyber bullying movement. After posting her tragic video before she took her own life, people are outraged by what happened. Read the complete story and imagine a similar case happening in our own city. Write a letter to the person who is being bullied and in it write the reason why you are writing this, compliment the person and show the person how beautiful life is. Be sure to use a good writing format and use the rubrics for the 6 Traits  of writing, focussing on: organization, word choice, support, voice, mechanics, and sentence fluency. 

Cyber bullying has become one of the most prevalent types of bullying. Please read the Cyber Bullying statistics, and in groups of 4, discuss what types of cyber bullying are more frequent in your school.  In your teams, you are going to design a google forms survey to collect data. Then as whole group you will vote for the best one to be send to at least 10 people your age.  During class, the data collected will be discuss and analyzed.

In the next web page you'll find a real case of a teen who was a victim of cyber bullying. Read her story and write a support letter to her parents, don't forget to use the formal style for writing letters as you learned in class.

The purpose is to create awareness of how cyber bullying destroy self esteem in kids. Design a Campaign using posters, brochures, stickers, pencils and post its with messages to prevent and combat cyber bullying. How can cyber bullying affect individuals? The expectations are: You are going to use www.edu.glogster.com and create a "glogster" to prevent cyber bullying at your school. Remember to include tips about how to prevent it and tips for identifying it. Don't forget that you need to use the templates that are free.

Go to this website and read how the growth of social media has given teenagers more options to bully. Instead of the playground, bullying now takes place on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or via Instant Messages. To prevent this from deteriorating we must take action and raise awareness about cyber bullying, and declare it as something that we do not support. Read the following article of CNN Health and answer the following questions: 1) Why do you think Cyber bullying rates have increased so much in the last years? 2) How do you think you can prevent cyber bullying at your school? 3) How do you think parents can help to stop cyber bullying at home?

Please have a look at this video. This video gives a clear example of cyber bullying in action. Many times, it seems that you are talking to one person but this person is actually talking to other people, who encourage the bully with things to say. It might seem innocent what you write, but the person receiving it, might perceive it differently. It is always important to think before you write, cause your actions can have bad consequences. Together with a group of 4, create an own 3-5 minute video raising awareness on cyber bullying. This video has to have a clear description of what cyber bullying is, how to recognize it, how to report it, and a strong message against it. It will be shown to students of other grades to raise awareness inside our school.
