This is a tool that I wanted to share because I know in ILT a lot of people tout using Adobe Captivate for various projects. I recently came across Active Presenter, which has a no-time-limit free version that does all of the basic features of Captivate, most notably screen capturing. One of the obstacles I run into with project management is having everyone on a project team understand how to use various resources. If you have an SME who would be willing to make a quick screen capture of how to use a tool and record it using this program, it will save a lot of time getting everyone on the same page.

Nice general ID blog with a good number of articles about project managment in realtion to eLearning. This article in particular had some nice tips.

I like the idea of educating SME's about the process so they understand why making last minute changes makes it difficult for us.

Simple and concise, this article offers some sound advice on managing eLearning projects.  I love the analogy presented in the opening introduction that project management is like herding a bunch of wild cats in one direction.  It really is true that the project manager is in a position that requires them to deal with people of all different personalities and moods.

Lou Russel frequently contributes to ASTD and has a book called Project Management for Trainers. This links to the resources available on her website.

I recently attended a two-day ASTD certificate course she did in conjunction with the TechKnowledge conference in Las Vegas. It was informative and she has a unique approach that really presented some of the concepts in a straight-forward manner/ Of course, in two days you can only dig so deep but I would recommend the course for those new to project management.

A useful article providing some tips on using technology to assist eLearning project management.

I found this to be an interesting article because it's from Kineo. In my first semester in this ILT program, my first group and I presented on Kineo eXe, an eLearning authoring tool. The article talks about the use of MS Project, a timesheet system, a bug database, and a collaborative tool. All of these are needed to manage an eLearning project. There are tools that offer more than one of these options, such as SharePoint as a collaboration tool and bug database, but with a cost. The article lists other options as well and I'd like to investigate the tools listed there more to see if there are free options.

This is an extensive article in the form of a presentation about eLearning Project Management. It has some great charts and graphs showing the compromises needed such as the image showing the compromise between time, quality, and money.

This is a video from the EDUCAUSE 2011 Conference where Loyola University presented its modification to Project Risk -- a game where your team competes against others to complete a project. It' an interesting resource about using game learning to teach PM. You can learn more about it at http://www.successfulprojects.com/Store/ProjectRiskBoardGame/tabid/68/Default.aspx.

Zoho offers a suite of online web applications geared towards increasing your productivity and offering easy collaboration. Zoho's online office tools include a word processor, spreadsheet application, presentation tool, hosted wiki, notebook, CRM, Database software, etc. I have used it for some of the database applications. They also have a Project Management tool. The collaboration tools could also be used by members of a project team to share documents and to work together on projects. The American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) is a non-profit association for workplace learning and performance professionals. They describe this certification program as "...presents concrete steps to improve your project management skills. Participants will learn to manage the critical project management role helping deliver learning and performance solutions that better support their business goals."

This is a great tool to make graphic representations for projects.

Great SlideShare presentation given by Kim Mckee and Kimberly Klotz at the Teaching with Technology Conference at UAMS in July 2013. Includes Project Management phases as it relates to the ADDIE Model.

Clear and easy to understand. One item that stood out is the 'goals are defined by stakeholders'. When goals/definitions are clear from the beginning then it is easier to mover forward.

The GoToMeeting platform can be used for meetings for groups in which all teammates are not in the same location.

I have used GoToWebinar and I loved it. It is easy to use and professional looking. I am curious to try GoToMeeting and GoToTraining.

It is interesting to me that so many people like GoToMeeting/Webinar/Training. I've had mixed experiences with it. It lacks some of the functionality of other tools like Adobe Connect (chat features vary depending on which version you have, playing videos is very problematic, relies on screen sharing to share documents and do presentations). We do a lot of webinars, many with very large audiences (300-1000 people). While this is fine for meetings and daily business. I don't recommend this for large groups., It also isn't good if you want to have a virtual room when you can leave your documents, notes etc.
