I love these guys... always simple and straight forward. For me this is a bit of a reality check. When things get a little too heavy and a little too complex, it's good to focus on the basics.

Tom Kuhlmann's advice is always practical when it comes to eLearning design and I see his advice about project management is no different. I found his advice to not view the things he discusses as a linear progression but as a set of activities that need to be done to get through a project.

I like something that is so practical and simple. Good advice we all need to keep in mind and in an easy-to-read format.

A quick video about one successful e-learning project management approach. She includes a section for story-boarding in her process, which I think is a really cool creative step between instructional design and production.

I love practical tools like this. I can easily see tweeking this a little and using it as part of my team's process. I'll add this to the stack for my case study.

In the article it mentions the concept of "Work Backwards." In education, when planning, it is called "Backwards Design," beginning your plan at where you want to end up, which is usually the the state standard of learning.

There is a huge variety of project management applications out there. Most are general purpose apps, not aimed at any one industry. But there are a growing number of project management apps aimed specifically at one industry or another. Applications geared toward creative types are becoming more readily available, and some of the offerings are really quite good.

In research and and evaluation these checklists can be incredibly useful. It may be a stretch to apply them to project mgmt for instructional design but there are many links to proposal development that are thought provoking.

This is a pretty accessible, concise outline for using ADDIE for project management in ID. I find it interesting because there is criticism that ADDIE is not adequate for project management, but I am still not entirely sure why. This adaptation looks pretty sound.

This is a link for the University of Michigan Project Management Methodology - designed for use in managing the Information and Technology Services (ITS) projects. This site has several document templates with column descriptions to help with comprehension of different steps for managing projects. It has a nice excel template for project deliverables for people who need a little help getting the ball rolling in excel.

This is a pretty neat tool I came across the other day. It's called Quizlet, and it lets you create flashcards and other games... for Free! I like it because you could use it to send out some pre pr post training materials, (acronyms, terms, ect.)

This is great! I use Brainscape.com to put in flashcards for my Spanish students. There is an app in the app store that pairs with it called "Flashcardlet" so that you can do flashcards on your mobile. I don't know if there is android app for it, but I'm sure there is.

Managing elearning projects requires good communication between the instructional designers and subject matter experts. In most cases, this communication happens via email. Thus, better email communication ultimately leads to better project management, which most likely means better elearning courses. There is a lot of information on this site! They could use a little help with their web design to make it a little less overwhelming though...

I love this approach to communication! I've used in all aspects of my work and personal communications and when I really implement it has really helped me navigate some high conflict situations. It does take practice and is easier to work with if you have others you can engage with to practice the techniques.
