Although our class has already discussed MS Project, I didn't notice it on our resource list here. It is a great addition to MS Products, such as SharePoint. Teams can manage their parts of projects in SharePoint and add their smaller tasks as needed. Unfortunately it is still something feared and underused. MS project is pretty much the standard for PM; however, it pricey and takes some getting use to operate. There are other alternatives i.e. OpenProj .14.

This is a free version of Microsoft Project. It does require you to download it to your computer

A useful article providing some tips on using technology to assist eLearning project management.

I found this to be an interesting article because it's from Kineo. In my first semester in this ILT program, my first group and I presented on Kineo eXe, an eLearning authoring tool. The article talks about the use of MS Project, a timesheet system, a bug database, and a collaborative tool. All of these are needed to manage an eLearning project. There are tools that offer more than one of these options, such as SharePoint as a collaboration tool and bug database, but with a cost. The article lists other options as well and I'd like to investigate the tools listed there more to see if there are free options.

I'ts great to have all of these in one place. It allows you to compare them together. Two I have looked at for use in Education are ZOHO and Huddle.

Open Source desktop project management software. This is an awesome tool for those of us without access to the likes of MS Project.

It looks great, but I'm always suspicious about what type of Trojan I might download with these programs. Has anyone used it successfully?

Perhaps this is an obvious post, but I still run across people who don't have a searchable, organized or unorganized online notebook, notepad, or repository of anything and all things you want to remember or keep track of. I've used it for smaller projects, to contain all of the lengthy articulations that are then hyperlinked to more formal Word documents or Excel charts. It's a phenomenally useful tool.

I love Evernote because it's accessible from several mobile devices. I especially like their app (I'm using Android), because it's easy to use and fast. You could add multiple people to the account and share checklists, wiki-like notes pages, and calendar items. I'm not sure it would be ideal for huge projects with many parts, but it would be perfect for organizing a small collaboration or just for organizing your own work.

This is a good overview tutorial of MS-Project. Shows how to create tasks, assign resources, and schedule them in the Gantt Chart.

I like that you do not have to create a log in to use the program. Also the ease of use. Very intuitive.

The tool is very intuitive to use. It has the ability to export as an image, word document or MS project file. That's an important feature. Looks like a great tool.
