ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain left for Istanbul, Turkey on Wednesday to represent Pakistan at the 13th Islamic Summit Conference being held there. The conference has been organised by Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and will continue till April 15.
UNITED NATIONS: Foreign Ministers of Islamic countries have called for resolution of the decades-old Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India. At their annual coordination meeting Friday, the foreign ministers of 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) adopted the reports of various OIC Contact Groups, including the one on Jammu & Kashmir, which reaffirmed the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions.
BRATISLAVA: Thousands of people joined anti-migrant protests in three eastern European capitals on Saturday after leaders from the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia opposed an EU scheme to fix refugee quotas. In the Polish capital Warsaw, nearly 5,000 people, many chanting anti-Islamic slogans, marched through the city, an AFP correspondent said.
BEIRUT: Russian jets launched a fourth day of air raids in Syria Saturday, a monitor said, hitting the Islamic State group's main stronghold after claims Moscow was instead targeting moderate rebel factions. "Several Russian strikes hit IS positions west of Raqa overnight and explosions were heard in the city," Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told AFP.
KARACHI: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal (moon-sighting) Committee has confirmed the sighting of Muharram moon, the first month of Islamic calendar. Thursday will be the first day of Muharram while Ashura will be marked on October 24. Mufti Abdul Qavi, a member of the committee, told SAMAA that Muharram's moon was sighted.
