The Board of Directors of the Montana Indian Education Association invites you to join them at this year's conference, "Leading the Change in Indian Education: Our Culture and Traditions are our Strength" which is dedicated to investigating issues and best practices as we share frustrations and innovative approaches to ensure that Indian students at all levels of the educational system receive a high quality education that prepares them for the future they envision. Some topics include innovative approaches to meeting Indian Education For All, school reform, common core standards implementation, dual enrollment for high school students, and changes in Higher Education and Public School funding.

Strengths-Based Coaching is a 12 hour training that will fundamentally change the way coaches and leaders support and sustain quality improvements in their programs, agencies, and school districts. This practical approach for working with adults enhances the coaching role of leaders, building on their strengths, knowledge, and skills. Strengths-Based Coaching is based on five foundations: adult learning theory, core beliefs, how to approach others, relationship building, and communication. These five foundations lead to positive feedback that creates partnerships and builds on the strengths of staff.

The OPI's Education of Homeless Children and Youth Program encourages districts to attend regional trainings or to contact your local RESA to schedule staff trainings in your district. This training is appropriate for superintendents, transportation directors, principals, clerks, school counselors, parent liaisons or other personnel who provide services to homeless children and families. Staff from community agencies that provide services to homeless children and families are also invited to attend this training. Community agency staff members will learn how to advocate for their clients and how to effectively collaborate with schools. OPI Renewal Credits will be issued at the end of the training Workshop.

What:
Network with Montana educators as we explore and use digital tools to enhance global learning and engage students in the Common Core standards. Wes Fryer, author of Mapping Media to the Common Core, will be a guest as we3ll as regional technology and curriculum experts to share what is new and what works in the classroom. Participants will identify connections between digital tools and common core standards, practice using digital tools to implement Common Core standards into their practice, and create at least one product that can be used in their work setting during the upcoming school year.
