A local non-profit awards Houston students with computers to help with education. Comp-U-Dot takes donations in the form of computers and refurbishes them, later giving them away to students. If it weren't for these refurbished computers these students would not have word processing, spreadsheet, or internet capabilities.

This article shows how governmental agencies are using technology tools to help gather the taxes that people have failed to pay in the past. This technology tool analyzes the data that has been collected about an individual and uses that to compare the different ways of going about collecting the past due taxes. Using this analyzing tool allows the government to spend less resources trying to collect the taxes and also has proven to increase the amount of past taxes that are collected.

UK based nonprofit helped out Nigeria with an electronic tax collection system.

NASA originally developed an LED device to monitor plant growth in space but has remarkable impact for cancer patients. High Emissivity Aluminiferous Luminescent Substrate, or HEALS, has helped reduced painful side effects from chemo, and other radiation treatment for cancer patients.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency awarded $2.7 million to Lockheed Martin Corp. to develop military command and control systems. This system will help commanders on the field track other systems and strategize on the fly. This system will also monitor fighters and their communication and weapons.
