A former Ramsey, N.J., police officer was acquitted of child sexual assault Monday, but was convicted of child endangerment. Jeffrey Kimmel, 49, faces up to 10 years in prison following his conviction on Monday, according to a Record of Wooldland Park report. Kimmel was a patrol officer with the Ramsey Police Department. During the trial, prosecutors said Kimmel fondled a 6-year-old girl in a relative's home in 2010. But the defense claimed the girl's "sketchy memory" meant Kimmel should be acquitted on both counts.
