Stats about impressive growth of work under CreativeCommons licenses. A good scheme to show how it is growing.
"Approximate Minimum Total CC Licensed Works as of December 2010: 400+ million "
Unglue is an initiative for books that could be tested within the FARM-Lab research, in the business model research part, to "unglue" usefull patents, by negotiating with owners of patents to by their patent entirely, and "unglue it".
unglue.it aim in "ungluing" non-free contents by paying to have books under exclusive license to be "freed"
Quote of their website :
"What if you could give a book to everyone on earth? Get an ebook and read it on any device, in any format, forever? Give an ebook to your library, for them to share? Own DRM-free ebooks, legally? Read free ebooks, and know their creators had been fairly paid? "
It works, and uses alternattive business model of crowdfunding to unglue. It couuld be used for hardware patents.

It is now clear that users often innovate, and that they often freely reveal
their innovations. But what about informal cooperation among users?
What about organized cooperation in development of innovations and
other matters? The answer is that both flourish among user-innovators.
Informal user-to-user cooperation, such as assisting others to innovate, is
common. Organized cooperation in which users interact within communi-
ties, is also common. Innovation communities are often stocked with use-
ful tools and infrastructure that increase the speed and effectiveness with
which users can develop and test and diffuse their innovations.
"Scientific coordination of the FIRE EU Large-scale integrating project (IP) CONFINE on "Community Networks Testbed for the Future Internet" (10/2011-9/2015)
Scientific coordination of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in Distributed Computing EMJD-DC (a 5 year contract starting in 2011/2012)
Scientific coordination of the national research project Delfin: Self-adapting distributed systems for the Future Internet (TIN2010-20140-C03-01)

"I think we both understand that this is the key; "A further step would consist in setting up a more permanent collaboration mechanism (forum? Network?) for integration/coordination of efforts between different initiatives" The hard part is figuring out how it may be implemented so it brings together (the secretariats of) so many publicly funded initiatives; both in Europe and on other continents. E.g. Paradiso's terena's, geant's, NEM's, epractice's, global plaza's, etc, etc.
Fundamentally, we have this problem with publicly funded initiatives that there is little coordination to be SEEN going on between NCP."
To co-design the FP7 proposal for OSE, we need first :
1) List of potential partners in the following domains : a) OpenHardware strong organization in Europe, such as (maybe, if strong enough) Arduino
b) Organizations leading topics related to FP7 call 5.5., already involved in previous 5.5 projects.
c) chambers of agriculture or a coordination of renewable enegies (depending on which tool/machine we plan to propose to develop within the FP7 project)
Besides, we will anyway try to have as partners : - ENoLL - chambers of commerce -------------------------------------------
2. State of the art in Social innovation considering DYI & openHardware a) in EU priviously funded projects b) worldwide at any time (even in 19th century, to show we really know the SoA)
-------------------------------------------------
3. A list of existing schemes (graphical presentations) about the tiopic 5.5., and existing oupzts of previous social innovation "5.5-alike" projects, to show the existing "visions" ans structures.
discussion today with M. Furrer, the National Contact Point Switzerland to help writing FP7 proposals.
1. Delegates of small-sized social networks have been proposing this new call 5.5. Groups like Xing... It is good to implicate as partner one of them... (Xing or another social network)
2. This call 5.5. concerns already existing technologies.
"During September and October, several academic institutions across Europe are hosting Information Days to explore the 'Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and Social Innovation' (CAPS) initiative, which will provide funding for research within call 10 of the workprogramme 2013 of the EU ICT programme (Objective ICT-2013.5.5).These information days will provide the opportunity for networking among participants and preparation of proposals among this call and objective."
"Computer-aided design (CAD), also known as computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) , is the use of computer technology for the process of design and design-documentation. Computer Aided Drafting describes the process of drafting with a computer. CADD software, or environments, provides the user with input-tools for the purpose of streamlining design processes; drafting, documentation, and manufacturing processes. CADD output is often in the form of electronic files for print or machining operations. The development of CADD-based software is in direct correlation with the processes it seeks to economize; industry-based software (construction, manufacturing, etc.) typically uses vector-based (linear) environments whereas graphic-based software utilizes raster-based (pixelated) environments. "We offer design and support services for optimizing and scaling Solar Fire Concentration to your needs.
To be cost-effective it's important to know exactly how big and how many Solar Fire Concentrators will meet your requirement.
Likewise, it's important to adapt the design to the cost and availability of materials and to optimize the design for the intended application.
By working with us you can go faster and farther for less cost."
