Welcome to our professional learning series on building a PLN. This series guides you step by step through the process of setting up your own PLN. It's great for people who still need to delve deeper into what a PLN actually is.
  •
This is a very information-rich site that further introduces the PLN and delves into several different avenues a teacher can take in developing their PLN, with one avenue explored being Twitter. I particularly found the Step 6: Curation page to be intriguing. This page introduces curation, the strategic collection and compilation of knowledge and media found online, and demonstrates how it can be a valuable tool for educators engaged in expanding and sharing their constant learning and teaching journeys (See the video towards the middle of the page where a teacher shows his netvibes and scoopit accounts, and the very complex ways in which teachers can organize and share knowledge from these information collection/filtering tools. VERY valuable for our fast-paced and information-heavy time.)

Wikis in the Classroom - Technology Integration for Teachers - 4 views

  •
I thought this was a good recourse because it give a clear over view on what wikis are and provides examples of ones that are being used in classrooms.
  •
This website focuses directly on the use of a Wiki in the classroom. It has focused information that is easy to read and understand. It also has sources cited at the bottom that you can explore.
  •
This website defines and explains wikis in the classroom. It is a great resource for those unfamiliar with wikis and lists their features, where to make one, how to navigate them, how they can be used, and more. It also has a list of example wikis made by teachers.

Resources:Documents - Research in the Digital Age - 0 views

  •
This is a fairly simpler resource for evaluating information you uncover. The following is an example of this: the website includes the "5 W's" one should consider when validating a resource. These W's are who? What? When? Where? and why? Since this approach to questioning a source is obviously easier to understand and explain, it could be used for lower level classes to educate the kids on what to do BEFORE they use information or a source.
