"This workshop will discuss how Chittenden Central Supervisory Union(CCSU) uses an AT Assessment Plan (ATAP) based on the SETT framework to support students with multiple or severe disabilities to enable increased access to the curriculum and independence. The ATAP and the process of implementing it will be discussed. Several extensive case studies will be reviewed. How those ATAPs were revised in subsequent years to continue supporting students will also be covered. Case studies include students with visual impairments, autism, learning impairments, speech impediments and physical disabilities. Learn how one district is making a difference for its students with severe or multiple disabilities!"
"This workshop will discuss the second and third year of utilizing iPads and iTouches district wide to support students eligible for special education. Learn from our mistakes, our many, many mistakes! Hear the details of how students have used the devices successfully in our new split model - both 1:1 with students receiving special education services and shared across the day during direct instruction with special educators. Funding, logistics, and in-depth details will be covered. Case studies will be used to outline the process and the academic successes of students. iPad utilities and apps utilized will be demonstrated and student work will be shown. Key successes will be highlighted, as will areas of the deployment needing improvement."
SpeechTechie is an effort to combine my two passions: fostering language development through contextualized intervention, and interactive educational technologies. My goal is to post several resources a week, and present each resource "through the language lens," meaning with an eye toward how the website or program would be helpful in speech and language interventions. I hope that this blog will be helpful not only to SLPs but also to ESL/ELL teachers, language arts teachers, special education teachers, or anyone who loves words
"The training materials cover the following areas of special educational needs (SEN) and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND):
Severe learning difficulties (SLD)
Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
Complex learning difficulties and disabilities (CLDD)
They are presented in 16 modules within four subject groups and look into topics such as communication and interaction, the context of specialist teaching, insights from neuroscience, working with families, and the legislation around SEND."
"This course illuminates current theories about autism together with challenges faced by people on the autism spectrum. Theories in communicating, interacting socially, managing cognitive and affective overload, and achieving independent lifestyles are covered. In parallel, the course presents state-of-the-art technologies being developed for helping improve both theoretical understanding and practical outcomes."
"Here we present 50 really useful iPad tips. We cover everything from customising your Home screen through to getting more from built-in apps like Mail and Safari."
"More than another note-taking app, PhatPad turns your iPad into an advanced brainstorming tool. Draw, write, and type your ideas then instantly share them via email, WiFi sync, Dropbox, or presentation mode. PhatPad's digital ink technology and handwriting recognition engine allows you to scribble handwritten notes and drawings and convert them into digital text, or perfect geometrical shapes"
"The use of Participatory Action Research (PAR) during the project ensures that TATE SIP is informed by stakeholder input throughout the development and evaluation phases. Outcome measures will include evaluation of device use (device skill acquisition), device usability (skills used in targeted environments), functional performance (activities of daily living affected by device use), quality of life (subjective well-being) and social participation (community integration).
To ensure the TATE SIP reaches its intended audiences-survivors of TBI and the individuals who will train them to use ATC-we are working with a national group of researchers, practitioners, consumers, and advocacy organizations to support recruitment and dissemination activities.

"Preceden Timeline Maker has been around since 2010 but this is the first time I have discovered it. Preceden is very much a timeline first and foremost. As you can seen from the annotated screenshot above, it has an easy to follow layout that presents as a clearly labelled timeline of events."
"Rather than discussing one particular app in detail, this post presents the bigger picture by discussing three different user profiles whose needs are different with regards to PDF annotation and management. Once you know what type of user you are, you can check out the overview of 10 (plus 3) apps, my personal favorites, and some thoughts on using a stylus. With all this information, finding out what app you need to annotate PDF files "your style" becomes a piece of cake."
"Adapro is a customisable multi-user word processor originally geared towards users with a learning disability or developmental disorder, such as dyslexia or autism. Building on its assistive features and emphasis on hiding interface complexities, it aims to cater a wider audience that values ease of use over functionality.
It can be downloaded and used completely free of charge for any purpose. Supports English, Spanish and Portuguese. If Java 6 or higher is already present on the computer, it doesn't even require installation. So, why don't give it a try?"
