JobTIPS addresses the social and behavioral differences that might make identifying, obtaining, and keeping a job more difficult for you. Though JobTIPS is designed for direct use by individuals with autism and other disabilities, this program (including all of the printables, assessments, and videos) is also suitable for delivery by teachers, family members, clinicians, mentors, and job coaches."

Enhancing Participation in Employment - 0 views

"Many people who have disabilities require a diverse set of strategic supports and resources in order to realize their full potential. It is through such supports and resources that these individuals can realize goals such as full, integrated competitive employment. Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), such as communication boards and devices, give a "voice" to people who experience challenges communicating in more traditional ways. This website provides on-line multimedia resources to support your journey in successfully achieving vocational goals through more independent communication. "

"Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies assist people with severe communication disabilities to participate more fully in their social roles including interpersonal interaction, learning, education, community activities, employment, volunteerism, care management, and so on. This AAC website is designed to provide access to a wide range of information and resources related to the AAC effort. It is maintained by the Barkley AAC Center and the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska."

"Individuals who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and their families have new expectations for life after high school, including attending college, becoming employed, managing personal assistance services and transportation, and having intimate relations. However, the vocabulary needed to support these socially-valued adult roles is frequently not be available in pre-programmed devices nor in commonly used visual symbol systems. This website contains vocabulary needed to participate in 8 socially-valued adult roles: * College Life * Emergency Preparedness * Employment * Sexuality, Intimacy, and Sex * Reporting Crime and Abuse * Managing Personal Assistance Services * Managing Health Care, and * Using Transportation "

Assistive Technology Data Collection - 0 views

InfoUse, in collaboration with the Research Triangle Institute (RTI), is conducting an Assistive Technology Act Data Collection Project for the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR). Our 4-year project designed and implemented a Web-based performance reporting system for the Assistive Technology Act state grants program. This system was designed to meet the information needs of the Assistive Technology Act grantees, NIDRR, and Congress, and to fulfill the requirements of the Government Performance and Results Act of 1993 (GPRA). The project is also conducting evaluation studies, described in more detail under Activities & Resources. We are creating a Chartbook on Assistive Technology that presents national estimates on the need for and use of assistive technology. The project is producing statistical estimates, by state, on the need for and use of assistive technology. The project is studying "model approaches" to capacity building systems that provide assistive technology training to professionals and individuals with disabilities. Research on employment-related assistive technology is also underway.

"Institutions of higher education are experiencing major shifts in pedagogy with teaching approaches that focus on student centered learning and increased access for learners who face challenges due to social, economic and cultural pressures. The traditional lecture based, face-to-face classroom is not as viable in light of information technology and learning tools offered by online instruction. More learners are participating in expanded learning communities unrestricted by geographical location and time restraints with more flexible access to content anytime and anywhere. The demographic composition of the college student population is shifting in response to economic, social, educational, health and political changes in the United States. In addition to students with disabilities, English language learners, and ethnic and racial minorities, other forms of diversity need to be considered in the classroom including gender, class, age, employment status, race and culture and family and work related responsibilities. Meeting the needs of these students is critical to insuring they have equitable access and opportunities to participate in higher education"
