The Roy Scrivner Research Grants provide graduate student grants (preference given to dissertation candidates) for empirical or applied research that encourages the study of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) family psychology and LGBT family therapy. Researchers from all fields of the behavioral and social sciences are encouraged to apply.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage biomedical, behavioral, and social science research that will inform the development and evaluation of regulations on tobacco product manufacturing, distribution, and marketing.  Research projects must address the research priorities related to the regulatory authority of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) as mandated by the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act (FSPTCA), Public Law 111-31. The awards under this FOA will be administered by NIH using designated funds from the FDA CTP for tobacco regulatory science. Research results from this FOA are expected to generate findings and data that are directly relevant to inform the FDA's regulation of the manufacture, distribution, and marketing of tobacco products to protect public health.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH) invites innovative, multidisciplinary, interactive, and synergistic Program Project grant applications from institutions/organizations that propose to conduct research on reproductive, developmental, behavioral, social, and rehabilitative processes that determine the health or functioning of newborns, infants, children, adults, families, and populations. The purpose of the P01 activity code is to encourage investigation of complex problems relevant to NICHD's mission and to facilitate economy of effort, space, and equipment. Under appropriate circumstances, the collaborative research effort of a Program Project can accelerate the acquisition of knowledge more effectively than a simple aggregate of research projects without thematic integration.

This announcement solicits applications for fiscal year (FY) 2014 extramural grant program, Social and Behavioral Interventions to Increase Solid Organ Donation, a grant program administered by the Division of Transplantation (DoT), Healthcare Systems Bureau (HSB), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The overall goal of this grant program is to reduce the gap between the demand for organ transplants and the supply of organs from deceased donors by identifying successful strategies that can serve as model interventions to increase deceased organ donation registration or family consent. Accordingly, this program will support sound applied research efforts to test the effectiveness of strategies that target any of the three program objectives listed below. The specific objectives of this grant program are to increase, and improve understanding of how to increase: 1)    individual commitment to be a deceased organ donor and documentation of that commitment 2)    consent of family (or others authorized to consent) for organ donation for a deceased relative 3)    commitment of parents/legal guardians to authorize organ donation for a minor child in the event of the child's death

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit innovative social, behavioral, health services, and policy research that can directly and demonstrably contribute to the elimination of health disparities. Projects may involve primary data collection or secondary analysis of existing datasets. Projects that examine understudied health conditions; examine the effectiveness of interventions, services, or policies for multiple health disparity populations; and/or directly measure the impact of project activities on levels of health disparities are particularly encouraged.

The Sociology Program supports basic research on all forms of human social organization -- societies, institutions, groups and demography -- and processes of individual and institutional change. The Program encourages theoretically focused empirical investigations aimed at improving the explanation of fundamental social processes. Included is research on organizations and organizational behavior, population dynamics, social movements, social groups, labor force participation, stratification and mobility, family, social networks, socialization, gender roles, and the sociology of science and technology. The Program supports both original data collections and secondary data analysis that use the full range of quantitative and qualitative methodological tools. Theoretically grounded projects that offer methodological innovations and improvements for data collection and analysis are also welcomed.

The Abe Fellowship Program encourages international multidisciplinary research on topics of pressing global concern. The program fosters the development of a new generation of researchers interested in policy-relevant topics and willing to become key members of a bilateral and global research network. In partnership with the SSRC, the Japan Foundation Center for Global Partnership (CGP) established the Abe Fellowship Program as its flagship program in 1991. The Abe Fellowship Program now includes three core elements: the Abe Fellowship, the Abe Fellowship for Journalists, and the CGP-SSRC Policy Forum. Founded through the efforts of Shintaro Abe, former Japanese minister of foreign affairs, the mission of CGP is (1) to promote collaboration between Japan and the United States, with the goal of fulfilling shared global responsibilities and contributing to improvements in the world's welfare, and (2) to enhance dialogue and interchange between Japanese and US citizens on a wide range of issues, thereby improving bilateral relations.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), working in part with funds contributed by the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (http://obssr.od.nih.gov/index.aspx ), is to provide infrastructure support for advancing development of specific emerging and high priority interdisciplinary areas of behavioral and social research of relevance to aging. The infrastructure support will facilitate research networks through meetings, conferences, small scale pilots, training, and dissemination to encourage growth and development of specified priority areas and of resources for the field at large. Projects are solicited that will develop, strengthen, and evaluate transdisciplinary approaches and methods for basic behavioral and/or social research.

The Soros Justice Fellowships Program's Media Fellowships support writers, print and broadcast journalists, bloggers, filmmakers, and other individuals with distinctive voices proposing to complete media projects that engage and inform, spur debate and conversation, and catalyze change on important U.S. criminal justice issues. The Media Fellowships aim to mitigate the time, space, and market constraints that often discourage individuals from pursuing vital but marginalized, controversial, or unpopular topics in comprehensive and creative ways. Media Fellowships are 12 months in duration, and fellows are expected to make their projects their full-time work during the term of the fellowship. The purpose of the APS is to publicize the United States Government's (USG) plan to fund one award through USAID/Washington's Office of Population and Reproductive Health (PRH) to support a broad range of social science and behavioral research and technical assistance on a focused set of family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) issues. The objective of the APS is described below. Funds may support activities that develop and test scalable interventions to achieve social and normative change for FP/RH outcomes; build on existing activities to test evidence-based practices/interventions in new settings; provide technical assistance for replication and scale up of successful interventions; and monitor and evaluate the impact and sustainability of scale up of evidence-based interventions, including evaluation of current or previous activities funded by USAID or other donors. The award under this APS will contribute to PRH's strategic objective of advancing and supporting FP/RH programs worldwide and health objectives of reducing unintended pregnancies, abortion, and improving maternal and child health. This APS will address two cross-cutting issues for PRH, gender and youth, which are also Agency-wide focal areas as highlighted in USAID's Youth in Development Policy and Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy.
