The Regional English Language Office (RELO) in the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Islamabad of the U.S. Department of State (hereafter referred to as "RELO Pakistan") is pleased to announce an open competition for assistance awards through this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). RELO Pakistan's purpose in funding projects under this opportunity is to improve human capacity by creating a healthier, better educated, and more skillful workforce. The educators and youth who participate in this program will increase their English language proficiency and critical thinking skills, becoming more productive members of their community. They will be able to apply the new skills learned in the program to improve their teaching (educators) or to make them more competitive for future education employment opportunities (students).

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that advance human rights and rule of law; support civil society engagement and leadership on peacebuilding, coexistence, and conflict mitigation in Syria; provide support for survivors of torture and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV); and promote peaceful coexistence, transitional justice, and accountability.

The Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program was established by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase the number of faculty from historically disadvantaged backgrounds who can achieve senior rank in academic medicine and dentistry and who will encourage the development of future physicians and dentists from similar backgrounds. The program defines the term "historically disadvantaged" to mean the challenges facing individuals because of their race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or similar factors. In 2018, the program will award up to ten four-year postdoctoral research. Recipients will receive an annual stipend of up to $75,000 each, complemented by a $30,000 annual grant toward support of research activities.

The Polish Studies Association is pleased to announce its inaugural Dissertation Research Award. This award, in the amount of XXXX, aims to assist dissertation research on any topic in the humanities and social sciences that makes significant contributions to the study of Poland and/or Poland in a global context. Applications and letter of recommendation are due MM/DD/2018.

The Endometriosis Foundation of America focuses its grant funding on institutions and agencies conducting investigations related to disease etiology, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, co-morbidities, epidemiology and burden of disease, quality of life impact, and the economic impact of endometriosis. To that end, the foundation will award ten grants of up to $25,000 each to promising researchers and scientists in a position to lead the next generation of endometriosis research and create a solid foundation of preliminary evidence for future scientific advances.

The Administration for Children and Families, Administration for Native Americans announces the availability of Fiscal Year 2018 funds for the Native American Language Preservation and Maintenance - Esther Martinez Immersion (EMI) program. EMI provides funding for community-based projects that ensure continuing vitality of Native languages through immersion-based instruction. Programs funded under the EMI funding opportunity announcement must meet the requirements for either a Native American Language Nest, or a Native American Survival School. As defined by Esther Martinez Native American Languages Preservation Act (42 U.S.C. 2991b-3(b)(7). Pub. L. 109-394), Language Nests are "site-based educational programs that provide child care and instruction in a Native American language for at least 10 children under the age of seven for an average of at least 500 hours per child," and Native American Survival Schools are "site based educational programs for school-aged students that provide at least 500 hours per year per student of Native American language instruction to at least 15 students".

The Albert Einstein Fellowship supports creative, interdisciplinary thought by giving young scholars the chance to pursue research outside their previous area of work. Candidates must be under 35 and hold a university degree in the humanities, in the social sciences, or in the natural sciences. Applications for 2019 should include a CV, a two-page project proposal, and two letters of recommendation. All documents must be received by April 15, 2018. At the end of the fellowship period, the fellow will be expected to present his or her project in a public lecture at the Einstein Forum and at the Daimler and Benz Foundation. The Einstein Fellowship is not intended for applicants who wish to complete an academic study they have already begun. A successful application must demonstrate the quality, originality, and feasibility of the proposed project, as well as the superior intellectual development of the applicant. It is not relevant whether the applicant has begun working toward, or currently holds, a PhD. The proposed project need not be entirely completed during the time of the fellowship, but can be the beginning of a longer project. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO FELLOWSHIPS WILL BE GIVEN FOR DISSERTATION RESEARCH. THE PROPOSED PROJECT MUST BE SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT IN CONTENT, AND PREFERABLY FIELD AND FORM, FROM THE APPLICANT'S PREVIOUS WORK.

Purpose of Program: NACTEP provides grants to improve career and technical education (CTE) programs that are consistent with the purposes of the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (the Act) and that benefit Native Americans and Alaska Natives. Background: This notice invites applications for a NACTEP competition that implements section 116 of the Act, enacted August 12, 2006. Section 116 of the Act authorizes the Secretary to award grants to, or enter into cooperative agreements or contracts with, Indian Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Alaska Native entities to operate CTE projects that improve CTE for Native American and Alaska Native students.

The purpose of this FOA is to support Administrative Supplements to active NIMH grants to foster research across the NIMH Strategic Objectives that target the reduction and elimination of mental health disparities by race and ethnicity, geography, and socioeconomic status in the United States. This initiative aims to generate research within the scientific scope of the parent grant that identifies mechanisms underlying disparities or differences in mental health status and/or enhances optimal delivery of mental health interventions among diverse groups.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) R25 program is to support mentoring and research education activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce. The major goal of this R25 program is to establish long-term mentoring that will enable junior faculty who are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences as defined by NOT-OD-18-122, to develop a research program and obtain NIH funding. This FOA specifically invites applications from senior faculty, established researchers, and experienced mentors to develop and direct the Summer Institutes of the Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) program in order to mentor promising eligible junior faculty who have specific scientific interests in heart, lung, blood and sleep (HLBS) disorders research. To accomplish the stated overarching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences and Mentoring Activities.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits a single five-year grant application from eligible institutions/organizations to serve as the Coordination Center (CC) for the Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) Summer Institutes (SIs). This FOA runs in parallel with a separate FOA that solicits applications for the PRIDE SIs (described in detail in RFA-HL-19-002). PRIDE SIs are designed to provide research education experiences that enable junior faculty who are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences (as defined by NOT-OD-18-122) to further develop their research skills and knowledge to become competitive NIH grants applicants and scientists. The purpose of the CC is to provide programmatic support for the PRIDE program overall and to complement the activities of the SI programs as follows: Facilitate outreach, participant recruitment, candidate screening, and program-wide organization Support and assist with the identification and orientation of SI program mentors Support matriculants' research education experiences through webinar and in-person learning activities Administrate and facilitate equitable distribution of research- related resources and opportunities Facilitate coordination of research education and evaluation activities between the SI awardees, enrolled participants, and the NHLBI Develop and facilitate orientation and other skill development activities for mentors Support mentoring of program participants by assisting the SIs with the formation of participants' mentorship committees Conduct cross-site and cross-program evaluations, including use of data from previous PRIDE cohorts to document program accomplishments, trends and trajectories.

The U.S. Embassy in Costa Rica of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program (or project) in the following focus areas: - improve the quality of English language education at the secondary and higher education levels; - improve the quality of, and access to, science, technology, engineering, arts and design, and mathematics (STEAM) education for girls at the secondary and higher education levels; - inspire entrepreneurship among youth in under-represented communities particularly among women, Afro-descendent, and indigenous communities.

Proposed activities should primarily support non-Syrian refugees in Turkey. PRM will consider funding only those projects that include a target beneficiary base of at least 51 percent non-Syrian refugees and asylum seekers. Interested NGOs should consider whether sufficient numbers of the target population are currently within their geographical reach to be able to meet this requirement, and whether - if that is not the case - they are willing to open a project in an area of high concentration of non-Syrians.

NIJ wants to encourage new, exploratory, and developmental research projects by providing support for the early stages of study development. To help facilitate this process and ensure these projects result in tangible and mutually beneficial studies, NIJ will provide small grants to scientists or technologists who wish to facilitate a new tribal-researcher investigator partnership.

CAO Islamabad's purpose in funding projects under this opportunity is to further contributions to economic growth and development of human and government capacity in Pakistan, while developing people-to-people ties and increasing understanding of and support for U.S.-Pakistan relations and American values and policy among the Pakistani public. Programming funded under this NOFO will help to strengthen ties between the United States and Pakistan through programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. To that end, all programs must include American content and/or connection with American expert/s, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. Proposals must contain a clear plan to measure and evaluate the impact of the program. Preference will be given to proposals that target audiences outside the urban centers of Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar and socio-economically disadvantaged and/or vulnerable populations. The purpose of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support research projects using a Traceback approach to genetic testing to identify unaffected individuals at increased risk for cancer in different clinical contexts and communities, including racially/ethnically diverse populations.

Lumina Foundation, in partnership with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, has announced a request for proposals (RFP) for grants that are designed to support postsecondary institutions that are implementing significant work to advance equity on campus and in the broader community. This one-time investment of $1 million will be used to support colleges and universities that are working to improve their campus climates by providing opportunities for constructive racial dialogue. Four to five grants of up to $100,000 are reserved for colleges and universities that can document their existing comprehensive efforts to advance equity on their campuses and in their communities. Additional grants of up to $25,000 will support colleges and universities that propose significant work to enhance efforts focused on issues related to equity and racial justice on campuses. This notice solicits applications for a new three-year demonstration project entitled Improving Sexually Transmitted Infection Screening and Treatment for People Living with or at Risk for HIV. The purpose of this project is to support a single organization that will work collaboratively with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) staff to promote clinical service and system-level interventions leading to an increase and/or improvements in the screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among low-income people living with HIV (PLWH) or at risk for HIV who are served by HRSA's Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) and/or Health Center Program.
