The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces the availability of approximately $975,412 to be competitively awarded for the purpose of expanding access to high-quality, comprehensive services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families through Early Head Start-Child Care (EHS-CC) Partnerships, or through the expansion of Early Head Start services. ACF solicits applications from public entities, including states, or private non-profit organizations, including community-based or faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies that meet eligibility for applying as stated in section 645A of the Head Start Act. Program Description The Sound Health program seeks to expand public understanding of the connections between music and wellness: how music is processed by the brain, how music can impact development and learning, and the therapeutic use of music for specific health conditions. Launched in 2016, Sound Health is a partnership between the National Institutes of Health ("NIH") and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts ("Kennedy Center"), in association with the National Endowment for the Arts ("Arts Endowment") (individually known as "Partner" and collectively known as "the Partnership").

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Lifetime Achievement Awards are designed to honor current full  Individual, E-, or Emeritus Members of NCTM who have demonstrated a lifetime of achievement in mathematics education at the national level. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes achievement in leadership, teaching, and service. Distinction in any of these categories can be demonstrated through performance of the nominee on the job; service beyond the requirements of the job at the state and national/international level; and service to NCTM such as offices held, committee memberships, special projects, meetings, and publications. The award may be given posthumously. Presentations are made yearly at the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition. To be eligible, nominees should have a minimum of twenty-five years of distinguished service to mathematics education.

The Toshiba America Foundation is accepting grant applications from K-5 grade school teachers for innovative science or math projects in their classroom. The foundation awards individual grants of up to $1,000 to any K-5 teacher in a public or private nonprofit school in support of a hands-on science or math education project. Funds are intended for project-related materials only. The foundation strongly encourages projects planned and led by individual teachers or teams of teachers for use in their classrooms. Summer projects or afterschool programs will not be considered. Salaries, facility maintenance, textbooks, video production, audio-visual equipment, and education research are not eligible for funding.

The Conference on College Composition and Communication is inviting proposals for its Research Initiative, which is designed to advance the organization's mission to advocate for broad and evolving definitions of literacy, communication, rhetoric, and writing (including multi-modal discourse, digital communication, and diverse language practices) and empower individuals and communities through bold, creative research. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded in support of proposals designed to investigate key challenges faced by literacy, communication, rhetoric and writing instructors and administrators in their classrooms and programs. Proposals should directly address the impact that the research might have on disciplinary and public discourse about these topics and  convey results in at least two final products: one that is addressed to a scholarly audience of researchers and teachers in the field, and one for a clearly specified audience beyond those in the field.

The NEPQR-SET program aims to enhance to enhance nurse education and strengthen the nursing workforce through the expansion of experiential learning opportunities, including the use of simulation-based technology, including equipment, to advance the health of patients, families, and communities in rural and medically underserved areas experiencing diseases and conditions that affect public health such as: high burden of stroke, heart disease, behavioral and mental health, maternal mortality, HIV/AIDS and or obesity.

OJJDP envisions a nation where our children are healthy, educated, and free from violence. If they come into contact with the juvenile justice system, that contact should be rare, fair, and beneficial to them. OJJDP supports states and communities in their efforts to develop and implement effective and coordinated prevention and intervention programs and to improve the juvenile justice system so that it protects public safety, holds justice-involved youth appropriately accountable, and provides treatment and rehabilitative services tailored to the needs of youth and their families. This program will assist OJJDP in coordination and assessment of its juvenile justice reform programs.

he U.S. Embassy Macedonia Public Affairs Section is pleased to announce that funding is available for academic year English language teaching programs that offer primary and/or secondary school students in Macedonia innovative and experiential learning opportunities to improve their English and learn about the United States. Programs should meet at least once a week throughout the academic school year, beginning in September 2017. The main objectives of this program are to: * Provide opportunities for disadvantaged students to improve their English speaking ability. * Teach about American culture and values through English language learning. * Connect students in the United States and Macedonia, so that they can learn more about each other and build relationships. * Promote inter-ethnic understanding among students in Macedonia. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is seeking to enter into a Cooperative Agreement with a U.S. Regional Arts Organization (RAO) that will administer the 2019-2020 cycle of the NEA Big Read program. The NEA Big Read is a community reading program that broadens our understanding of the world, communities, and ourselves through the joy of sharing a good book. The program annually supports approximately 75 community reading programs, each designed around a single NEA Big Read book selection. Each participating community organization: selects a book from the available titles for the entire community to read and celebrate over a 4-6 week time period; presents a series of public events about the featured book, such as book group discussions, readings, and media and arts programs; promotes participation in the program; and reports on the type and number of participants at events. Community programs each receive an NEA Big Read subgrant-ranging from $5,000 to $15,000-to undertake these activities and are provided with resources to support project programming.

Editorial Projects in Education (EPE), a nonprofit corporation based in Bethesda, Maryland, is best known as the publisher of Education Week. Since its founding in 1981, Education Week has served the nation's pre-K-12 policymakers, educators, researchers, and other influencers with independent and highly respected journalism, research, data, and community. As a leading resource in the field, Education Week engages readers with important education news, meaningful analysis, distinctive explanatory and investigative journalism, and outside opinion and commentary across a range of digital, print, and broadcast platforms, as well as through live and virtual events. As part of its mission, EPE is accepting applications for the inaugural Education Week Gregory M. Chronister Journalism Fellowship, to be awarded annually to an enterprising journalist in support of a reporting project that illuminates a significant issue in pre-K-12 education. The annual fellowship aims to support a recipient who undertakes a significant enterprising or investigative journalism project that promises to inform and educate the field and the public about a timely and important issue for pre-K-12 education. The fellowship, which is intended to be completed while the recipient continues his or her regular employment, provides financial support of up to $10,000.

Researchers may incorporate data from multiple and varied sources, span a sufficient length of time as to achieve a depth of understanding, and/or work closely with practitioners or community members over the life of the project.
