    The American Association for the History of Nursing, Inc (AAHN) initiated a grant program in 2008. The H 15 Grant, for faculty members and independent researchers; and the H 31 Pre-doctoral Grant, designed to encourage and support graduate training and historical research at the Master's and Doctoral levels. The deadline for all Grants is April 1. Only AAHN members are eligible to apply for these grants.

    Through its Science of Hope and Optimism Funding Initiative program, the association will award two-year grants of up to $250,000 for research projects that use a variety of methods to explore the nature of hope and optimism. Priority will be given to projects in cognitive, developmental, personality, health, and social psychology, as well as sociology. Interdisciplinary teams that include members from cognate areas - e.g., cognitive science, anthropology, nursing, and biology - are encouraged.

    The Nurse in Washington Internship (NIWI) Program is an annual event sponsored by the Nursing Organizations Alliance (The Alliance) and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is one of the participating organizations. The next NIWI Program is scheduled to be held March 15-17, 2015, in Arlington, Virginia (across the river from Washington DC). The Alliance sponsors the internship to promote the interests of its member groups through education, research, and health-policy activities. Over the years, more than one thousand nurses have attended NIWI, many of whom have become influential participants in the political process at state and federal levels. Deadline to apply is November 1, 2014.
