The principal investigator must be a full member of ANNA for the duration of the research project. The primary principal investigator must be a registered nurse and must have a minimum of a Masters Degree. If two (2) or more individuals are applying as co-investigators, all must be members of ANNA for the duration of the research project with at least one (1) of the co-investigators being a full member, and others being either full or associate members. Actively involved in nephrology nursing related health care services. The principal or co-principal investigator(s) who are full members of ANNA must share equal responsibility with all other co-investigators for the conceptualization and implementation of the proposed research project. Awards received beginning in September and all proposal submissions going forward will be required to use the new rates.

Founded in 1972, the Tourette Association of America (formerly known as the Tourette Syndrome Association) has emerged as the premier national nonprofit organization working to make life better for all people affected by Tourette and tic disorders. The association advances its work by raising public awareness and fostering social acceptance; working to advance scientific understanding, treatment options, and care; educating professionals to better serve the needs of children, adults, and families challenged by Tourette and tic disorders; advocating for public policies and services that promote positive school, work, and social environments; providing help, hope, and a supportive community across the nation; and empowering its community to deal with the complexities of this spectrum of disorders. To that end, grants of up to $150,000 over two years will be awarded for basic and clinical studies on all aspects of Tourette syndrome. To be eligible, investigators are required to have an advanced degree such as a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent or be allied professionals with advanced degrees such as R.N.s, Drs. of O.T., social workers, and related fields. Investigators from nonprofit and for-profit organizations can apply.

The intent of the research funded through this award is to (1) support research to alleviate, stabilize, or characterize the symptoms or deficits common to TBI and AD/ADRD, and (2) reduce the burden of care on the caregiver for individuals living with the common symptoms of TBI and AD/ADRD. Research may be proposed to either facet of the intent. Both are equally important. As part of the research strategy, all applications must include cognitive, neuropsychological, or otherwise appropriate measures.The FY17 PRARP QUAL is open to Principal Investigators (PIs) at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) from any field or discipline. As part of the application, the PI should demonstrate that the study team has experience in both TBI and AD/ADRD research. Preliminary data, while not required, are encouraged. Preliminary data may come from the PI's published work, pilot data, or from peer-reviewed literature. Applications should also address how all of the included study measures address the research strategy and the study's hypothesis or hypotheses.The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY17 PRARP QUAL will not exceed $500,000. Through the PA-16-421 (R18) grant program, AHRQ addressed "patient safety and medication research by focusing on the safe usage of medications". This perspective centers on how medications move through the health care system and how this systemic process can be improved so that patients are not harmed, while health care delivery is improved. In addition, this program encouraged "the involvement of all members of the health care team, especially patients and families; nurses, pharmacists, technicians (pharmacy and medication administration technicians), health care administrators, risk managers, and physicians across all settings of care (including in the home)". Through this mechanism, AHRQ funded "investigative research demonstration projects that examine the effective implementation of processes, policies, and behaviors that support safe use of medication as well as its sustainment and dissemination."

The purpose of the annual ISONG Nursing Research Grant award is to support research related to genetic/genomic nursing practice or to the development of genetic/genomic nursing science. Grant funding may be used as "seed" money for conducting a pilot study or for support of an ongoing research investigation with promising contribution to genetic/genomic nursing science and genetic nursing practice. All relevant research areas will be considered; however, priority will be given to studies that address genetic/genomic nursing practice or genetic/genomic health outcomes.

Leidos will match high-scoring, unfunded National Institutes of Health (NIH) proposals with private biomedical foundations and/or industries seeking to fund promising research. Foundations will have access to peer-reviewed research proposals that directly relate to their funding priorities, industry will have access to a rich pipeline of early stage and translational research proposals that align with its priorities, while applicants with strong research proposals will be provided with a second opportunity to secure funding. The foundations, industries, applicants, and NIH all will benefit from this synergy.

Award: A $2,000.00 award, a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend the Opening Ceremonies at ONS Congress. The paper will be published in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. Purpose: This award was established to focus attention of the membership on quality-of-life issues in cancer care; describe the contributions of clinicians, educators, administrators, and researchers in oncology nursing to quality of life in cancer care; apply information related to quality of life to oncology nursing practice; and incorporate the philosophy of quality of life into all aspects of cancer care. The lecture is presented at the ONS Annual Congress.

The American Association for the History of Nursing, Inc (AAHN) initiated a grant program in 2008. The H 15 Grant, for faculty members and independent researchers; and the H 31 Pre-doctoral Grant, designed to encourage and support graduate training and historical research at the Master's and Doctoral levels. The deadline for all Grants is April 1. Only AAHN members are eligible to apply for these grants.

This Notice supersedes NOT-OD-15-024 about the NIH and AHRQ requirement for use of a new biosketch format and provides some latitude in the transition for those who have already been compiling biosketches for their large grant applications with deadlines in early in 2015. NIH and AHRQ encourages applicants to use the newly published biosketch format for all grant and cooperative agreement applications submitted for due dates on or after January 25, 2015, and will require use of the new format for applications submitted for due dates on or after May 25, 2015. Applicants may submit using the new biosketch format for due dates before January 25, 2015, if they wish.

The PhRMA Foundation is accepting applications to its Health Outcomes program. Health Outcomes research spans a broad spectrum of issues related to healthcare delivery, from studies evaluating the effectiveness of a pharmaceutical intervention to the impact of reimbursement policies on outcomes of care. It also ranges from the development and use of tools to perform patient-based assessments to analyses of ways in which results of outcomes research are disseminated to providers or consumers to encourage behavior change. Through the program, one-year grants of up to $100,000 will be awarded to assist individuals beginning an independent research career in health outcomes at the faculty level. Schools of medicine, pharmacy, public health, nursing, and dentistry are eligible to apply. The program is not intended for individuals in postdoctoral training. However, those enrolled in postdoctoral training programs scheduled to conclude by July 1, 2019, and who will hold an academic appointment by that time may apply. Those holding the academic rank of instructor or assistant professor and investigators at the doctoral level with equivalent positions are eligible to apply - provided the proposed research is neither directly nor indirectly subsidized to any significant degree by an extramural support mechanism. The Eos Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by investing in children's futures. It seeks an equitable and just society where the basic human needs of all individuals are met, and where children grow up well-nourished and healthy and have opportunities for high-quality education and the tools to achieve economic self-sufficiency. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications from Massachusetts schools/districts and charter public schools for its After the Bell (ATB), Breakfast in the Classroom (BIC) program, which aims to combat childhood hunger and improve student learning.  ATB BIC is proven to increase access in and participation in school breakfast. Benefits of the program include lower absentee and tardy rates, fewer morning nurses visits and behavioral problems, and higher academic achievement. The majority of Massachusetts schools operating ATB BIC maintain 80 percent or more participation rates, drawing down USDA reimbursements that sustain the program beyond grants from private funders like Eos.  Through the program, Eos provides one-time grants of up to $10,000 to eligible Massachusetts schools/districts and charter public schools interested in making breakfast part of their school day by launching or expanding ATB BIC programming. Grant amounts are based on school enrollment: 1) $5,000 for schools with up to 300 students; 2) $7,500 for schools with between 301 and 600 students; and $10,000 for schools with more than 601 students. With more than fifty thousand members and certified professionals from ninety countries around the globe, the American College of Sports Medicine represents seventy occupations within the field of sports medicine. From academicians to students and from personal trainers to physicians, ACSM is dedicated to helping people worldwide live longer, healthier lives. To advance this mission, the association established the Research Grant Program through the ACSM Foundation, its charitable arm, in 1989. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to support basic and applied research in exercise science. Funding is primarily targeted to new or junior investigators within seven years of attaining a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD) and is expected to provide seed money support after which further funding would be sought from other sources. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for its Nursing/American Nurses Grant. Through the program, a single grant of up to $7,500 will be awarded in support of research conducted by a beginning nurse researcher or an experienced nurse researcher who is entering a new field of study. The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) seeks unclassified proposals for broad-based research and development aimed at using lasers and other light source technology to develop applications in medicine, photobiology, surgery, and closely related materials sciences, with applications to combat casualty care and other military medical problems. This announcement is primarily directed toward university-based medical institutions; however, all qualified and responsible prime applicants located in the United States are eligible to submit proposals. The highest priority will be extended to proposals up to three (3) years duration to be conducted by teams of physicians, biomedical scientists, physical scientists, and engineers. The efforts proposed may be basic or applied research, and must have direct relevance to combat casualty care or other military medical priorities. Applicants must demonstrate substantial experience working to further military medical priorities, including transitioning research into clinical practice and working products. Substantial experience collaborating with military medical centers is also a requirement to establish relevance to combat casualty care or other military medical priorities, and facilitate the transition of research results to meet military needs. The TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP) was founded in 1992 and funds and supports rigorous scientific research studies and evidence-based practice (EBP) projects in the field of military nursing. TSNRP is located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) which is authorized by 10 USC 2113(g)(1)(A) to make grants to any nonprofit entity for the purpose of carrying out cooperative enterprises in medical research, medical consultation, and medical education. TSNRP supports nurse scientists in all stages of their careers through research funding, education, and mentoring. Since its inception, TSNRP has funded over 430 research and EBP projects; 19 applications were successfully funded in Fiscal Year 2016. The mission of TSNRP is to facilitate nursing research to optimize the health of military members and their beneficiaries, with the following the five strategic goals: 1. Advance a culture of scientific inquiry and scholarly knowledge application. 2. Advocate mission critical priorities by building a military nursing research science base. 3. Expand infrastructure to support and develop nursing research and EBP. 4. Invest in military nurse scientists and programs of research. 5. Foster interservice nursing research capacity.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is seeking a Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for biospecimen and consent related activities for the Sudden Death in the Young (SDY) Case Registry. SDY is a tragic event with longstanding impact on families and communities. Although the causes of SDY are myriad, sudden unexpected infant death (SUID), sudden cardiac death and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) are three examples that have inspired public health efforts at prevention. Yet fundamental gaps in knowledge about incidence, mechanisms, and risk factors for SDY limit the identification of effective prevention efforts. This acquisition is for one contract for a SDY Data Coordinating Center with subcontracts and/or other mechanisms as needed to accomplish all necessary work described in the Statement of Work.
