High Performance Superconducting Qubit Systems (HiPS) - 0 views

  •
The U.S. Army Research Office (ARO) in collaboration with the National Security Agency (NSA) is soliciting proposals for research in High Performance Superconducting Qubit Systems. This BAA has two primary goals; (a) substantially improve the fidelity of one and two-qubit operations over current state-of-the-art performance, and (b) design and test qubits with built-in error protection. While proposals that advance both primary goals in an integrated approach are encouraged, proposers may focus on either goal individually, given the state-of-the-art of their approach. There are two types of proposals with different research scopes covered in this announcement: 1. High performance superconducting qubit systems a. High Fidelity 2-qubit gates b. Error protected qubits 2. Key supporting technology to high-performance superconducting qubits

Dynamic Range-enhanced Electronics and Materials (DREaM) - Federal Business Opportunities: Opportunities - 0 views

  •
The DREaM program will develop new materials and novel device structures to create RF/millimeter wave transistors that enable high dynamic range RF systems. Such RF systems fundamentally require either high transmitting power to increase the signal strength or high linearity signal reception to minimize the spurs or noise in the spectrum. The DREaM program will dramatically increase the output power density at the transistor level as compared to present GaN technology. In addition, DREaM devices with intrinsically higher linearity will enable circuit and system designs with superior reception at much lower power consumption penalties.

Sustainable Ammonia Synthesis - 0 views

  •
The Office of Basic Energy Sciences (BES), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), announces its interest in receiving grant applications from U.S. universities/institutions of higher education for basic research to investigate some of the outstanding scientific questions in the synthesis of ammonia (NH3) from nitrogen (N2) using processes that do not generate greenhouse gases (such as CO2, NOx, etc.). Of interest is molecular level research that will provide the scientific basis for novel catalysts and mechanisms for nitrogen activation. Ideally, this research should produce fundamental knowledge that will lead to future catalytic processes for ammonia synthesis that are energy efficient, use renewable sources of energy, and do not produce greenhouse gases. This FOA will not consider proposals on process or reactor design, optimization or plant-level intensification. Research will not be supported whose primary goal(s) or challenge(s) are hydrogen evolution, oxygen evolution, CO2 capture or conversion, or outside the specific focus on nitrogen activation. See the Summary Criteria section for more information on research areas excluded from this funding opportunity.

NineSights Community - Request for Proposal: 2aPolymers That Decompose at Low Temperatures 2c - 0 views

  •
The integration of polymer materials (fibres, etc.) into various product lines has a number of potential applications. The primary goal for the current search is to find a polymer matrix, blend or composition that decomposes at 100°C. Potential solutions which currently decompose at 250°C with a clear path to reducing (e.g. functionalising, processing, etc.) this decomposition temperature are also of high interest. The decomposition temperature is linked to the fibre length and therefore consultants and/or academics who have extensive experience in this area are highly valued.

NineSights Community - Request for Proposal: 2aHigh-sensitivity, High-speed Sensor for Detection of Hazardous Materials 2c - 0 views

  •
The Client is engaged in the development of high-throughput inspection systems for hazardous materials (explosives and/or illegal drugs), to be used at airports, etc. These inspection systems consist of a mechanism to collect particulate matters of explosives or drugs that are attached to inspection targets such as pieces of luggage or clothing, and a sensor to inspect the collected particulate matters. The development of a particulate matter collecting system has been completed, as has been the development of a high-speed, high-accuracy sensor for the detection mechanism. However, lower-cost sensors are needed for the development of less expensive versions of the system with priority given to the cost over the accuracy, intended for use in developing countries.
