The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropy dedicated solely to health, has issued a call for proposals for research on the ways that for-profit anchors advance health and well-being in the communities where they are located. Funded studies are expected to include rigorous empirical research that can inform the business case for why and how more companies serve as anchor institutions in their immediate surrounding geographies. Studies should also inform future RWJF strategies to motivate companies to act in a way that promotes health and well-being. Potential research questions might include: What factors facilitate or hinder anchor businesses from addressing health equity or social determinants of health? What are the motivations and incentives of anchor businesses across a range of sectors? What kind of equity-promoting narrative and framing resonates with the leaders of corporate anchor institutions? What interventions (led or co-led by corporate anchors) appear to be effective or show promise? What tools and resources would most help leaders of anchor businesses who are committed to community health improvement?

This report will take an in-depth look at the AbilityOne program and NCD's concerns pertaining to 14(c) certificates. NCD released a white paper in February 2019 which was a cursory look at the AbilityOne program (https://NCD.gov/publications/2019/cursory-look-abilityone). This report will pick up where the white paper ended and will include an in-depth review of how AbilityOne functions and interacts with its Central Nonprofit Agencies(CNAs) and Nonprofit Agencies (NPAs). NCD expects any proposal submitted in response to the solicitation to include how it will obtain data needed to determine the prevalence of 14(c) certificate holders among AbilityOne providers; how it will set up a partnership with the Department of Labor Office of Disability Employment and Policy (ODEP) to gather and provide concrete data showing the impact of varying scenariosPertaining to persons with disabilities and employers; and what methods will be used to examine each CNA individually. NCD also expects the final report developed by the contractor to examine what has been done to improve transparency since the 898 Advisory Panel Subcommittee to Eliminate Waste Fraud and Abuse called for improved transparency of the AbilityOne Program in July 2018. The contractor will develop recommendations and promising practices for federal agencies, state and local municipalities with the goal of improving employment outcomes for people with disabilities.

North American leaders are calling on youth to champion bold ideas for green growth. Youth are encouraged to look beyond incremental approaches and propose innovative science, technology and business solutions that address the complex sustainability challenges facing North America. Innovative ideas will: Create better or more effective products, processes, services, technologies, business models, marketing, supply chains and/or partnerships for the benefit of society, the economy and the environment. Contribute to the natural asset base of North American economies, create green jobs and/or economic opportunities for citizens in North America. Make good business sense in terms of profitability and potential for growth.

The Kauffmann Foundation offers a grant program in support of activities aimed at improving our basic understanding about entrepreneurs and the levers, tools and methods that can advance entrepreneurship in the United States. The goal being to produce tangible insights for entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship program and policy design, ecosystem builders and researchers. These grants will be up to $400,000 annually for project teams, up to $150,000 annually for individual researchers (including hiring contract or research assistance) and up to $30,000 annually for students or student teams and/or doctoral researchers. Grants will be disbursed beginning in late 2018 or early 2019. The 2018 Kauffman Knowledge Challenge: Insight to Impact supports activities aimed at improving our basic understanding about entrepreneurs and the levers, tools and methods that can advance entrepreneurship in the United States. The goal of the Knowledge Challenge is to produce tangible insights for entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship program and policy design, ecosystem builders and researchers.

The Sociology Program supports basic research on all forms of human social organization -- societies, institutions, groups and demography -- and processes of individual and institutional change. The Program encourages theoretically focused empirical investigations aimed at improving the explanation of fundamental social processes. Included is research on organizations and organizational behavior, population dynamics, social movements, social groups, labor force participation, stratification and mobility, family, social networks, socialization, gender roles, and the sociology of science and technology. The Program supports both original data collections and secondary data analysis that use the full range of quantitative and qualitative methodological tools. Theoretically grounded projects that offer methodological innovations and improvements for data collection and analysis are also welcomed.

The Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) will provide Federal assistance to support innovative projects seeking to promote and ensure the inclusion and use of minority enterprises. This Announcement is a mechanism to encourage new activities, education, outreach, innovative projects or sponsorships that are not addressed through other MBDA programs. MBDA has established key priorities designed to overcome the unique challenges faced by minority business enterprises (MBEs). MBDA is now initiating new approaches to serve MBEs that compliment Presidential priorities and U.S. Department of Commerce goals. Amendment 1 to the NASA ARMD Research Opportunities in Aeronautics (ROA) 2019 NRA has been posted on the NSPIRES site. University Student Research Challenge (solicitation NNH19ZEA001N-USRC) seeks to challenge students to propose new aeronautics ideas/concepts that are relevant to NASA Aeronautics. USRC will provide students, from accredited U.S. colleges or universities, with grants for their projects and it includes the challenge of raising a modest amount of cost share funds through crowdfunding platform. The process of creating and preparing a crowdfunding campaign acts as a teaching accelerator - requiring students to act like entrepreneurs and taking action. Crowdfunding also raises awareness about students' research among the public. The solicitation goal can be accomplished through project ideas such as advancing the design, developing technology or capabilities in support of aviation, by demonstrating a novel concept, or enabling advancement of aeronautics-related technologies. There have been a number of changes from the previous USRC pilot project, including NASA providing a larger share of funds and half of that being provided upfront. Notices of Intent (NOIs) are not required for this solicitation. Proposals can be submitted at any time and will be evaluated in three cycles: October 30, 2019, February 26, 2020, and June 24, 2020.

Competitive Base period plus four 1-year option periods for entities who operate Procurement Technical Assistance Centers to provide procurement technical assistance to US businesses.

The role of the Fulbright Distinguished Chair enables exceptional senior scholars (associate or full professor) or professionals from the United States to undertake research and/or practice of importance to RMIT in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation. This position aims to promote collaboration between Australia and the United States to stimulate interest and build capacity in innovation and entrepreneurship. The scholarship supports a 5-6 month position.

Industry has long expressed interest in the use of model-based methods and digital thread capabilities to unlock breakthrough productivity improvements across the supply chain. The automation of critical information flows such as exchange of product and procurement data and reporting of key quality measures, can enhance supply chain visibility and improve performance of the overall enterprise. This request for proposal seeks to create a roadmap and playbooks for implementing digitally-enabled supply chain practices and technologies at both OEMs and SMMs.

The Kauffman Foundation established the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research in 2008 to recognize tenured or tenure-track junior faculty members at accredited U.S. universities who are beginning to establish a record of scholarship and exhibit the potential to make significant contributions to the body of research in the field of entrepreneurship.
