This program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and related social sciences. It is hoped that projects of successful applicants will help advance digital humanistic scholarship by broadening understanding of its nature and exemplifying the robust infrastructure necessary for creating such works. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships are intended to support an academic year dedicated to work on a major scholarly project that takes a digital form. Projects may: Address a consequential scholarly question through new research methods, new ways of representing the knowledge produced by research, or both; Create new digital research resources; Increase the scholarly utility of existing digital resources by developing new means of aggregating, navigating, searching, or analyzing those resources; Propose to analyze and reflect upon the new forms of knowledge creation and representation made possible by the digital transformation of scholarship. ACLS will award up to six Digital Innovation Fellowships in this competition year. Each Fellowship carries a stipend of up to $60,000 towards an academic year's leave and provides for project costs of up to $25,000. ACLS does not support creative works (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translations, or purely pedagogical projects.

The Botstiber Institute for Austrian-American Studies (BIAAS) is accepting applications for the Botstiber Fellowship in Austrian-American Studies. The Fellowship will be awarded to a scholar or professional who seeks funds for a project that promotes an understanding of the historic relationship between Austria and the United States. A grant of up to $30,000 will be considered for support for salary, travel, or other necessary expenses. Applications from (i) graduate students, (ii) early-career professionals and (iii) mid-career professionals will be accepted. Fellowship applications must be submitted by March 31, 2014. Applicants will be notified of the result of their applications in June 2014.

This award honors the work and contributions of Thomas K. McCraw (1940-2012), who was Isidor Straus Professor of Business History at Harvard Business School. The fellowship enables established scholars from around the world whose primary interest is the business and economic history of the United States to spend time in residence at Harvard Business School. The main activities of the Thomas K. McCraw Fellow will be to conduct research in the archives of Baker Library or in other Boston-area libraries, present his or her work at a seminar, and interact with HBS faculty. The Thomas K. McCraw Fellow will receive a stipend of $7,000 to cover travel and living expenses. Fellows are expected to be in residence for a minimum of two months. Recipients of the fellowship will receive work space, an e-mail account, a phone, a computer, an ID card, and access to the University's libraries and to the HBS Intranet for the duration of the appointment.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. The Medici Archive Project (MAP), based at the Archivio di Stato in Florence, Italy, is delighted to be able to offer two fellowships, generously supported by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, for graduate students in the field of art history in 2015.  Since its foundation in 1993, the Medici Archive Project has grown from a digital humanities foundation into a research institution, all the while remaining a strong advocate of giving scholars direct access to original documents. Through the BIA platform (bia.medici.org), MAP has brought the contents of one of Europe's most important early modern archival collections, the epistolary archive of the Grand Ducal Medici, to a global audience of students and scholars. Composed of some three million letters, the collection provides an unparalleled insight into the entire early modern world, from the early sixteenth to the mid eighteenth century. Based upon this wealth of material, much of it unexplored, MAP has developed both an international fellowship of scholars and several research programs. The Kennan Institute seeks fellowship applicants from diverse, policy-oriented sectors such as media, business, local government, law, civil society, and academia to examine important political, social, economic, cultural, and historical issues in Russia, Ukraine, and the region. Among the aims of the new fellowships are to build bridges between traditional academia and the policy world, as well as to maintain and increase collaboration among researchers from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S.

The Posen Family Foundation has announced a call for applications for the 2019-21 cohort of Posen Society of Fellows, a program that supports doctoral students in modern Jewish history and culture. Designed to provide early-career support, the two-year fellowships include opportunities to participate in public engagement events and attend annual gatherings of noted academics and writers. All applicants should have completed their comprehensive exams and have their dissertation prospectus approved before January 15 of the first year for which they apply. The foundation is particularly interested in projects that would speak to a wider public beyond the academy, and applications should include an explanation for how the dissertation addresses issues of relevance to such an audience. Each fellow will receive a total of $40,000 over two years. Eligible scholars should be completing a doctoral dissertation on a topic related to modern Jewish history or culture. fellowships are open to doctoral students and writers of all religions and nationalities. The fellowships are designed to support and foster international Holocaust research. The program is aimed at established as well as younger researchers. As we are interested in a high degree of international cooperation, applications from Germany, Europe as well as from all over the world are welcome. A topic within the field of Holocaust Studies is required in order to be eligible for one of the fellowships.

The American Council of Learned Societies is inviting applications for its Getty/ACLS Postdoctoral Fellowships in the History of Art The postdoctoral Fellowships are intended to support an academic year of research and/or writing by early-career scholars on a project that will make a substantial and original contribution to the understanding of art and its history. The ultimate goal of the project should be a major piece of scholarly work by the applicant. ACLS does not fund creative work (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translation, or pedagogical projects.

Working in conjunction with the U.S. Army, the Army Heritage Center Foundation seeks to leverage the efforts of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center, an educational resource, museum, library, and archive dedicated to safeguarding and making available to the public the tangible materials of soldiers during their time of service. To that end, the foundation is currently accepting applications for the Robert L. and Robert C. Ruth Fellowship program. Through the program, one graduate student will receive a research Fellowship of $1,500 to engage in a three-week summer research program at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania Research topics need not be limited to military history and can include any subject with the potential to be supported by the vast material collection available at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center. Potential candidates must identify the resources they intend to use during their period of study and are encouraged to consult the online catalog.

New York University's Center for the United States and the Cold War announces the Agnese N. Haury fellowships and travel grants for 2018-2019. The Center for the United States and the Cold War at NYU's Tamiment Library supports research on the Cold War, especially on the ways in which this ideological and geopolitical conflict with the Soviet Union affected American politics, culture, and society. We will be offering a dissertation fellowship and several travel grants to scholars who are interested in using Tamiment's holdings to further their research.

Each year, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center offers a limited number of research stipends for promising and established visiting western scholars in our fellowship program. Scholars research, write, and develop ideas and manuscripts that expand the horizon of western studies. Fellows may pursue field research in the Cody area (i.e., the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem or the Big Horn Basin and Mountains), or work in the collections of the McCracken Research Library or one of our museum galleries.

In honor of James P. Danky's long service to print culture scholarship, the Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Historical Society, is again offering its annual short-term research fellowship with an emphasis on print culture history. The Danky fellowship provides $1000 in funds for one individual planning a trip to carry out research using the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society (please see details of the collections at http://www.wisconsinhistory.org). Grant money may be used for travel to the WHS, costs of copying pertinent archival resources, and living expenses while pursuing research here. If in residence during the semester, the recipient will be expected to give a presentation as part of the colloquium series of the Center for the History of Print and Digital Culture (http://www.slis.wisc.edu/chpchome.htm). The Bakken (Minneapolis, MN) awards short-term fellowships and travel grants to scholars and artists to support research using The Bakken's library and artifact collections. The collections address the history of electricity and magnetism (with a focus on their roles in the life sciences and medicine) and include approximately 11,000 books, journals, and manuscripts, and 2,200 instruments, medical devices, and other artifacts. The awards are to be used to help defray the expenses of travel, subsistence and other direct costs of conducting research at The Bakken for researchers who must travel some distance and pay for temporary lodging in the Twin Cities in order to conduct research at The Bakken. Visiting research fellowships are awarded up to a maximum of $1,500; the minimum period of residence is two weeks, and preference is given to researchers who are interested in collaborating informally for a day or two with Bakken staff during their research visit. Research travel grants are awarded up to a maximum of $500 (domestic) and $750 (foreign); the minimum period of residence is one week. Applications are due March 4th, 2013.

The Bertha Klausner Research Fellowship is funded through the generosity of Ms. Klausner's family and friends and is intended to provide research support for a recognized scholar. The Fellowship also is intended to facilitate the use of the Bertha Klausner Papers and other archival collections held by the American Heritage Center, University of Wyoming.

Established in 2012, the fellowship enables seven to ten practitioners of historical dialogue and accountability from conflict, post-conflict and post-dictatorial societies to engage in both training and academic study at Columbia University. Practitioners of historical dialogue include representatives of civil society organizations, journalists, filmmakers and artists. The aims of the fellowship are to build a network of historical dialogue advocates, to foster a dynamic academic environment for Fellows to initiate and develop new projects, and to facilitate discussion about the past in their respective societies.

The John Carter Brown Library (JCB) and The Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice (CSSJ) at Brown University invite applications for a joint JCB/CSSJ residential research fellowship for the academic year 2014-2015. The fellowship is open to those who have recently completed their PhDs*, assistant professors, as well as independent scholars who are working on any topic to do with the history of slavery and abolition that might benefit from extended access to the collections of the JCB, in particular, and from other collections on Brown's campus, including that of the John Hay Library. The JCB/CSSJ Fellow would be expected to be a regular participant in the activities sponsored by both host organizations, and would be eligible for housing in the JCB's fellows' residence, Fiering House, located just four blocks from the Library and five blocks from the CSSJ. The JCB/CSSJ Fellow will have the opportunity to teach a course in a department at Brown that would align with the fellow's research interests, using materials from the JCB collections.

The John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress invites qualified scholars to apply for a postdoctoral fellowship for advanced research based on the Kislak Collection. The Kislak Collection is a major collection of rare books, manuscripts, historic documents, maps and art of the Americas donated to the Library of Congress by the Jay I. Kislak Foundation of Miami Lakes, Fla. The collection contains some of the earliest records of indigenous peoples in North America and superb objects from the discovery, contact, and colonial periods, especially for Florida, the Caribbean, and Mesoamerica. The Kislak Fellows Program supports scholarly research that contributes significantly to a greater understanding of the history and cultures of the Americas. It provides an opportunity for a period of up to 8 months of concentrated use of materials from the Kislak Collection and other collections of the Library of Congress, through full-time residency at the Library. The program supports research projects in the disciplines of archaeology, history, cartography, epigraphy, linguistics, ethno-history, ethnography, bibliography and sociology, with particular emphasis on Florida, the circum-Caribbean region and Mesoamerica. We encourage interdisciplinary projects that combine disciplines in novel and productive ways.

The Myer and Rosaline Feinstein Center for American Jewish History announces a new fellowship, the Frederic Fox Memorial Summer fellowship, to support pre- and post-doctoral researchers' use of the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Collections in the Special Collections Research Center, Temple University Libraries. While the grant is for research that primarily uses the Philadelphia Jewish Archives Collections, applicants are encouraged to explore other Temple University resources in the Special Collections Research Center as well. Grantees are required to spend a minimum of one month at the SCRC facility over the course of the year.  Graduate students or recent Ph.D. graduates are eligible to apply for a grant of $2,000.  Smaller grants may also be awarded to help defray research expenses.
