Cooperative agreements under this funding opportunity announcement (FOA), Alzheimer's Disease Program Initiative (ADPI), are dedicated to the development and expansion of dementia-capable home and community-based service (HCBS) systems in States and Communities. The purpose of this RFA is to encourage studies on reproductive health, fertility and fertility preservation/treatment options in patients born with a serious chronic condition who can now expect to survive into adulthood healthy enough to consider their reproductive health and fertility options. The underlying pathophysiology of diseases such as sickle cell anemia, thalassemia, and cystic fibrosis, among others, and/or the cumulative effects of their treatment, can compromise reproductive health. This RFA encourages teams of scientists with expertise in the realm of the particular disease and in reproductive health and fertility to work together to understand the effects of the diseases and/or their treatments on parameters of reproductive health, and to identify ways to preserve, protect, or treat and reproductive deficits in these patients.

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding to maintain and strengthen the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program (RWHAP) Access, Care, and Engagement Technical Assistance Center (ACE TA Center), previously funded under Funding Opportunity Number HRSA-16-081, Building RWHAP Recipient Capacity to Engage PLWH in Health Care Access. This cooperative agreement will build the capacity of RWHAP recipients and subrecipients to ensure people living with HIV (PLWH) understand and use the range of health care coverage options available to facilitate access to and maintain engagement in care. The funded entity will work collaboratively with Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) HIV/AIDS Bureau (HAB) on a national scale to achieve the following goals: Maximize PLWH engagement in health care through increased health literacy regarding how to access and engage with the health care system, including clinicians, support service providers, and other practitioners. Increase RWHAP recipient, subrecipient, provider, and PLWH awareness and understanding of, enrollment in, and/or utilization of health care coverage options available in the evolving health care landscape. Identify or develop strategies and messages for how "Treatment as Prevention" principles can be used to increase PLWH engagement in care and maintain health care coverage by outreach workers; health educators; case managers; peer navigators; health care navigators, certified application counselors, and other assisters; and administrators. Improve health outcomes across the HIV care continuum for PLWH. Ensure RWHAP funding remains a payor of last resort.

The Orphan Disease Center works with closely with community organizations, the biotech community, and researchers to improve therapeutic treatment options for those afflicted with orphan diseases. Oftentimes genetic, orphan diseases are conditions that affect fewer than two hundred thousand individuals nationwide. Due to their relative rarity, research and funding for these conditions is largely unmet. In support of this mission, the center has partnered with the LouLou Foundation, a pioneer in CDKL5 research, and is accepting applications for the CDKL5 Program of Excellence Pilot Grant Program. Through the program, grants of up to $150,000 will be awarded in support of research focused on treatments for CDKL5 Deficiency Disorder. Those with CDD suffer from treatment-resistant seizures, severe cognitive and motor disability, as well as sensory problems. Because there are many knowledge gaps in CDKL5 research, the foundation is interested in any basic research with the potential to contribute to future treatment options. Priority areas established by the foundation include innovative therapeutic approaches for CDD, systems biology and computational modeling approaches, novel applications of functional techniques, and discovery and validation of CDKL5 biomarkers.

The primary mission of the Peter G. Dodge Foundation is to help people lead lives free from the effects of alcohol addiction. By increasing treatment options, elevating awareness, and facilitating access, the foundation works to create a new paradigm for what treatment and recovery can be. To advance this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for its Mission Grants program, which awards grants of up to $10,000 in support of programs that address alcohol-use disorder diagnosis (AUD) and referral to treatment; disseminate information about the full spectrum of treatment options that exist for AUD; help young people understand alcohol addiction and take action when it affects them; increase and update knowledge about AUD treatment in medical schools and among physicians; and/or develop or test new avenues for AUD treatment.

NCCIH encourages applications for administrative supplements to NCCIH-supported awards (see relevant Activity Codes above) to support complementary health practitioners in an intensive, supervised research experience that will lead to a better understanding of, and practical experience in, complementary and integrative health research. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support the discovery of promising candidate biomarkers that will facilitate the development of non-opioid therapeutic options for the treatment of pain conditions. The goal of this FOA is to encourage a biomarker discovery process that will result in the development of pain biomarkers that can withstand rigorous clinical and analytical validation. It is hoped that an increased availability of rigorous biomarkers for pain will facilitate the discovery and development of transformational non-opioid therapeutics for pain.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) intends to publish Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs) to re-issue Requests for Applications (RFAs) for both the Collaborative Pediatric Critical Care Research Network (CPCCRN) Clinical Centers and Data Coordinating Center. This re-competition will differ from prior competitions in that the CPCCRN grants will no longer be awarded using a Cooperative Agreement mechanism, because NIH will no longer have a substantive scientific role in performing the research.along with the investigatorsþff. The CPDPC is composed of several Clinical Centers (CC) and one Coordination and Data Management Center (CDMC) The Consortium since its establishment in Fall 2015 has conducted longitudinal clinical studies with comprehensive epidemiological and biological characterization of patients with CP (including those with Acute Recurrent Pancreatitis, ARP) to gain insight into the pathophysiology of chronic pancreatitis and its sequela: chronic pain, pancreatic insufficiency, T3cDM and the diabetes/pancreatic cancer association. The consortium has also undertaken studies on the development of pancreatic cancer in newly diagnosed diabetic patients. Applications for the Consortium Clinical Centers are being solicited via RFA-DK-19-009 "Continuation of the Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer Coordination and Data Coordinating Center (CPDPC-CCs) (U01) Clinical trial optional)". The purpose of this FOA is to seek, identify and support bold and innovative approaches to broaden graduate and postdoctoral training, such that training programs reflect the range of career options that trainees (regardless of funding source) ultimately may pursue and that are required for a robust biomedical, behavioral, social and clinical research enterprise. Collaborations with non-academic partners are encouraged to ensure that experts from a broad spectrum of research and research-related careers contribute to coursework, rotations, internships or other forms of exposure. This program will establish a new paradigm for graduate and postdoctoral training; awardee institutions will work together to define needs and share best practices.

The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the capacity of surveillance programs to implement or enhance a population-based, multiple-source surveillance program for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DDs) that co-occur with ASD (cerebral palsy (CP) and intellectual disability (ID)). The project will fund sites to participate in the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network and will enhance surveillance activities at both prior and newly participating sites through two funding components. Component A funds surveillance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other DDs (i.e. CP and ID) among 8-year-olds. Component B funds surveillance of ASD among 4-year-olds. Component A is required for all applicants, while applying for Component B funding is optional. In this FOA, five project period short-term outcomes will be achieved through five strategies and their corresponding activities. The five expected outcomes include: improved understanding of ASD & other DDs, including trends and disparities in ASD prevalence over time; improved understanding of the implications of the change from DSM-IV TR to DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for ASD; stronger relationships with partners and data sources; increased dissemination of ADDM data; improved reliability and efficiency of ADDM surveillance.

The Mentored Clinical Research Award (MCRA) for new investigators is funded by a grant from the Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) to the Parkinson Study Group (PSG). The PDF collaborates with the PSG to encourage the professional and scientific development of young investigators on their path to independence. To this end, this grant supports a new investigator for a one year project in patient oriented research in Parkinson's disease (PD) or other parkinsonian disorders. The new investigator works under the mentorship of an experienced investigator. Training should enhance the junior clinical research skills. The research plan should address unmet needs of people living with PD, have the potential for broad application among the PD community, and lead to advances in clinically relevant treatment options.

ADPKD affects ~500,000 patients in US and ~10 million world-wide with limited treatment options. ADPKD patients develop progressive cyst growth in kidney over decade, eventually leading to deterioration of kidney function combined with severe pain, hematuria and fibrosis/inflammation. Two mutations (Pkd1/pkd2) account for >95% of ADPKD cases, and the dominant nature and high penetration rate of this disease affects patient families in a profoundly negative way in both health care and social interactions. There is currently no FDA approved medicine for ADPKD in US, although vasopressin antagonist and somatostatin mimetics are in phase 3 studies. GSK aims to deliver innovative medicine to treat ADPKD based on novel mechanism of action. We are particularly interested in agents or targets that function upstream of final cellular proliferative response and have solid genetic/pharmacological evidence supporting the role of such target/agents in human ADPKD. We are also interested in mechanisms/targets that can treat both liver and kidney cyst progression. We are open to form a partnership or alliance with perspective investigators/sponsors to pursue such new target/agents upon review and approval.

ACL intends to compete these 10 grants via two options (both with 36-month grant periods): (A) Sustainable Systems Grants: approximately six grants of $500,000 to $900,000 focused on developing integrated, sustainable systems for delivering evidence-based chronic disease self-management education and self-management support programs. (B) Capacity-Building Grants: approximately four grants of $50,000 to $150,000 to build capacity to introduce and deliver evidence-based chronic disease self-management education and self-management support programs within underserved areas and/or populations.

The Administration on Aging (AoA) within the Administration for Community Living (ACL), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) forecasts the possible availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 funds to make three-year grants to approximately 10 entities to develop capacity, bring to scale, and sustain evidence-based falls prevention programs that will help to reduce the number of falls, fear of falling, and/or fall-related injuries in older adults. ACL aims to compete these 10 grants via two options (both with 36-month grant periods): (A) Sustainable Systems Grants: approximately six grants of $400,000 to $600,00 focused on developing integrated, sustainable systems for delivering falls prevention programs; (B) Capacity-Building Grants: approximately four grants of $50,000 to $150,000 to build capacity to introduce and deliver falls prevention programs within underserved areas and/or populations.
