The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), through the Fertility and Infertility (FI) and the Gynecological, Health and Disease (GHD) Branches, provides funding for a limited number of research centers in the reproductive and gynecological sciences. For the purpose of this FOA, reproductive health includes both fertility/infertility and gynecological health. These centers provide an arena for multidisciplinary interactions among basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality translational research programs in these scientific areas. The centers also serve as national resources for the training and career development of junior scientists electing to pursue biomedical research careers in reproductive health. Finally, center investigators develop and participate in community outreach and education efforts to increase awareness and convey the importance and implications of their research activities to the general public. The purpose of this FOA is to announce the re-competition of the National Centers for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility (NCTRI). The NCTRI will be administered through the Specialized Research Center (P50) award mechanism. These centers will form a national network that facilitates and accelerates bidirectional knowledge transfer between the laboratory and clinic with the ultimate goal of improving human reproductive and gynecological health through research excellence and innovation.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to encourage research grant applications that propose to develop or substantially modify existing cutting-edge tools that will advance prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research. The primary objective of this FOA is to remove barriers to hydrocephalus research that are due to scarcity of tools to investigate both the disease mechanisms and alternative therapies (non-shunt) in a rigorous manner. Applications should aim to transform the field of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research by generating tools including animal and cell models, novel methods and innovative technologies that will be widely used throughout the neuroscience community to understand disease mechanisms and/or developing therapeutics.

The purpose of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW)'s Research and Evaluation (R&E) Initiative is to research and evaluate approaches to combating domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. By generating more knowledge about strategies for serving victims and holding offenders accountable, communities that benefit from Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) funding will be better equipped to align their work with practices that are known to be effective, and they will be more capable of generating empirical knowledge on the efficacy of new and promising ways of doing things. R&E is designed to support researcher-practitioner partnerships and a broad range of research and evaluation methods, including qualitative, mixed-method, and quasi-experimental designs.

Priority Region: Proposals must be implemented in Lebanon, with priority given to projects implemented partially or entirely in underserved areas. Program Objectives: U.S. Embassy Beirut seeks proposals that promote English language education through youth engagement, women empowerment, community service, Science Technology English Math (STEM), English for Specific Purposes (ESP) or other relevant activities. Key Guidelines: - Applicants can apply as individuals or as groups (for example, a group of alumni), organizations, or as non-profit organizations. - All applicants should be Lebanon-based. - For alumni proposals, partnerships with existing, active alumni organizations are encouraged. - Successful projects should identify and work with appropriate partner institutions. Partner institutions can be engaged to provide expertise as well as cost-share activities. Cost-sharing (financial and/or in kind) is encouraged for a competitive grant. - Each project will evaluated based on its potential sustainability, meaning its ability to reach different audiences and goals during and beyond the grant cycle; projects that demonstrate sustainability will be given preference.

The National Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention Training and Technical Assistance Resource Center (NDVHP TARC) will provide customized and intensive training and technical assistance to jurisdictions interested in implementing a domestic violence homicide prevention (DVHP) intervention. This project may develop and/or enhance a community assessment tool that will be used to assess a jurisdiction's capacity to implement a DVHP intervention, maintain a resource center about existing and new DVHP interventions, and provide training, technical assistance, and resources for each of the professions, to include law enforcement, domestic violence victim service providers, prosecutors, judges and other court staff, involved in implementing a DVHP intervention.

Global instability and violent extremism threaten U.S. and global security. The U.S. WPS Act of 2017, further expanded upon by the U.S. Strategy on WPS, have identified women's leadership and participation as crucial to sustainable peace and security. Promoting women's meaningful inclusion and participation across efforts to prevent conflict and build peace is not simply a women's issue; it is a national security issue and vital for human progress. Though women provide essential contributions to lasting solutions to conflict, terrorism, and crisis, their perspectives and leadership are often absent from places where decisions are made about their countries' and communities' future. In addition, violence against women and girls remain pervasive before, during, and after conflicts - which prolongs conflict and inhibits the meaningful participation of women in political and security processes. A growing body of evidence demonstrates that women are partners we cannot afford to ignore, as their participation leads to better outcomes not only for women, but also for entire societies.

American Journalism: A Journal of Media History announces a call for proposals for a special issue to be published in April 2019 to commemorate the adoption of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that granted the women of all states the right to vote. We seek original historical research on the role of media in and about the suffrage movement, work that illuminates lasting cultural, political, economic, ideological, and social problems. Research could center on movement, mainstream, ethnic or alternative media; strategic communication, visual culture, or closely related themes.

The State Farm Companies Foundation values inclusiveness and diversity. The purpose of this FOA is to stimulate research on interventions to reduce HIV/AIDS-associated stigma and its impact on the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS and on the quality of life of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWH). Specifically, this initiative will support research on a) novel stigma reduction interventions that link to increase in care-seeking behavior and/or decrease in transmission; b) reducing the impact of stigma on adolescent and/or youth health; c) strategies to cope with the complex burden of stigmatization due to HIV and one or more comorbidities/coinfections; d) reducing effects of stigma on and/or by family members or caregivers of PLWH; and e) innovative and improved stigma measurement in the context of implementation of an intervention. The overall goals are to understand how to reduce stigma as a factor in HIV transmission, to eliminate or mitigate the aspects of stigma that limit beneficial health outcomes for the infected and at-risk individuals and communities, and to initiate exploratory studies to determine the feasibility of stigma interventions related to HIV prevention, treatment and/or care in Low and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage applications from the scientific community to support outstanding research in the area of puberty and the trajectory of sexual development. New technologies and approaches are needed to fill knowledge gaps and advance understanding of normative sexual development in both males and females. It is anticipated that the findings of studies supported by this FOA will advance knowledge of puberty and the establishment of reproductive competence

The DePaul University Humanities Center (DHC) is inviting applications for Visiting Fellows for 2020-2021. All applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent, and research projects must be in the humanities. International applications will be considered. Fellowships may run for nine months (from September 2020 to June 2021) or six months (from January 2021 to June 2021). During their tenure, Visiting Fellows are required to make an intellectual contribution to the DePaul community and participate in the programming and activities of the DHC and the university. We are especially interested in applications that involve a project around the theme of "Age," broadly construed. All applications regardless of topic will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants who draw connections between their proposed project and the 2020-21 DHC theme, "Age." NB: The DHC will be hosting events that touch on such topics as the analog age and the era of cassette tapes; child liberation; birth & infancy; the juvenile justice system; the gendering of age; childhood, games, and gaming; and sexuality and privacy in the golden years. Ultimately, we are interested in interdisciplinary, creative, innovative projects that take up the theme of "Age."

The Oberlin College Archives established the Frederick B. Artz Summer Research Grants Program in 1990. This research program, which is made possible by a grant from the Oberlin Historical and Improvement Organization, is intended to encourage and facilitate the publication of scholarly, humanistic studies based on archival and special collections sources at Oberlin College, with special emphasis on the history of the institution, Oberlin Community and liberal arts education. Studies of a local nature involving the resources of both archival and special collections departments are especially encouraged.

Through this special call for proposals (CFP), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Evidence for Action (E4A) program and Global Ideas for U.S. Solutions team seek to learn from programs, policies, and practices that are advancing gender equity around the world to understand how they can be adapted to improve health and well-being in the United States, and build a national Culture of Health.

The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports career development for promising early-career researchers. The program funds five-year research and mentoring plans that significantly expand researchers' expertise in new disciplines, methods, and content areas. Applicants should have a track record of conducting high-quality research and an interest in pursuing a significant shift in their trajectories as researchers. We recognize that early-career researchers are rarely given incentives or support to take measured risks in their work, so this award includes a mentoring component, as well as a supportive academic community. Awards are based on applicants' potential to become influential researchers, as well as their plans to expand their expertise in new and significant ways. The application should make a cohesive argument for how the applicant will expand his or her expertise. The research plan should evolve in conjunction with the development of new expertise, and the mentoring plan should describe how the proposed mentors will support applicants in acquiring that expertise. Proposed research plans must address questions that are relevant to policy and practice in the Foundation's focus areas.

The Nathan Cummings Foundation (NCF) Fellowship awards three individuals with up to $150,000 to turn an inspired idea in the field of social justice into a reality. The program is designed for emergent leaders who have limited access to institutional philanthropy and whose work is traditionally underfunded. NCF welcomes a diverse pool of applicants representing practitioners in a variety of fields. Applicants should demonstrate a deep understanding and clear analysis of the field in which they work. They should also have a history of success in this field but still be positioned to benefit from the Foundation' support. The topic of a Fellow's project should generally align with the Foundation's focus on climate change and inequality. It should aim to transform the systems and mindsets that hinder progress toward a more sustainable and equitable future for all people, particularly women and people of color. The Foundation is also interested in innovative approaches that cut across these areas. Applicants should have a clear idea of the project's goal(s), audience, and impact on community. They should also demonstrate an understanding of the timeline and resources needed to execute their work. Proposed projects might include the creation of a product such as a book or report; a public hearing or presentation; a launch of an initiative or nonprofit organization; an art piece; or other creative work products.

"The Public Humanities Projects program supports projects that bring the ideas and insights of the humanities to life for general audiences through in-person programming.  Projects must engage humanities scholarship to analyze significant themes in disciplines such as history, literature, ethics, and art history. Public Humanities Projects supports projects in three program categories (Exhibitions, Historic Places, and Humanities Discussions), and at two funding levels (Planning and Implementation). Regardless of proposed activity, NEH encourages applicants to explore humanities ideas through multiple formats.  Proposed projects may include complementary components: for example, a museum exhibition might be accompanied by a website or mobile app. Small and mid-sized organizations are especially encouraged to apply.  We likewise welcome humanities projects tailored to particular groups, such as families, youth (including K-12 students in informal educational settings), underserved communities, and veterans. Applicants are advised to consider developing partnerships with other institutions, particularly organizations such as cultural alliances, broadcast media stations, cultural heritage centers, state humanities councils, veterans' centers, and libraries."

The goal of this funding opportunity is to translate and adapt knowledge from around the world to the United States on approaches that can improve health or the determinants of health by improving gender equity. In the United States, determinants of health relate to personal safety, economic opportunity, education access (post-secondary or beyond), supportive workplace and social environments, and protection from bias and discrimination for vulnerable groups. Specifically, we seek to learn from initiatives underway outside the United States whose effectiveness is supported or suggested by empirical evidence and that have the potential to be adapted and implemented in the United States. Some examples of approaches of interest are those that aim to: - Achieve pay equity; - Provide supports in the workplace or other social environments for pregnant women, parents and families; - Counteract cultural stereotypes or expectations that bias women and girls toward low-wage careers or health-damaging jobs or roles; - Address norms, practices, and resources in ways that reduce gender-based violence, aggression, or harassment; - Modify social expectations that promote risky behaviors or contribute to poor mental health; - Build on frameworks about gender, power, and health from groups around the world who have unique traditions and practices related to gender norms and roles; - Create opportunities for gender minorities to make decisions that affect their lives and communities, and to emerge as leaders in government and other positions of influence; or - Apply nonbinary interpretations of gender in policymaking, resource allocation, or service provision.
