The “Partner Actions to Improve Oral Health” program is a five-year competitive renewal to continue CDC investment in and support of oral health promotion and disease prevention programs. The purpose is to build the strength and effectiveness of state oral health programs recipients to prevent and control oral diseases and related conditions. Under component 1, recipient will work with all NOFO DP18-1810 funded programs to provide technical assistance, training, and capacity building resources for: 1) the Basic Screening Survey, 2) evidence-based oral health strategies (i.e., school sealant programs and community water fluoridation) and infection prevention and control practices, 3) oral health surveillance, 4) evaluation of oral health programs, and 5) reports on the oral health program capacity for all 50 states (CDC-funded and non-funded states). Under component 2, recipient will work with six programs selected NOFO DP18-1810 to integrate oral health with other chronic disease programs (i.e., medical/dental integration). Recipient will provide technical assistance for medical/dental integration programs, and compile examples of effective medical/dental integration programs and strategies. The proposed program will replace and build upon FOA 13-1313 [FY2013-FY2018]. Successful implementation and execution of the NOFO strategies will result in decreases in dental caries, oral health disparities, and co-morbid chronic diseases.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for basic and translational research on caregiving for individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD), at the individual, family, community, and population level. The scope of this funding opportunity includes support for applications that propose the following: interventions to reduce caregiver burden and improve patient outcomes across various settings; population- and community-based research on the scope and impact of AD caregiving; improved characterization of informal and formal caregiving and the burden of caregiving across the full spectrum of the disease, including differences among socioeconomic, racial/ethnic and geographic sub-populations; and research addressing the unique challenges related to the provision of advanced AD care, including disparities in access to care.

This Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) is intended to promote behavioral and social research on the dementia care workforce and the impact on outcomes for persons living with Alzheimer's disease or Alzheimer's disease-related dementia (AD/ADRD) and their families. Broad areas of interest include (1) how economic and policy factors drive the composition and quality of the dementia care workforce; (2) demographic and familial factors that influence demand for and supply of dementia care workers; (3) training and certification effects on quality and retention of dementia care workers; and (4) the development of data resources required to study these issues.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) is to strengthen district, state and national public health systems in India to sustain and continue advancement of Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) priorities to prevent, detect, and respond to disease threats across the country. This NOFO will help augment and transition GHSA assisted activities increasingly to Government of India (GoI) including, but not limited to the following Ministry of Family Health and Welfare (MoHFW) institutions: National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); National Health Mission (NHM); and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). Other key institutions include the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAD); the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA); and the All Indian Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS). This NOFO will focus on supporting logistical and technical requirements in five core public health capacities among these GoI institutions: antimicrobial resistance (AMR); workforce development capacity; surveillance and outbreak response; safe laboratory systems and diagnostics; public health emergency response capacity. The Lesbian Health Fund (LHF), a program of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality, was established in 1992 to define, study, and educate lesbians and their health care providers about lesbian health issues. LHF's mission is to improve the health of lesbians, other sexual minority women (SMW) and their families through research. Research areas include: Understanding social, family, and interpersonal influences as sources of stress or support Eliminating inequalities in health care, including barriers to care, and improving quality of care and utilization rates Development and testing of interventions to address mental and physical health needs of lesbians and other SMW, including but not limited to depression, identity related issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, obesity, cancer risks, cardiovascular disease and sexually transmitted infections Sexual and reproductive health, including family & parenting issues The deadlines for receipt of applications are May 15 and October 15.

The Reeve Foundation awards Quality of Life grants up to $25,000 to organizations that provide services to individuals with paralysis. Applications are welcome from nonprofit organizations with IRS 501(c)(3) status, municipal and state governments, school districts, recognized tribal entities and other institutions such as community or veterans hospitals. Grants are awarded to organizations that address the needs of people living with paralysis caused by spinal cord and other injuries, diseases or birth conditions, including (but not limited to) stroke, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The Brookdale Foundation Group works to advance the fields of geriatrics and gerontology and to improve the lives of senior citizens. The Brookdale National Group Respite Program awards seed grants to service providers that plan to offer new, dementia-specific Group Respite or specialized Early Memory Loss (EML) programming to participants, along with support to caregivers, in order to help individuals remain in their communities. All funded programs must provide a day program for people affected by Alzheimer's disease or other dementia, which is limited to those who are cognitively impaired. Grants of $10,000 will be provided in year one, renewable for $5,000 for the second year, based on evaluation of first year's activities and potential for future continuity of the program. The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support hypothesis-driven research of prenatal and pediatric hydrocephalus. This FOA intends to support hydrocephalus research projects that examine the developmental etiology (intrinsic factors including genetics) and acquired etiology (extrinsic factors including hemorrhage and infection) of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus. Studies should focus on understanding the molecular, cellular and developmental mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus.

The Runaway and Homeless Youth Program's Basic Center Program (BCP) provides temporary shelter and counseling services to youth who have left home without permission of their parents or guardians, have been forced to leave home, or other homeless youth who might otherwise end up in the law enforcement or in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems. BCPs work to establish or strengthen community-based programs that meet the immediate needs of runaway and homeless youth and their families. BCPs provide youth under 18 years of age with emergency shelter, food, clothing, counseling and referrals for health care. BCPs can provide up to 21 days of shelter for youth and seeks to reunite young people with their families, whenever possible, or to locate appropriate alternative placements. Additional services may include: street-based services; home-based services for families with youth at risk of separation from the family; drug abuse education and prevention services; and at the request of runaway and homeless youth, testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

This notice solicits applications for the R40 Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Field-Initiated Innovative Research Studies (FIRST) Program. The purpose of the MCH FIRST Program grant is to advance the health and wellbeing of MCH populations by supporting innovative, applied, and translational intervention[1] research studies on critical issues affecting MCH populations. [1] For the purpose of this NOFO, an "intervention" is defined to include behavioral, social, or structural / health systems approaches, as well as combination applied clinico-medical and behavioral, social, or structural / health system approaches that contribute to the prevention of diseases or improvement of health (including clinical) outcomes for mothers, children and families at a population level.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to foster research on the unique perspectives, needs, wishes, and decision-making processes of adolescents and young adults (AYA; defined by the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as youth between 12 24 years of age) with serious, advanced illnesses; and research focused on specific end-of-life/palliative care (EOLPC) models that support the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs of AYA with serious illness, their families and caregivers.

The intent of the research funded through this award is to (1) support research to alleviate, stabilize, or characterize the symptoms or deficits common to TBI and AD/ADRD, and (2) reduce the burden of care on the caregiver for individuals living with the common symptoms of TBI and AD/ADRD. Research may be proposed to either facet of the intent. Both are equally important. As part of the research strategy, all applications must include cognitive, neuropsychological, or otherwise appropriate measures.The FY17 PRARP QUAL is open to Principal Investigators (PIs) at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) from any field or discipline. As part of the application, the PI should demonstrate that the study team has experience in both TBI and AD/ADRD research. Preliminary data, while not required, are encouraged. Preliminary data may come from the PI's published work, pilot data, or from peer-reviewed literature. Applications should also address how all of the included study measures address the research strategy and the study's hypothesis or hypotheses.The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY17 PRARP QUAL will not exceed $500,000.
