NSF Proposal Preparation Webinars - 0 views

    The NSF Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) in collaboration with AAAS will offer an Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Education and Human Resources (IUSE: EHR) webinar focusing on opportunities for funding in the IUSE: EHR program, specifically associated with the Institutional and Community Transformation (ICT) track of the IUSE program. An audio archive and slides will be posted after the webinar at https://aaas-iuse.org. The IUSE: EHR program "seeks to promote novel, creative, and transformative approaches to generating and using new knowledge about STEM teaching and learning to improve STEM education for all undergraduates." The program supports proposals interested in improving undergraduate education, developing faculty expertise, preparing K-12 teachers, and providing all undergraduate students with STEM competencies and a basic understanding of STEM concepts and principles. All projects must contribute to the body of knowledge about what works in undergraduate STEM education and the conditions that lead to improved STEM teaching and learning. The ICT track seeks to fund innovative work on systemic change that may be measured at the departmental, institutional, or multi-institutional level, or across communities of STEM educators and/or educational researchers. ICT projects are expected to include one or more theories of change to guide the proposed work and this webinar will provide information about expectations for Identifying and incorporating these theories of change.

Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Technologies Research, Development, and Demonstrations - 0 views

    The purposes of this amendment are to: 1. Revise Section VIII.B., Informational Webinar to indicate a time of 11:00am-12:00pm ET on 3/10/2015; and 2. Revise Table E2: Catalyst Support Cycle & Metrics under Appendix E. The Fuel Cell Technologies Office (FCTO) is a key component of the Department of Energy?s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) portfolio. The FCTO aims to provide clean, safe, secure, affordable, and reliable energy from diverse domestic resources, providing the benefits of increased energy security and reduced criteria pollutants and green-house gas emissions by adopting a technology?neutral approach toward applied research, develoment, and demonstration to address both key technical challenges for fuel cells and hydrogen fuels (i.e. hydrogen production, delivery and storage) and institutional barriers such as hydrogen codes and standards. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) covers a broad spectrum of the FCTO portfolio with areas of interest ranging from research and development (R&D) to demonstration and deployment projects. In particular, the R&D areas of interest for this FOA include hydrogen production via microbial biomass conversion; low pla tinum group metals (PGM) catalyst development for polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell applications; development of an integrated intelligent hydrogen dispenser; and fuel cell and hydrogen manufacturing R&D focusing on hydrogen delivery pipeline manufacturing R&D. This FOA also includes demonstration subtopics that will help to accelerate adoption of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies with specific interest in mobile hydrogen refuelers, fuel cell powered range extenders for light-duty hybrid electric vehicles, and a Communities of Excellence subtopic featuring hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. Mid-Scale Research Infrastructure-1 Program Webinar | NSF - National Science Foundation - 0 views

On Wednesday, November 4, 2020 and Thursday, November 5, 2020, NSF will host outreach webinars with information about the Mid-Scale Research Infrastructure (Mid-scale RI)-1 funding opportunity (NSF 21-505). The Mid-scale RI Big Idea is intended to provides an agile, Foundation-wide process to fund experimental research capabilities in the mid-scale range ($6 million to $100 million), between the Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) and Major Facilities thresholds.  Recently, the solicitation (NSF 21-505) for the Mid-scale RI-1 program (for infrastructure with total project cost of $6 million up until, but not including, $20 million) was published with a deadline of January 7, 2021 for preliminary proposals. Each session will begin at 1:00 p.m. EST and have two parts: a general Mid-scale RI-1 information session (1:00 p.m. -1:40 p.m. EST) with Q&A followed by Directorate-specific breakouts (1:45 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. EST) where more technical questions will be addressed. The information presented on Day 1 will be the same as the information presented on Day 2.

U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center: Energy and Water - 0 views

    The purpose of this modification is to publish questions and responses regarding the FOA and to provide a link to the Webinar download. The questions and responses can be found in Attachment 002. A copy of the March 18, 2015 webinar and its slides can be downloaded from the CERC website: http://www.us-china-cerc.org/Energy_Water.html The Department of Energy is soliciting applications for the formation of a Consortium to pursue five identified R&D topics at the nexus of energy and water. These topics are: 1) water use reduction at thermoelectric plants; 2) treatment and management of non-traditional waters; 3) improving sustainable hydropower design and operation; 4) climate impact modeling, methods, and scenarios to support improved energy and water systems understanding; and 5) data and analysis to inform planning, policy, and other decisions. Each responsive proposal will address all five topics; DOE is offering a mechanism to facilitate partnering during the Application process. The Consortium that is funded through this solicitation will form a new technical track under the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center, which is a bilateral initiative to encourage R&D collaboration and accelerate technology development and deployment in both countries (see: http://www.us-china-cerc.org). This DOE funding opport unity will support the U.S. Consortium. In parallel, and with equivalent resources, Chinese funding will support a counterpart Chinese Consortium.

Fiscal Year 2018 Chesapeake Bay Fisheries Research Program - 0 views

    The NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office (NCBO) provides technical assistance in (1) identifying science-based management options for restoration and protection of living resources and their habitats; (2) monitoring and assessing the status of living resources and their habitats; and, (3) evaluating the effectiveness of management plan implementation. For FY 2018, it is anticipated that up to approximately $500,000 could be made available for projects that address funding priorities identified in the Program Priority Section (I.B.) NCBO encourages projects that are collaborative, interdisciplinary, and will leverage other resources. Preference will be given to projects with clear management application.     The National Science Foundation (NSF) seeks to develop and nurture a national innovation ecosystem that builds upon fundamental research to guide the output to facilitate the application of scientific discoveries closer to the development of technologies, products and processes that benefit society. In order to maintain, strengthen and grow a national innovation ecosystem, NSF has established the Innovation Corps - National Innovation Network Teams Program (I-Corps Teams). The NSF I-Corps Teams Program purpose is to identify NSF-funded researchers who will receive additional support in the form of entrepreneurial education, mentoring and funding to accelerate innovation that can attract subsequent third-party funding. The purpose of the I-Corps Teams program is to identify NSF-funded researchers who will receive additional support in the form of entrepreneurial education, mentoring and funding to accelerate the translation of knowledge derived from fundamental research into emerging products and services that can attract subsequent third-party funding. The outcomes of I-Corps Teams projects will be threefold: 1) a clear go/no go decision based on an assessment of the viability of the overall business model, 2) substantial first-hand evidence for or against product-market fit, with a pithy definition of the customer segments and corresponding value propositions, and 3) a narrative of a compelling technology demonstration for potential partners. Building America Industry Partnerships for High Performance Housing Innovation - 0 views

    The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), invests in high-risk, high-value research, development and deployment in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. EERE, through the Building Technologies Office (BTO) is issuing a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) DE-FOA-0001117, entitled ?Building America Industry Partnerships for High Performance Housing Innovations?. The FOA seeks to develop technologies, techniques, and tools for making buildings more energy efficient, productive, and affordable. BTO's strategic goal is to significantly improve the energy efficiency of new and existing buildings to reduce national energy demand and allow the nation to work toward greater energy independence and a cleaner environment. With this FOA, EERE anticipates selecting and funding 1 to 4 building science teams in 2015 for the Building America Research Program. Selected teams will conduct applied Research and Development (R&D) in real world houses, develop and implement solutions to three inter-related core technical challenges which are necessary to meet the program goals for both new and existing homes. 21st Century Service Corps - Hispanic Access Foundation Task Order 1 - 0 views

    Selected recipients have a demonstrated interest and the capacity to work cooperatively with the USFWS to develop and administer projects focused on providing employment, educational, and public-service opportunities for U.S. citizens, legal residents, and veterans between 18 and 35 years. Projects are developed based on needs identified by USFWS offices at the national, regional and local levels that will lead to the development of project scopes of work in consultation with the youth-serving organizations selected as program partners under Notice of Funding Opportunity F16AS00108. Funds under this award are to be used to place a Digital Media Ranger Intern and an Urban Wildlife Conservation Program Intern at FWS Headquarters, NWRS Visitor Services. An Urban Wildlife Conservation Program Intern (Intern) will be physically located at FWS Headquarters (40 hours per week for 52 weeks). The Intern will provide research assistance and gather recommendations on potential and existing partnerships. The Intern will travel to one or two urban wildlife refuges to work alongside field staff and partners directly connecting with communities. The Intern will provide technical assistance on websites, webinars and other media. A Digital Media Ranger (DMR Intern) Intern will be physically located at FWS headquarters (40 hours per week for 52 weeks. The DMR Intern will plan, create and deliver social media and youth engagement campaigns on multiple platforms; coordinate with other digital media rangers on collecting, cataloging the media produced on our over 560 wildlife refuges, and the DMR Intern will participate in migrating media to a new digital asset management system. The DMR Intern will travel to one or more national wildlife refuges to work alongside other digital media rangers, or assist with projects.
