The NOAA Office of National Marine Sanctuaries is seeking proposals under the Great Lakes Bay Watershed Education and Training Program (B-WET). The Great Lakes B-WET Program is a competitive grant program that supports existing, high quality environmental education programs, fosters the growth of new, innovative programs, and encourages capacity building and partnership development for environmental education programs throughout the entire Great Lakes watershed. Successful projects provide Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) for students and related professional development for teachers, while advancing regional Great Lakes education priorities. The Great Lakes B-WET program is funded through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative. It is anticipated that approximately $800,000 may be available in FY 2020 to fund eligible applications. NOAA anticipates making approximately 12 to 17 new awards. The total Federal amount that may be requested from NOAA should not exceed $80,000. The minimum Federal amount that should be requested from NOAA is $30,000. Applications requesting Federal support from NOAA for more than $80,000 or less than $30,000 may not be considered for funding.

NIFA requests applications for the Food and Agriculture Education Information System (FAEIS) for fiscal year (FY) 2018 to maintain a national food and agricultural education information system that contains information on enrollment, degrees awarded, faculty, employment placement, and other similar information in the food and agricultural sciences. The Food and Agriculture Education Information System (FAEIS) is a comprehensive database that gathers information, on a voluntary basis, from degree granting institutions of higher education on student enrollment in Food, Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Human Sciences (FANH) sciences, degrees awarded, and graduate placement at all degree levels and by gender, race, and other relevant categories. In addition, data is collected on faculty salaries by rank and discipline.

Raise awareness and understanding of science and technology and their potential to address a global challenge. Request for Proposals: For 2018, the IEEE Foundation Grants Program will invest approximately $304,000 to raise awareness and understanding of science and technology and their potential to address a global challenge. Proposals are invited from IEEE Organizational Units for projects that promote public understanding about how science and technology are being or could be used to address global challenges - including energy, cybersecurity, security, health care, and sustainability. In evaluating proposals, the Grants Committee will seek to determine the extent to which the proposed project: Provides technical information at a level that can be understood by the general public Reaches a broad cross-section of society Has a well-articulated communications plan, that includes social media, designed to increase awareness and engagement of the target audience Presents, in a neutral and balanced manner, an analysis of the social benefits and costs of deploying the subject technology Avoids advocating a particular action but encourages and enables participants to make an informed decision Directly involves IEEE members including, as appropriate, student members Encourages the active participation of the target audience Provides an effective means of determining the impact of the project Matches the IEEE Foundation's Grant criteria

The English Speaking Union of the United States each year sponsors a travel grant for study or research providing a stipend of up to $2,000. he goal of this project is to address conservation needs to prepare museum collections for public exhibit and access for research, through providing an educational work experience opportunities for undergraduate and post graduate students interested in Art and Artifact Conservation. B. Project Objectives Include: â¿¢ Pack and transport museum collections to the conservation lab â¿¢ Treat over 750 objects in preparation for exhibits in parks â¿¢ Survey approximately 3,000 items to document stability and report on conservation needs â¿¢ Design and build storage and exhibit supports for 1,720 items â¿¢ Develop training materials and implement workshop for park staff â¿¢ Conduct research to improve conservation treatment methods for paleontology collections

Through the program, grants of up to $25,000 (grades 6 through 12) or $50,000 (colleges and universities) will be awarded to projects that reach at least a hundred students and that are aligned with Constellation's Energy to Educate Innovation Themes. Themes identified by the company that are eligible for support include: Smart Home - How will new technologies and artificial intelligence transform home energy usage in the future? More and more, homes are generating their own electricity and interactive technology is becoming a part of our daily lives. Sample topics include onsite generation, smart home energy tech, voice and gesture interfaces, and home energy data. Electrification - What will the future of transportation look like? New technologies are poised to power us into a cleaner energy future. Sample topics include electric vehicles, electric buses, electric charging infrastructure, and fuel conversions. Clean Energy & Zero Waste - How do we understand which energy sources and choices will have the greatest impact on our collective and individual carbon footprint? What if we could harness and store energy that would otherwise be wasted? Sample topics include low-carbon energy, clean energy sources, waste to energy, biomass, energy storage, and fuel cells.

Through the Collaborative Science, Technology, and Applied Research (CSTAR) Program, the NWS Office of Science and Technology Integration is soliciting proposals to conduct research and development activities. NOAA/NWS believes its warning and forecast mission will benefit significantly from a strong partnership with outside investigators in the broad academic community. The CSTAR Program represents a NWS effort to create a cost-effective transition from basic and applied research to operations and services through collaborative research between operational forecasters and academic institutions which have expertise in the environmental sciences. These activities will engage university researchers and students in applied research of interest to the operational meteorological community for the provision of improving the accuracy of forecasts and warnings of environmental hazards. This announcement is for research and development topics identified as priorities by the NWS to support field forecasting operations. There is one grant competition under this announcement valued at approximately $600,000 for three to five new projects

The increasing shortage of affordable housing creates a multitude of economic issues, including the inability of households and individuals to establish financial stability and plan for the future. As housing costs consume a growing share of income, it forces decisions that make it virtually impossible to build credit and pay off student debt. To help address those issues, the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, is seeking solutions to expanding the stock of affordable rental units and plans to award grants totaling $3.75 million to thirty local housing nonprofit organizations to refurbish existing housing stock and create safe, healthy, and affordable rental units for families, individuals, the elderly, new Americans, veterans, the disabled, women, and youth.

It is NASA's intent to update these foci and compete this element on an annual basis to best address scientific and programmatic priorities: 1. High-End Computing for ESI: Research advancing the use of High-End Computing (HEC) resources to answer specific questions in solid-Earth science. This subsection welcomes proposals addressing observational network design and augmentation, automated processing of large datasets, and advanced analysis and simulation. Proposals that demonstrate a clear need and robust plan for use of NASA HEC resources are especially encouraged. 2. Geomagnetic Research: Research that utilizes remotely sensed geomagnetic observations to further advance our understanding of the solid Earth. 3. Strengthening ESI Community Knowledge and Skills: New ESI-relevant activities that strengthen knowledge and skills of graduate students and/or postdoctoral researchers and broaden community awareness of the ESI mission. Prospective proposers are encouraged to contact the program point of contact to discuss the relevance of their proposal.

The USGS is offering a funding opportunity to a CESU partner for research in Alaskan carbon dioxide and methane stock and flux rates within aquatic ecosystems. This funding will support a graduate student and other resources and materials needed to verify biogeochemistry models, simulate land and aquatic ecosystem changes, and develop research methods, and conduct regional simulations of greenhouse gas emissions. Research Objectives: 1) In the context of the onset of dynamic changes in land and freshwater aquatic ecosystems areas, structures, and functions, how the CO2 and CH4 budgets of Alaskan freshwater ecosystems could change and what may be the primary drivers of the changes? 2) How would the potential change in CO2 and CH4 budgets relate to surface hydrology such as increased wetness and types of the wetlands and water bodies (such as thermokarst lakes).

The NOAA Marine Debris Program, authorized in the Marine Debris Act (33 U.S.C. 1951-1958), provides funding to prevent the introduction of marine debris into the marine and coastal environment. Projects awarded through this grant competition will encourage changes in behavior of a target audience (such as students, teachers, industries, or the public) to address a specific marine debris issue, and will actively engage these groups in hands-on personal participation. Successful proposals through this solicitation will be funded through cooperative agreements. Funding of up to $1,500,000 is expected to be available for Marine Debris Prevention grants in FY2018. Typical awards will range from $50,000 - $150,000. Funding for this purpose comes through the NOAA Marine Debris Program as appropriations to the Office of Response and Restoration, National Ocean Service.This solicitation is focused on efforts to prevent marine debris from entering the environment through targeted behavior change. It is not intended for large-scale debris removal projects, deployment of catchment basins, or scientific research.

The Fellowship Program expects to award at least three new Ph.D. Fellowships in 2018 to students who are interested in careers related to marine ecosystem and population dynamics, with a focus on modeling and managing systems of living marine resources. The emphasis will be on the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing marine ecosystems, for assessing the status of fish, invertebrate, and other targeted species stocks and for assessing the status of marine mammals, seabirds, and other protected species. Fellows will work on thesis problems of public interest and relevance to National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) under the guidance of NMFS mentors at participating NMFS Science Centers or Offices. The NMFS-Sea Grant Fellowship in Population and Ecosystem Dynamics meets NOAA's Healthy Oceans goal of "Marine fisheries, habitats, biodiversity sustained with healthy and productive ecosystems".

Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

The National Science Foundation awards Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants in selected areas of the biological sciences. Proposals must fall within the scope of any of the clusters in the Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) or the Behavioral Systems Cluster in the Division of Integrative Organismal Systems (IOS). These grants provide partial support of doctoral dissertation research for improvement beyond the already existing project. Allowed are costs for doctoral candidates to participate in scientific meetings, to conduct research in specialized facilities or field settings, and to expand an existing body of dissertation research.

The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation seeks to further the development of scientific leadership in the field of environmental chemistry with a postdoctoral fellowship program. The Postdoctoral Program in Environmental Chemistry provides a principal investigator with an award of $120,000 over two years to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow in environmental chemistry.
