Cyber-physical systems (CPS) are engineered systems that are built from, and depend upon, the seamless integration of computational algorithms and physical components. Advances in CPS will enable capability, adaptability, scalability, resiliency, safety, security, and usability that will far exceed the simple embedded systems of today. CPS technology will transform the way people interact with engineered systems -- just as the Internet has transformed the way people interact with information. New smart CPS will drive innovation and competition in sectors such as agriculture, energy, transportation, building design and automation, healthcare, and manufacturing.

This program element solicits scientific investigations that require the accurate and extensive vector wind and backscatter measurements provided by QuikSCAT, RapidScat, COWVR, and other international scatterometers, such as ASCAT (from the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites; EUMETSAT) and OSCAT (from the Indian Space Research Organization; ISRO).

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting innovative research proposals in the area of processes and technology for assembly of systems, components, and materials at millimeter scale or larger from nanometer scale constituents. Proposed research should investigate innovative approaches that enable revolutionary advances in science, devices, or systems. Specifically excluded is research that primarily results in evolutionary improvements to the existing state of practice. See attached DARPA-BAA-14-56.

Please keep in mind that no idea is too big or too early for consideration. The goal of the Maternal Health QuickFire Challenge is to discover solutions aimed to help mothers survive and prevent adverse consequences from pregnancy and childbirth.  These potential solutions should be meet the below outlined criteria. The submitted potential solution must be either be pioneering or evidence based. Please provide data supporting the theory of change or the intervention accordingly. Submitted ideas must meet at least three of the below criteria: - Actionable - is the project achievable? - Measurable in terms of health impact - Filling a current data gap - Proven sustainability or strong rationale for a sustainable business model - Scalable

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has advanced tremendously and today promises personalized healthcare; enhanced national security; improved transportation; and more effective education, to name just a few benefits. Increased computing power, the availability of large datasets and streaming data, and algorithmic advances in machine learning (ML) have made it possible for AI development to create new sectors of the economy and revitalize industries. Continued advancement, enabled by sustained federal investment and channeled toward issues of national importance, holds the potential for further economic impact and quality-of-life improvements.

The General & Age Related Disabilities Engineering (GARDE) program supports research that will lead to the development of new technologies, devices, or software for persons with disabilities.  Research may be supported that is directed to the characterization, restoration, and/or substitution of human functional ability or cognition, or to the interaction of persons with disabilities and their environment.  Areas of particular recent interest are disability-related research in neuroscience/neuroengineering and rehabilitation robotics.  Emphasis is placed on significant advancement of fundamental engineering and scientific knowledge and not on incremental improvements.  Proposals should advance discovery or innovation beyond the frontiers of current knowledge in disability-related research.  Applicants are encouraged to contact the Program Director prior to submitting a proposal. Undergraduate Engineering Design Projects are also supported, especially those that provide prototype "custom-designed" devices or software for persons with disabilities.  The education of undergraduate engineering students is enhanced through Undergraduate Engineering Design Projects' awards supported by the GARDE program.

The Client engages in the development of technologies to enable the permeation or isolation of a target gas from the air in the plant plumbing that contain high-temperature, high-pressure steam and different gasses. The Client has to date developed high-durability polymer materials as well as ceramic and other materials with improved permeability and isolation of target gasses. As the development of relevant materials for a broad range of applications, including gas filter separators and gas barrier materials, is carried out more widely, the Client has decided to make this RFP to further accelerate the development of their research and development endeavors.

CISE's Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS) supports research and education projects that develop new knowledge in three core programs: The Cyber-Human Systems (CHS) program; The Information Integration and Informatics (III) program; and The Robust Intelligence (RI) program. Proposals in the area of computer graphics and visualization may be submitted to any of the three core programs described above. Proposers are invited to submit proposals in three project classes, which are defined as follows: Small Projects - up to $500,000 total budget with durations up to three years; Medium Projects - $500,001 to $1,200,000 total budget with durations up to four years; and Large Projects - $1,200,001 to $3,000,000 total budget with durations up to five years.

Community consultations have indicated continuing interest in the capabilities offered by a Storm Penetrating Aircraft. The 2017 "Requirements for In Situ and Remote Sensing Capabilities in Convective and Turbulent Environments (C-RITE) Community Workshop" brought together over 100 community members to discuss next generation observational technologies and evolving scientific requirements. An outcome of that meeting was the development of a set of technical and operational requirements for a potential Storm Penetrating Aircraft that could be deployed as a multi-user facility for acquiring in-situ observations of key parameters associated with the evolution of severe convective storms.

CISE's Division of Computer and Network Systems (CNS) supports research and education projects that develop new knowledge in two core programs: Computer Systems Research (CSR) program; and Networking Technology and Systems (NeTS) program.

Solicits applied research in support of HRP goals and objectives. This response area is Appendix A of the Human Exploration Research Opportunities (HERO) NRA (80JSC017N0001).
