 This funding opportunity announcement (FOA), issued by the Office of the Director (OD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), invites applications from entities/institutions in Institutional Development Award (IDeA)-eligible States to participate as the Data Coordination and Operations Center (DCOC) in the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network (ISPCTN). The DCOC will support the Clinical Sites of the ISPCTN to conduct multicenter clinical trials research, assuring the participation of children living in rural or underserved communities located in IDeA states, and build pediatric research capacity for IDeA states to support the conduct of clinical trials of relevance to rural or underserved children in IDeA states. The DCOC and the Clinical Sites, together, will form the ISPCTN.    The ISPCTN is the intervention part of the ECHO program and supports its overall mission: to enhance the health of children for generations to come. The award will support clinical trial pediatric research in the 5 focus areas of the ECHO program: pre-, peri-, and postnatal outcomes; obesity; upper and lower airways; neurodevelopment; and positive health.

To advance its mission, the foundation is inviting applications for its Child Health Research Awards program. Through the program, grants of $165,000 over two years will be awarded to researchers who are within five (PhD scientists) or seven (physician-scientists) years of employment following completion of training with relevance to child health. Grants will be made in support of hypothesis-driven clinical, basic science, public health, health services research, or epidemiology projects focused on child health, with the goal of supporting newly independent faculty, providing them with the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity, and assisting them in the transition to other sources of research funding.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) plans to solicit applications for Secondary Analyses of Data on Early Care and Education grants. Analyzing existing data sets may provide researchers an efficient and cost-effective method for answering critical research questions. This funding opportunity aims to support researchers conducting secondary analyses of data to address key questions of relevance to the goals and outcomes of programs administered by ACF, in particular the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) and Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS). Researchers may conduct secondary analyses of survey, program evaluation, or administrative data. Data sets from primary research and evaluation may also be candidates for secondary analyses. A data set may be used by itself or may be linked to another data set or database to best address the research questions proposed.

The Administration for Children and Families has funding available for a cooperative agreement to support a grantee as a trusted source for research and policy related information for the child care and early education field. The grantee will establish and operate a website for the Child Care and Early Education Research Connections database (hereafter referred to as "Research Connections"). The interactive website (http://www.researchconnections.org) will house a comprehensive and up-to-date database of resources derived from rigorous research including scholarly peer-reviewed research and 'gray' literature (i.e., rigorous research published as policy briefs, state and federal government reports, foundation reports, etc.) and publicly available assessment instruments relevant to child care and early education policy and practice (i.e., community based child care serving children birth through 13-years, Early Care and Education (ECE) programs, home-based child care, family child care, Head Start, public Pre-kindergarten (Pre-K), and after-school programs).

Early Childhood Welfare - Children can only reach their full potential when all aspects of their development - intellectual, emotional, and physical - are optimally supported. Providing a safe and nurturing environment is essential, as is imparting the skills of social living in a culturally diverse world. To that end, the foundation supports projects that seek to perfect child-rearing practices and to identify models that can provide creative, caring environments in which all young children thrive. Early Childhood Education and Play - Research shows that children need to be stimulated as well as nurtured, early in life if they are to succeed in school, work, and life. That preparation relates to every aspect of a child's development, and everywhere a child learns - at home, in childcare settings, and in preschool. The foundation seeks to improve the quality of both early childhood teaching and learning, through the development of innovative curricula and research based pedagogical standards, as well as the design of imaginative play materials and learning environments. Parenting Education - To help parents create nurturing environments for their children, the foundation supports programs that teach parents about developmental psychology, cultural child-rearing differences, pedagogy, issues of health, and prenatal care and diet, as well programs that provide both cognitive and emotional support to parents.

The purpose of this forecasted funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to provide competitive grant funds for up to 5 years for projects authorized by the Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act (Pub. L. 112-34). This Act includes a targeted grants program (section 437(f)) that directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to reserve funds for regional partnership grants (RPGs) to improve the well-being of children affected by substance abuse. These targeted grants will be awarded to regional partnerships that provide, through interagency collaboration and integration of programs and services, activities and services that are designed to increase the well-being of, improve permanency outcomes for, and enhance the safety of children who are in out-of-home placements or are at risk of entering out-of-home placements as a result of a parent's or caretaker's substance abuse.

The Finish Line Youth Foundation, the charitable arm of athletic products retailer Finish Line, provides funding to support youth athletic programs and sports-based camps, especially those serving disadvantaged children and those with special needs. The foundation provides grants in three categories: programmatic Grants, Legacy Grants, and Founder's Grants.

The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications from early-career psychologists conducting research in the area of early intervention for and treatment of serious emotional disturbance in children. Through its John and Polly Sparks Early Career grant program, the foundation will award a single grant of $18,000 to an early-career psychologist in support of scientifically based research and programs that could provide models for broad-based applications across the country. The grant is meant to encourage the researcher to devote his/her career to methods of intervention for and treatment of serious emotional disturbance in children. Although APF does not consider institutional indirect costs or overhead costs, the recipiens may use the grant to cover the direct administrative costs of their proposed project. To be eligible, applicants must be a psychologist with an EdD, PsyD, or PhD from an accredited university and be no more than seven years postdoctoral.

This notice solicits applications for the R40 Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Field-Initiated Innovative Research Studies (FIRST) Program. The purpose of the MCH FIRST Program grant is to advance the health and wellbeing of MCH populations by supporting innovative, applied, and translational intervention[1] research studies on critical issues affecting MCH populations. [1] For the purpose of this NOFO, an "intervention" is defined to include behavioral, social, or structural / health systems approaches, as well as combination applied clinico-medical and behavioral, social, or structural / health system approaches that contribute to the prevention of diseases or improvement of health (including clinical) outcomes for mothers, children and families at a population level.

The project funded under this proposed announcement seeks applications from public and private nonprofit entities for one grant for family planning research. The purpose of this grant is to collect and analyze data on issues of interest to the family planning field. Analysis and research may include, but are not limited to, the following: current services provided by Title X clinics and other family planning centers across the U. S. and how services have changed over time; how Title X clinics and other family planning centers clinics are assessing and taking steps towards assuring their long-term sustainability and how this has changed over time; current health insurance status of women and men seen at Title X clinics and other family planning centers and how this has changed over time; and the sexual risk behaviors and social support networks of clients seen at Title X clinics and other family planning centers and how this has changed over time. The NEA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the National Education Association, is a public charity supported by contributions from educators' dues, corporate sponsors, and others. The foundation supports student success by helping public school educator's work with key partners to build strong systems of shared responsibility. As part of an effort to achieve this goal, the foundation is inviting applications for its Learning and Leadership Grants program. The program provides support to public school teachers, public education support professionals, and/or faculty and staff in public institutions of higher education through grants to individuals to fund participation in high-quality professional development experiences, such as summer institutes or action research; or grants to groups fund collegial study, including study groups, action research, lesson study, or mentoring experiences for faculty or staff new to an assignment. The grant amount is $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study. All $5,000 group grant applicants must include partner information. The Organization for Autism Research is inviting applications for its Graduate Research Grant program. Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

This notice solicits applications for the Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) Program. The purpose of this Program is to provide information, education, technical assistance, and peer support to families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) and the professionals who serve them.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), will solicit applications for Family Strengthening Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus on questions that have direct implications for healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. These grants are intended to address issues of significance to inform policy decisions and solutions, particularly for underserved/understudied populations (e.g., low-income families, minority populations), utilize rigorous research methodology (including primary data collection and/or secondary data analysis), and help inform the development of future intervention research. The Fund recognizes that young investigators may find it difficult to remain in pediatric research because of a lack of funding. Therefore, the purpose of this program is to encourage the development of medical research in child health by awarding small grants to new researchers, helping them gain a foothold in this important area. The goal is to fund applicants who will go on to be independent investigators. The Fund will make up to 30 awards total with two funding cycles (15 awards each). The Fund is open to a wide variety of research topics. We do not focus on a particular ​disease, but all our funded projects deal directly with children's health. In the Early Career Award program, the Fund is particularly interested in applicants that show great potential to impact that field of children's health through medical research. Both an applicant's aptitude and inclination toward research are considered. The quality of the mentor and the mentoring relationship are also considered to be important predictors of success.

The award, which carries a grant of $4,000, is awarded annually to assist an IRA member in the investigation of reading-related problems and to encourage international professional development activities carried out in countries outside North America. The American Psychological Association is accepting applications for its Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Fellowship program, which is designed to nurture excellent young scholars for careers in areas of psychology, such as child-clinical, pediatric, school, educational and developmental psychopathology. Through the program, one-year grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to support graduate research projects and scholarships in child psychology. To be eligible, applicants must have completed doctoral candidacy at the time of application (documentation required) and demonstrated research competence and area commitment. In addition, IRB approval must be received from their host institution before funding can be awarded if human participants are involved.
