The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) is soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using behavioral science approaches to examine specific research questions of relevance to social service programs and policies. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to apply a behavioral lens to issues facing poor and vulnerable families in the United States, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. Applicants are required to demonstrate the applicability of their research to practice or policy serving low-income children, adults, and families, especially those that seek to improve their well-being.

The purpose of this priority is to fund a cooperative agreement to establish and operate a national center to provide technical assistance (TA) directly to States, educational service agencies (ESAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and charter management organizations in those States to help create the conditions necessary for educators to make full and sustained use of instructional and leadership practices supported by evidence (as defined in this notice). Because they are an essential part of this effort, the Center will also provide this TA to other Department-funded TA centers and to organizations that prepare district superintendents. The AABC Foundation, was established in 1994 by American Association of Birth Centers to advance public knowledge and understanding of issues related to family-centered childbirth. The foundation raises funds to support the advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women's health care. Based on wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility, operating with a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth. To advance its mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to support research projects on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations and nonprofit status or sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project's timeline.

Established in 1962, the Spencer Foundation is dedicated to the belief that research is necessary to the improvement of education. To that end, the foundation supports high-quality investigations of education through its research programs and to the strengthening and renewal of the educational research community through its fellowship/training programs and related activities. To that end, the foundation is accepting proposals through its Small Research Grants Program from education research projects. In keeping with the foundation's mission, the program aims to fund academic work that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived. The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications from early-career psychologists conducting research in the area of early intervention for and treatment of serious emotional disturbance in children. Through its John and Polly Sparks Early Career grant program, the foundation will award a single grant of $18,000 to an early-career psychologist in support of scientifically based research and programs that could provide models for broad-based applications across the country. The grant is meant to encourage the researcher to devote his/her career to methods of intervention for and treatment of serious emotional disturbance in children. Although APF does not consider institutional indirect costs or overhead costs, the recipiens may use the grant to cover the direct administrative costs of their proposed project. To be eligible, applicants must be a psychologist with an EdD, PsyD, or PhD from an accredited university and be no more than seven years postdoctoral.

This FOA invites intervention strategies that are designed to be delivered in typical service settings using typically available personnel and resources, to enhance the implementation of interventions that prove effective, enhance their future uptake in diverse settings, and thereby reduce risk of suicide and self-harm in this population.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to repurpose already FDA approved drugs for new neonatal and obstetric indications, in order to overcome the difficulties associated with the traditional development of drugs appropriate for use in neonates and pregnant women and facilitate treatment of these vulnerable populations.

The purpose of the RRTCs, which are funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to achieve the goals of, and improve the effectiveness of, services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act through well-designed research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in important topical areas as specified by NIDILRR. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), is intended to support novel research on how prenatal alcohol exposure may contribute to the etiology of chronic diseases and health conditions later in life. Central to this theme is the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD) concept which suggests that fetal adaptations in response to adverse intrauterine conditions may increase the risk for childhood and adulthood disease. The goal of this FOA is to stimulate a broad range of research to: 1) leverage existing prospective birth cohorts to define the role of maternal alcohol consumption in the DOHaD process; 2) investigate the biological, cellular, and molecular mechanisms by which prenatal alcohol exposure may impact disease outcomes later in life; and 3) identify biomarkers associated with gestational alcohol exposure that may predict adult disease susceptibility in exposed offspring. Studies supported by this FOA will provide fundamental insights into a possible fetal-basis to adult disease that is influenced by maternal alcohol use.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for multidisciplinary national conferences that will inform care and facilitate research for major issues in pediatric critical care medicine. Given the nascent stage of development, the small diverse patient populations, and the rapid expansion of the field, conducting research and establishing best practices in pediatric critical care is challenging. National conferences that convene experts from across the country hold the potential to establish the frameworks necessary to overcome these obstacles. It is anticipated that such conferences will foster collaboration among different clinical disciplines, geographically and culturally diverse institutions and medical centers, professional organizations and NIH Institutes. Specifically, it is hoped that these conferences will drive the development and acceptance of uniform definitions, facilitate the determination of common data elements, identify key knowledge gaps to advance research, and/or foster discussions on how research findings can be used to best inform guidelines for patient care.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to seek applications for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (IDDRCs). This FOA invites applications for research center grants designed to advance the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This FOA seeks applications from institutions that meet the qualifications for a multi-disciplinary program of IDD research that will include: 1) Cores that facilitate interdisciplinary and translational research in IDD and its dissemination, and that support IDD-related projects funded by other sources; and 2) at least one specific research project related to one of several focus themes identified as an area of research need in IDD. Funds for the majority of outside research projects using these core facilities come from independent sources including Federal, State, and private organizations.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage practice-based research aimed at testing the effectiveness of developmentally-focused theory-based efficacious prevention interventions which may impact mental health outcomes, including suicide behaviors and serious mental illness. The research should test prevention approaches that are both scalable and sustainable for implementation in pediatric-serving primary care settings, with an emphasis on populations experiencing mental health disparities. This FOA seeks to supports clinical trials to establish the effectiveness of scalable prevention interventions when implemented using available resources within pediatric-serving primary care settings.

The Linguistics Program supports basic science in the domain of human language, encompassing investigations of the grammatical properties of individual human languages, and of natural language in general. Research areas include syntax, semantics, morphology, phonetics, and phonology. The program encourages projects that are interdisciplinary in methodological or theoretical perspective, and that address questions that cross disciplinary boundaries, such as (but not limited to): What are the psychological processes involved in the production, perception, and comprehension of language? What are the computational properties of language and/or the language processor that make fluent production, incremental comprehension or rapid learning possible? How do the acoustic and physiological properties of speech inform our theories of language and/or language processing? What role does human neurobiology play in shaping the various components of our linguistic capacities? How does language develop in children? What social and cultural factors underlie language variation and change?
