The STEM+C Program focuses on research and development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches to the integration of computing within STEM teaching and learning for preK-12 students in both formal and informal settings. The STEM+C program supports research on how students learn to think computationally to solve interdisciplinary problems in science and mathematics. The program supports research and development that builds on evidence-based teacher preparation or professional development activities that enable teachers to provide excellent instruction on the integration of computation and STEM disciplines. Proposals should describe projects that are grounded in prior evidence and theory, are innovative or potentially transformative, and that will generate and build knowledge about the integration of computing and one or more STEM disciplines at the preK-12 level.

The Best Buy Foundation seeks to build better futures for youth through technology. To that end, the foundation is inviting proposals for community grants. Grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded in support of equitable, innovative, and impact-driven programs focused on enhancing the lives of youth between the ages of 13 to 18 through technology-enabled curricula. Programs should include hands-on learning opportunities that lead to skills development, engage youth in experimenting and interacting with the latest technologies, and close the digital skills gap; provide teens from underresourced communities with access to innovative technologies and help them become fluent in technological fields while developing skills that better prepare them for future education and career success; and incorporate cutting-edge technology such as computers, digital cameras, video cameras, and professional software, including but not limited to audio production (including music mixing and recording), website development, computer maintenance and repair, UX/UI (user experience/user interface), graphic design and photography 2, cybersecurity, mobile and game app development, 3D animation, programing and coding, virtual reality/ augmented reality, robotics, and green technology.

The Linguistics Program supports basic science in the domain of human language, encompassing investigations of the grammatical properties of individual human languages, and of natural language in general. Research areas include syntax, semantics, morphology, phonetics, and phonology. The program encourages projects that are interdisciplinary in methodological or theoretical perspective, and that address questions that cross disciplinary boundaries, such as (but not limited to): What are the psychological processes involved in the production, perception, and comprehension of language? What are the computational properties of language and/or the language processor that make fluent production, incremental comprehension or rapid learning possible? How do the acoustic and physiological properties of speech inform our theories of language and/or language processing? What role does human neurobiology play in shaping the various components of our linguistic capacities? How does language develop in children? What social and cultural factors underlie language variation and change?

1) Actively Achieving: This category supports programs that provide individuals with disabilities opportunities to participate in activities that engage their bodies and minds. Actively Achieving programs promote interaction with other people in positive community settings and nurture independence and personal growth. Sports, arts, recreation, education, and employment initiatives are all grouped into this category. 2) Bridging Barriers: This category supports projects that address and offer solutions to barriers for independent living across the disability community. Barriers may be structurally evident, such as lack of ramps or other means of access in buildings with stairs, or lack of curb cuts on sidewalks. Other barriers are far less obvious, such as lack of accessible transportation, inability to operate a computer due to limited hand function, failure to receive dental or gynecological care as a result of inaccessible examination equipment, inability of uninsured or underinsured individuals to secure a properly fitted wheelchair, and discrimination in the workplace. 3) Caring and Coping: Caring and Coping projects provide services that address the complex day-to-day health and personal issues for individuals living with disabilities, their families, and caregivers.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to stimulate research on a wide range of topics related to neonatal and pediatric resuscitation. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to: fetal-neonatal transitional cardiovascular and pulmonary physiology, optimizing steps of resuscitation, management of third stage of labor and its effect on the fetus, resuscitation of children with malformations, effect of resuscitation on long-term outcomes and post-resuscitation practices. Applications can include epidemiological studies, studies utilizing fetal-neonatal animal models, computer or other information-technology-based simulations or study designs, clinical observational studies, analyses of pre-existing national or regional datasets, opportunistic studies, prospective randomized controlled trials, or any combinations thereof. It is anticipated that the results from well-conducted studies will enable translation of knowledge into evidence-based resuscitation practices ensuring a optimal short- and long-term outcomes for all newborn infants and children.

The Department of Education is issuing a notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2018 for Educational Technology, Media, and Materials for Individuals with Disabilities-Stepping-up Technology Implementation, Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) number 84.327S.

: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit proposals for a grant to develop and expand text and chat-based capabilities for child maltreatment prevention, resource sharing, detection, and reporting. In doing this work, the grantee is required to (1) Determine best practices and protocols pertaining to the use of text and chat-based technology within the child abuse and neglect reporting context; (2) Identify effective strategies for appropriate communication, identity verification, and privacy protection for youth who may be victims of maltreatment; and (3) Develop strategies for effectively sharing resources with youth who may be experiencing maltreatment. The protocols and strategies should be widely disseminated and applicable to national hotline environments. Applicants must possess the capacity to coordinate with hotlines administered by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the National Human Trafficking Hotline. This grant will be for one 24-month project period.

The Embassy of the United States in London invites eligible organizations to submit proposals to develop and implement 14-day exchange program in the United States for eight 16 year-old youth participants (age as of July 1st, 2018) from the United Kingdom, to be selected by our UK government partners. The program will provide both a brief touring component designed to provide a well-rounded introduction to a range of cybersecurity challenges and exploration of U.S. public and private sector approaches, as well as a residential 'summer camp' component with a focus on practical training and collaborative skill building activities.

The purpose of this project is to assess the efficiency, effectiveness, and cost benefits of government-funded internet crimes against children (ICAC) training to assist state and local law enforcement agencies develop effective responses to technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and internet crimes against children.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks clinical research on self-management interventions and technologies that improve health and quality of life in persons needing assistance to optimize and maintain existing functional capabilities, prevent/delay disabilities and navigate their environment. The research focus encompasses maintenance/restorative care that can be tailored to individuals existing functional abilities and interests and is intended to enhance physical, sensory, motor, and mental capabilities. Of particular interest is research designed to maintain functional capabilities in such conditions as cardiac and respiratory insufficiency, movement impairment associated with arthritis, chronic back pain, stroke, and other physical or cognitive disabilities.
