Pancreatic Cancer Network Accepting Applications for Translational Research Program | R... - 0 views

  •
This year, PCAN has partnered with the Celgene Corporation to accelerate the development of novel therapies by establishing strong relationships between academia and industry through research grants. Funded projects will benefit from industry input and insight, leading to an accelerated translation to a therapeutic product. Projects should aim to identify novel targets and approaches to the treatment of pancreatic cancer or understand and circumvent treatment resistance. Of particular interest are projects that fall into at least one of these three areas of research: a) immune context and tumor micro-environment interactions; (b) regulators of pathogenesis, progression, and metabolism, with particular interest in epigenetic mechanisms; and (c) transcriptional networks essential for viability and maintenance of malignant phenotype.

  •
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites grant applications for the Research Specialist Award (R50) in any area of NCI-funded cancer research. This FOA is specifically for core/shared resource/central scientific support scientists. The Research Specialist Award is designed to encourage the development of stable research career opportunities for exceptional scientists who want to continue to pursue research within the context of an existing NCI-funded basic, translational, clinical or population science cancer research program, but not serve as independent investigators. These scientists, such as researchers within a core/shared resource/central scientific support, are vital to sustaining the biomedical research enterprise. The Research Specialist Award is intended to provide salary support and sufficient autonomy so that individuals are not solely dependent on NCI grants held by others for career continuity.

  •
This U24 funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is a part of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) initiative to establish the "NCI Awardee Skills Development Consortium (NASDC)."  The overarching goal of this initiative is to provide opportunities for current NCI grantees, especially those who are junior faculty (e.g., assistant professors, instructors, research scientists, or equivalent), to enhance their skills in areas that are critical for establishing and maintaining successful independent academic cancer research careers. This U24 FOA solicits applications for a Coordinating Center to address the NASDC logistics and evaluation needs in serving the NASDC Research Education Short Courses that will be supported by a companion UE5 FOA (RFA-CA-19-010).

NineSights Community - Request for Proposal: 2aNew Drug Modality Targeting Immunosuppr... - 0 views

  •
NineSigma, representing Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd. (https://www.ds-pharma.com/) ("Client"), seeks a drug modality for novel anti-cancer drugs that target immunosuppressive cells and interfere with immune functions, or an evaluation system for creating a drug modality. In recent years, the emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors has been gradually revealing that the local immunosuppressive environment in tumor affects cancer treatment. This attracts interest in the development of novel antitumor drugs for improving the immune state of the tumor microenvironment. In particular, we look for compounds that target host cells contributing to the formation of the immunosuppressive environment and interfering with these functions.

  •
NineSigma, representing Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd. (https://www.ds-pharma.com/ ) (the "Client"), seeks a partner that wishes to make use of (i.e. technology assessment / licensing-in) an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) technology developed by the Client called antibody intracellular activated drug conjugate (AiADC) technology. The Client aims to bring innovative anti-cancer drugs to the market by developing ADC technology that can be used generously for various antibodies. The Client has already succeeded in developing AiADC technology, which is more effective and safer than conventional ADC technologies. They believe that the innovative technology can make a new solution in cancer treatment. They seek to make the technology applicable to a wider range of antibodies. With an aim to accelerate drug discovery based on its AiADC technology, the Client has decided to make this RFP to broaden the potential of this proprietary technology through partnership with a company that possesses promising antibody seeds.

The FY19 LCRP Concept Award supports the exploration of a highly innovative new concept or untested theory that addresses an important problem relevant to lung cancer. The Concept Award is not intended to support an incremental progression of an already established research project but, instead, allows Principal Investigators (PIs) the opportunity to pursue serendipitous observations. This award mechanism supports high-risk studies that have the potential to reveal entirely new avenues for investigation. Applications must describe how the new idea will enhance the existing knowledge of lung cancer or develop an innovative and novel course of investigation. Submissions from and partnerships with investigators at Department of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities and laboratories, and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers and research laboratories are strongly encouraged. Research completed through a Concept Award may generate sufficient preliminary data to enable the PI to prepare an application for future research.
