Colorectal Cancer Alliance Accepting Applications for Chris4Life Research Program | RFP... - 0 views

    Founded in 1999 by a group of forty-one survivors and family members impacted by colorectal cancer, the Colorectal Cancer Alliance is a network of eight hundred thousand patients, family members, caregivers, and survivors dedicated to the prevention of colorectal cancer. In support of that mission, the alliance is accepting applications to its Chris4Life Research Program. Through the program, the alliance will award a single grant of $150,000 over two years to an innovative project with substantial potential to advance the prevention of colorectal cancer. The focus of eligible projects may include but are not limited to high-risk populations, specific risk factors, effective screening and early diagnosis, and biomarkers. Funds may support research-related expenses, including supplies, the purchase of software and equipment, and publication directly related to the project. Research scientists working at any academic or nonprofit institution are eligible to apply; however, all research must be conducted in the United States. DoD Ovarian Cancer Academy Dean and Assistant Dean (Leadership) Award - 0 views

    The OCRP Ovarian Cancer Academy Award mechanism, which was initially created in FY09, is a unique, interactive virtual academy providing intensive mentoring, national networking, collaborations, and a peer group for junior faculty. The overarching goal of the Ovarian Cancer Academy (OCA) is to develop successful, highly productive ovarian cancer researchers in a collaborative research and career development environment. The OCA is a virtual career development and research training platform that currently consists of 13 Early-Career Investigator (ECI)/Designated Mentor pairs from different institutions, and one Academy Dean and one Assistant Dean. Three ECIs will be graduating in the fall of FY19 and three FY18 OCA-ECI/Designated Mentor awards will be made by September 2019. In addition, eight have Academy graduates continue to participate in the annual Academy meetings.     The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is seeking a Data Coordinating Center (DCC) for biospecimen and consent related activities for the Sudden Death in the Young (SDY) Case Registry. SDY is a tragic event with longstanding impact on families and communities. Although the causes of SDY are myriad, sudden unexpected infant death (SUID), sudden cardiac death and sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) are three examples that have inspired public health efforts at prevention. Yet fundamental gaps in knowledge about incidence, mechanisms, and risk factors for SDY limit the identification of effective prevention efforts. This acquisition is for one contract for a SDY Data Coordinating Center with subcontracts and/or other mechanisms as needed to accomplish all necessary work described in the Statement of Work.

    The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by The National Cancer Institute (NCI) is to create Pharmacokinetics Resource Laboratories (PK Laboratories) that will support the Experimental Therapeutics Clinical Trials Network (ETCTN). The PK Laboratories will be expected to organize specimen collection and subsequent analysis of pharmacokinetic endpoints, drug-drug interactions, cytochromes P450 (CYP) interactions, and food effects in ETCTN studies of NCI Investigational New Drug (IND) agents. The overarching goal of the ETCTN PK Laboratories is to advance the clinical development of NCI-IND agents through achieving comprehensive understanding of pharmacokinetic behavior of these agents studied in ETCTN protocols. The ETCTN Pharmacokinetic Resource Laboratories will assure the availability of physicians, clinical pharmacologists, nurses and scientists who have the appropriate expertise in pharmacokinetic studies for early drug development and translational research. This FOA solicits U24 cooperative agreement applications from multidisciplinary groups that will conduct all pharmacokinetic studies for ETCTN early phase clinical trials filed to the IND applications in NCIs Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis (DCTD), Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program (CTEP).

    The OCRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award is intended to support high-impact research that has the potential to make an important contribution to ovarian cancer or patient/survivor care. Research projects may focus on any phase of research, from basic laboratory research through translational research, excluding clinical trials. The application must demonstrate logical reasoning and a sound scientific rationale established through a critical review and analysis of the literature for the application to be competitive. Applications must include preliminary data that are relevant to ovarian cancer and support the proposed research project. The proposed research must be relevant to active duty Service members, Veterans, military beneficiaries, and/or the American public. The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY18 OCRP Investigator-Initiated Research Award will not exceed $450,000. Refer to Section II.D.5, Funding Restrictions, for detailed funding information. All projects should adhere to a core set of standards for rigorous study design and reporting to maximize the reproducibility and translational potential of preclinical research.     Woman to Woman, a program of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, pairs gynecologic cancer patients with trained survivor-volunteers who provide one-on-one emotional support and mentoring to women when they need it most. From the moment of diagnosis through the end of treatment, Woman to Woman survivor-volunteers have helped hundreds of women and their families cope with gynecologic cancer. Through the program, one-year grants of either $60,000 (for hospital-based programs) or $30,000 (for community-based organizations) will be awarded to institutions with a large volume of gynecologic cancer patients and a need to provide this type of support to patients. Grants are provided to cover the cost of a part-time program coordinator's salary (can be a new hire or a reassignment), program costs, and a patient fund (no indirect costs allowed). It is expected that each Woman to Woman program will become self-sustaining after the first year. OCRFA will provide all program materials for patients, as well as technical assistance and support, for the life of the program (even after the end of the grant period). Institutions and organizations also will have access to a dedicated section of the Woman to Woman website (under construction) featuring tools designed to assist them in the development and administration of new programs.

    The EIAs provide funding of up to $100,000 per year for two years to established melanoma researchers, or senior researchers working in closely related fields who wish to move into melanoma research All proposals will undergo a rigorous peer-reviewed process by hand-selected experts in diverse areas of melanoma research. Reviewers include members of the MRF's Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) and the Breakthrough consortium (MRFBC) as well as members of the scientific and clinical melanoma community who are not in conflict with the application. Proposals receiving discrepant scores will be subjected to an interim review. Applications with the highest scores (including those that received a high score in the interim review) are then assessed by a panel of representatives from the initial review group.     The American Cancer Society is accepting proposals for research projects with the potential to generate new knowledge of the effects of the United States healthcare system structure and the role of insurance in both access to and the outcomes of cancer screening, early detection, and treatment services. ACS is keenly interested in supporting rapid learning research on the effects of health policy changes on patients, providers, and health systems. This includes but is not limited to facilitators and barriers to care; unintended consequences; differential experiences and outcomes of patients seeking or receiving care; best practice models for quality care; and economic impact. Awards will not exceed $200,000 per year (direct costs) for up to four years. To be eligible, applicants must be affiliated with a nonprofit institution in the United States, one of its territories, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico; and be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or permanent resident of the United States. Priority will be given to projects that focus on addressing cancer-related health disparities.     The Albert Einstein Fellowship supports creative, interdisciplinary thought by giving young scholars the chance to pursue research outside their previous area of work. Candidates must be under 35 and hold a university degree in the humanities, in the social sciences, or in the natural sciences. Applications for 2019 should include a CV, a two-page project proposal, and two letters of recommendation. All documents must be received by April 15, 2018. At the end of the fellowship period, the fellow will be expected to present his or her project in a public lecture at the Einstein Forum and at the Daimler and Benz Foundation. The Einstein Fellowship is not intended for applicants who wish to complete an academic study they have already begun. A successful application must demonstrate the quality, originality, and feasibility of the proposed project, as well as the superior intellectual development of the applicant. It is not relevant whether the applicant has begun working toward, or currently holds, a PhD. The proposed project need not be entirely completed during the time of the fellowship, but can be the beginning of a longer project. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO FELLOWSHIPS WILL BE GIVEN FOR DISSERTATION RESEARCH.     This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites U01 applications for the continuation of the consortium to study Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer (CPDPC) to conduct and complete ongoing studies on chronic pancreatitis (CP) and factors that increase the risk of pancreatic cancer in patients (children and adults) with CP, pancreatogenic (type 3c) diabetes (T3cDM) and in patients with newly diagnosed diabetes. The CPDPC is composed of several Clinical Centers (CC) and one Coordination and Data Management Center (CDMC) The Consortium since its establishment in Fall 2015 has conducted longitudinal clinical studies with comprehensive epidemiological and biological characterization of patients with CP (including those with Acute Recurrent Pancreatitis, ARP) to gain insight into the pathophysiology of chronic pancreatitis and its sequela: chronic pain, pancreatic insufficiency, T3cDM and the diabetes/pancreatic cancer association. The consortium has also undertaken studies on the development of pancreatic cancer in newly diagnosed diabetic patients. Applications for the Consortium Coordination and Data Management Center (CDMC) are being solicited via RFA-DK-19-504 "Consortium for the Study of Chronic Pancreatitis, Diabetes and Pancreatic Cancer Coordination and Data Coordinating Center (CPDPC-CDMC) (U01 Clinical Trial Optional)". To effectively contribute to the ongoing CPDPC clinical studies, each CC applicant should include researchers and clinicians with multi-disciplinary expertise to match the objectives of the CPDPC (see https://cpdpc.mdanderson.org/clinicalstudies.html). Research CCs will be expected to share results freely within Consortium and to develop trans-Consortium collaborative projects that make use of the combined expertise and technological capabilities present in all of the CCs.

    With this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) invites applications for investigator-initiated Program Project (P01) applications. The proposed Program may address any of the broad areas of cancer research, including (but not limited to) cancer biology, cancer prevention, cancer diagnosis, cancer treatment, and cancer control. Basic, translational, clinical, and/or population-based studies in all of these research areas are appropriate. Each application submitted in response to this FOA must consist of at least three research projects and an Administrative Core.
