The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Uganda, is seeking feedback for achieving the result of improved ability of individual, households, and communities to adopt priority behaviors. This, in turn, will transform households, communities, and systems for improved health and development outcomes through Social and Behavior Change (SBC).

NIJ seeks proposals to conduct research on policing to improve policing practices and public safety at the State, local, and tribal levels. In 2015, a task force was created by President Barack Obama to examine the current state of policing in the United States. In response to a number of high profile events across the nation involving the police, the panel provided recommendations on promising policing practices that police could adopt as effective crime fighting strategies that would also strengthen trust and confidence in the police among community residents that they serve. The panel identified a number of reforms or Âœpillars that were viewed as vital to improving current police practices. In response to the recommendations and action items proposed by the task force, NIJ is interested in research in the following topical areas: 1. Research and Evaluation of Strategies to Build and Strengthen Police-Community Relationships 2. Research and Evaluation of Police Training 3. Research and Evaluation on Officer Wellness and Safety 4. Research and Evaluation on Police Technology 5. Research on Crime Scene Investigations: Triaging Evidence

1) Access to Services: The foundation provides funding for community organizations and schools that are providing vital resources and actively assisting children with autism spectrum disorder and their families through education and technology, advocacy programs, diagnostic and clinical services, direct family support, safety equipment, emergency care, respite services, and other opportunities that will enhance the quality of life for those affected. 2) Active Lifestyle: The foundation provides support for recreational and sports programs, aquatic programs, social skills training, family events and summer camps for all individuals on the autism spectrum. 3) Adult Community-Based Services: The foundation supports opportunities in the areas of job training, vocational skills programs, employment, housing, transportation, and healthcare delivery for adults on the autism spectrum.

The purpose of this IHS cooperative agreement is to increase access to community-based prevention strategies to provide social detoxification, evaluation, stabilization, fostering patient readiness for and entry into treatment for alcohol use disorders and when appropriate, other substance use disorders. Applicants must have a fully operational and staffed social detoxification program that provides all three critical components of the detoxification process that primarily serves Indians. Indian Health Service (IHS) will use this funding to focus on the provision of services in the Navajo and Great Plains Areas. Congress has highlighted that the community of Gallup, New Mexico, continues to face urgent needs for substance abuse treatment, residential services, and detoxification services to address an ongoing crisis of alcohol-related deaths of Tribal members. Senate Appropriations Committee Report 114-281 expressed the Committee's expectation that IHS use funds provided in its appropriation to continue its assistance toward addressing this issue in the city of Gallup, New Mexico. Additionally, IHS is aware of the urgent need for alcohol detoxification services in the Great Plains Area after the removal of liquor licenses in White Clay, Nebraska, leading to the potential for increased mortality if services are unavailable for alcohol detoxification and subsequent treatment services.

The purpose of this program is to demonstrate how telehealth programs and networks can improve access to health care services, particularly substance abuse treatment services, in rural, frontier, and underserved communities. The range and use of telehealth services have expanded over the past decades, along with the role of technology in improving and coordinating care. Telehealth has proven capabilities to reduce travel time, increase access to specialty care, and improve patient safety, quality of care, and provider support. Traditional models of telehealth involve care delivered to the patient at a series of originating (or spoke) sites from a specialist working at a distant (or hub) site. Telehealth is a promising tool for providing substance abuse treatment services and support to rural populations. communities that lack sufficient substance abuse treatment and other behavioral health professionals can utilize telehealth technologies to increase access to care.

To advance this mission, the foundation is inviting applications through its Non-Profit Core Mission Program, which supports small community health organizations in regional and rural areas located outside the Twin Cities metro area. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to support health-related programming that is core to the organization's nonprofit mission.

FY18 PRARP QUAL Overarching Challenges: This FY18 PRARP QUAL funding opportunity requires applications to address one or more of the following FY18 PRARP QUAL Overarching Challenges: Paucity of Clinical Studies: The paucity of clinical studies to examine the interrelationship between TBI and subsequent AD/ADRD for the military, Veteran, and civilian communities. This includes research into risk factors that may predispose individuals to AD/ADRD subsequent to TBI. Quality of Life: The need for technologies, assessments, interventions, or devices to benefit individuals living with the common symptoms or deficits of TBI and AD/ADRD. Caregiver Support: The need for technologies, assessments, interventions, or devices with the goal of enhancing the lives of caregivers for individuals living with the common symptoms or deficits of TBI and AD/ADRD. Epidemiology: The paucity of epidemiological research to examine the interrelationship between TBI and subsequent AD/ADRD for the military, Veteran, and civilian communities. This includes research into risk factors that may predispose individuals to AD/ADRD subsequent to TBI. FY18 PRARP QUAL Focus Areas: In addition to addressing one or more of the specified FY18 PRARP QUAL Overarching Challenges, applications should address at least one of the following FY18 PRARP QUAL Focus Areas in support of the FY18 PRARP QUAL Overarching Challenges. An application that proposes research outside of the FY18 PRARP QUAL Focus Areas is acceptable, as long as the applicant provides a strong rationale.

NOAA's Office of Weather and Air Quality (OWAQ) is soliciting proposals for weather, air quality, and earth-system modeling research reflecting multiple science objectives spanning time scales from hours to seasons, and from weather and water observations and earth system modeling to social and behavioral science. There will be three grant competitions from this notification valued at approximately $7,000,000 as follows: 1) Joint Technology Transfer Initiative (JTTI), 2) Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment - Southeast U.S. (VORTEX-SE), and 3) Climate Testbed (CTB). In alignment with the Weather Forecasting and Innovation Act of 2017 (Public Law 115-25), the funded projects should improve NOAA's understanding and ultimately its services of weather and water forecasting through engagement with the external scientific community on key science gaps of mutual interest. Through this funding opportunity, NOAA will support new weather, water, climate, earth system, and air quality observing and forecasting applications, including improved analysis techniques, better statistical or dynamic forecast models and techniques, and communication of that information to better inform the public.

Over the last decade, SBE has actively encouraged and supported communities to develop visions, teams, and capabilities dedicated to the creation of new, large-scale, next-generation data resources and relevant analytic techniques to advance fundamental research in the SBE sciences. This has been done both through the NSF 14-517 Building Community and Capacity for Data-Intensive Research in the Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences and in Education and Human Resources (BCC-SBE/EHR) competition and other mechanisms, such as NSF 17-594 Research Coordination Networks (RCNs). In 2015 SBE began the Resource Implementations for Data Intensive Research in the Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (RIDIR) competition. The current solicitation seeks to build upon those earlier efforts and extends the data infrastructure focus of the former RIDIR competition for the coming year.

The Science of Science:Discovery, Communication, and Impact (SoS:DCI) program is designed to increase the public value of scientific activity. The program pursues this goal by supporting basic research in three fundamental areas: How to increase the rate of socially beneficial discovery; How to improve science communication outcomes; and How to expand the societal benefits of scientific activity.

The purpose of the Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) Program is to expand the national capacity for research in the health sciences by providing cooperative agreement support to institutions that offer doctorate degrees in the health professions or in a health-related science and have a historical and current commitment to educating underrepresented students, and for institutions that deliver health care, and provide clinical services to medically underserved communities. The primary goals of the RCMI specialized centers are to: (1) enhance institutional research capacity to conduct world-class  basic biomedical, behavioral, and/or clinical research; (2) enable all levels of investigators to become more successful in obtaining competitive extramural support, especially from NIH, particularly for research on diseases and conditions that disproportionately impact minority and health disparity populations; (3) foster environments conducive to career development and enhancement for post-doctoral fellows, junior faculty, and other early stage investigators; (4) enhance the tools for, conduct of, and dissemination of research generally and specifically for advancing minority health and preventing and eliminating health disparities; and (5) establish sustainable relationships with community-based organizations that will partner with the RCMI Institution.

The intent of the FY17 PRARP CSRA is to support efforts to generate research resources, tools, or novel research efforts for researchers and/or practitioners in health sciences related to the PRARP's mission. The FY17 PRARP CSRA is open to Principal Investigators (PIs) at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) from any field or discipline. As part of the application, the PI should demonstrate that the study team has experience in both TBI and AD/ADRD research. Preliminary data, while not required, are encouraged. Preliminary data may come from the PI's published work, pilot data, or from peer-reviewed literature.The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY17 PRARP CSRA will not exceed $500,000. The maximum period of performance is 3 years. The research impact is expected to benefit the military, Veteran, and civilian communities. To this end, the PRARP has identified CSRA Overarching Challenges and Focus Areas by which the intent of this mechanism can be facilitated. The Organization for Autism Research is inviting applications for its Graduate Research Grant program. Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is seeking applications from qualified organizations for Injury Control Research Center (ICRC) grants. These centers will conduct high quality research and help translate scientific discoveries into practice for the prevention and control of fatal and nonfatal injuries and violence that support NCIPC’s priorities and mission. ICRCs are expected to blend Outreach, Training and Education, and Research activities into a program to reduce the number, risk, and public health impact of injury and violence in the U.S. The over-arching goals for the NCIPC ICRC program are to: Build the scientific base for the prevention and control of fatal and nonfatal injuries and violence. Integrate, in the context of a national program, professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines of epidemiology, behavioral and social sciences, medicine, biostatistics, public health, health economics, law, criminal justice, and engineering to perform research and provided technical expertise in order to prevent and control injuries and/or violence more effectively. Encourage investigators to propose research that involves intervention development or translation of effective programs among individuals, organizations, or communities. Provide technical assistance to injury and/or violence prevention and control programs in their geographic region, including other researchers; universities; medical institutions; community groups; state and local government agencies, public health agencies; and policy makers. Act as sources of injury and/or violence prevention and control information for their constituents and stakeholders at the local, state, tribal, national, and global levels.

Founded in 1972, the Tourette Association of America (formerly known as the Tourette Syndrome Association) has emerged as the premier national nonprofit organization working to make life better for all people affected by Tourette and tic disorders. The association advances its work by raising public awareness and fostering social acceptance; working to advance scientific understanding, treatment options, and care; educating professionals to better serve the needs of children, adults, and families challenged by Tourette and tic disorders; advocating for public policies and services that promote positive school, work, and social environments; providing help, hope, and a supportive community across the nation; and empowering its community to deal with the complexities of this spectrum of disorders. To that end, grants of up to $150,000 over two years will be awarded for basic and clinical studies on all aspects of Tourette syndrome. To be eligible, investigators are required to have an advanced degree such as a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent or be allied professionals with advanced degrees such as R.N.s, Drs. of O.T., social workers, and related fields. Investigators from nonprofit and for-profit organizations can apply.

The purpose of this FOA is to bring about decreases in IPV risk factors and increases in IPV protective factors by increasing strategic data-driven planning and sustainable use of community and societal level primary prevention activities that address the social determinants of health (SDOH) and are based on the best available evidence. In addition, the FOA will help to further develop the evidence-base for community and societal-level programs and policy efforts to prevent IPV by increasing the use of evaluation and existing surveillance data at the state and local level. Another goal of the FOA is for SDVCs to support the integration of primary prevention goals and action steps throughout the state and local level IPV planning and capacity building activities. The aim of integrating primary prevention into state planning is to help states leverage diverse funding and partnerships to increase the implementation of primary prevention above and beyond DELTA funding. DELTA Impact requires SDVCs to focus on the implementation of 3 to 4 evidence-informed programs and policy efforts within three specific focus areas. SDVCs will also focus on developing or enhancing an already-existing State Action Plan (SAP) to increase the use of data for planning and the prioritization of primary prevention of IPV based on any existing health inequities within their jurisdictions. SDVCs will be expected to participate in the national evaluation of the FOA and provide leadership at the state and national level.
